He put in this number change request a couple months back... I'm wondering if in hindsight he regrets it now?

Pretty corny nickname. Initial + number nicknames usually suck. Only one that can pull it off is ak47

So the whole leg breaking thing was just karma for giving himself a bad nickname? That's funny.

I believe Bill Simmons mentioned this recently. Wonder if he was the impetus.

It's super corny, but I kinda like it.

I don't think so, it's been talked about for quite awhile.

Think everyone actually wanted him to be PG -13

I think it's because he wanted a better nickname, as stupid and corney as that sounds, he now will have a nickname " PG-13" just like "AK-47".

What are the rules to changing a jersey number? I remember a few years ago Adrian Peterson wanted to change but he couldn't?? Does anyone else remember this?

When was this? He was 28 and Oklahoma too. I don't ever remember him wanting a new number w the Vikings. I remember Reggie Bush wanting 5 out of college though and the NFL saying no

Edit. Nvm googled it and found it.

I gotta say that there were tons of fans that already wished this would happen, just so that they can finally give him a nickname.

Not of fan of it. Also hated cb4, d12, and all of those nicknames. Uncreative.

You're just an unhappy guy aren't you ? It might be uncreative to you but most of these guys are given these names by friends and media and lets me honest how many famous people do you know with those nicknames in sports ? Can't help the their Initials and numbers go hand and hand and just sound good . Nicknames are earned mostly and George never had a good nickname to begin with , PG is so bland ... PG -13 sounds a lot better.

CB4 was good too. But you can't just make up meaningless ones like KB24 or CP3, there has to be another meaning to it otherwise it goes from 'meh to lame really quick.

I have no problem with CP3, SC30, CB4, D12 etc and I have no problem with this either.

In fact, I applaud it, it's sort of funny and 13 is my lucky number. Also, my favourite player of all time wore 13.

Unhappy because I don't like the nickname? Lol...

I prefer catchy/creative nicknames. Like the Akron hammer or the chosen one for LeBron. Or "the answer", " the truth", " the big ticket" etc....

Sorry if I find initial nicknames corny.

Peterson was never told no, In the NFL if you want to change your # you have to pay a certain amount of money for every jersey of yours thats on the market, He just didnt want to pay the price to switch #'s... Not sure if the NBA is the same way or not..

I agree. Those nicknames are earned because they speak for the type of game the player has and who he is. Most initial + number nicknames are nothing more than another way to pronounce their names with zero meaning behind it.

It is what it is though, nothing to whine about.

Everyone who follows the league knows it. Last I checked he uses it as his twitter handle and it's on his kicks.

Yeah but you can't just give yourself those sort of nick names you have to earn them. Nobody has suggested a good Paul George nickname so this makes sense for him right now.

KD was KD before he was the slim reaper or the durantula wasn't he?
