These are so stupid every year and I'll give a few reasons why.

1. The Thunder ranked first the last 3 years, yet the Spurs were the 1 seed every year by a couple games.

2. They expect these teams to win LESS when guys like Westbrook/CP3/Leonard missed a bunch of games last year?? If anything I think the Spurs/Thunder/Clippers have a real shot to all surpass 60 wins.

3. The Mavs are 5 when teams like the Warriors/Grizzlies/Blazers were all proven last year and should all improve (Grizzlies were like 40-13 to end the season when Gasol came back if I recall). Let this damn team play at least a few games before crowning them the elite of the elite in the toughest conference at any given time in NBA history.

4. Why are the 4 and 5 seeds barely cracking 50 wins when last year they had 54 wins a piece? 50 wins for example would of been 7 seed last year (Memphis).

I have HOU missing the playoffs next year. The entire west got better while they got way worse.

Thunder
Spurs
Clippers
Grizzlies
Mavericks
Warriors
Blazers
Nuggets

I like the Nuggets the most out of HOU, PHO, NOP and DENV. Even though they are my team they are deep, have great 2 way players and are getting 2 starters back.

they have systematically played the spurs 3-5 games lower every year since like 2010. I think one had the spurs winning 45games.

Pre-season rankings are just like opinions in that everyone's got them, hardly any of them are based on fact and most of them suck. For that matter, pre-season rankings literally are opinions. So I don't really know why I needed a comparison in the first place.

Willing to sig bet on that? Because I'm certainly game. The Rockets will absolutely make the playoffs next year, and I honestly think they're going to have a better record than last season.

But why? You're not even a Mavs fan? I'd much rather make that bet with a Mavericks fan and preferably someone who's been around long enough that I actually trust a sig bet will stick with them a year from now.

If you have doubt, you don't need to accept. I thought it wouldn't matter who you sig bet if you know you can win it.

I don't know that I can win it. Predicting anything in sports is a total crapshoot. Do I think Houston will finish with a better record than Dallas? Yeah, I do. How confident am I in saying that? Probably like 55%. And I'd be a ****ing idiot to say otherwise. The difference between finishing 4th and 9th in the West last season was only six games, and a million things that can happen throughout the course of a season. Plus, these are two totally different rosters now with a ton of different variables that are completely up in the air.

Anybody who says they are sure about a team's position in the standings three months before the season even starts is a total moron.

Honestly, Although Howard and Harden are talented, the Rockets took a huge hit this offseason while most of the west got better. I dont think Kevin Mchale is a good coach either.

Rockets would be at the 8th seed or just miss the playoffs if phoneix plays well.
No way the nuggets make it, are you kidding me to whoever put the nuggets in 8th haha

A lot of people are very closed-minded when making predictions.

Fan Logic: " yo our team had 45 wins last season and we just acquired a big free agent, therefore we'lll win more games"

Reality" Yes your team did get better, but you have to consider that so did a lot of other teams, so you cant expect the margin for increase in wins to be that much greater than last year.

People need to understand this.

No confidence in your team?
I don't have confidence in the unpredictability of sports. If you want to say it's a lack of confidence in the Rockets, go for it. I don't care. It doesn't mean you love your favorite team any less if you're a realist and can admit that they aren't always the greatest thing on sliced bread. But since you're a Spurs fan, I wouldn't expect you to understand that.

That's your opinion. Here's a few facts, though, which is what I'm basing my opinion on:
1. Houston won 54 games last year.
2. That was with Asik missing 34 games, Beverley missing 26 games and every one of their other top 10 players aside from Terrence Jones missing at least eight games.
3. That was also the first season with Dwight and Harden playing together.
4. The Rockets biggest issue last season was their perimeter defense.
5. Houston essentially replaced Chandler Parsons, a mediocre defender, with Trevor Ariza, one of the better perimeter defenders in the NBA.
6. Despite the public perception that Parsons is the superior player, Ariza boasted nearly an identical PER and a superior WS last season to Parsons. And Houston paid half as much for him.
7. The Rockets also beefed up the defense of their rotation by adding Kostas Papanikalou and Joey Dorsey, two of the best defenders in the Euroleague last season.
8. Few (if any) GMs are a better judge of European talent than Morey, who just essentially robbed the rest of the league two seasons ago with his signing of Patrick Beverley.
9. For all the public attention he brings, Jeremy Lin is wildly inconsistent. After the All-Star break last year, he basically averaged 11/4/3 with two turnovers per game on only 41% shooting.
10. Houston has three solid young guards that are better 3-point shooters and better fits in this than Lin in Troy Daniels, Isaiah Canaan and Nick Johnson.
11. Houston got better in the second half of last season. Much better.
12. Harden dealt with foot problems during the first half of the year. Post all-star break, he averaged 28/7/5 on 47/42/88 shooting percentages.

Take all of that with a grain of salt if you want to. But I'm not just pulling this stuff out of my *** based on blind faith. I honestly do think the Rockets are going to be better next year, and I believe this based on how much the team improved throughout the year and hard data I've found since the season ended.

Dont be such a you know what. Sig bet me that Houston + or - their last season's record.

How bout this: I bet they finish between seeds 10-5 you can take 5-1. If they get 5th seed we make the overall record compared to last year as the tiebreaker.

sig bet goes through end of regular season - july 1st

How is he being a you know what? You talked a big game a few weeks ago saying they wouldn't make the playoffs and MBT called you out on it via sig bet. Now, you're backtracking. Sounds like you're the guy being a you know what.

If I get bored/drunk enough later I'll look up that convo, although it was in a Rockets troll thread (or possibly one of the Parsons threads) and there were about 3,582 pages of that garbage to sift through so I probably won't find it.

Better chemistry, I think they've honestly shed more dead weight than talent, 2nd unit was weak last season I don't expect that to change, but Dwight Is another year removed from back surgery and harden had Nick nack injuries so just health and chemistry would have them improved
