I'm interested to know how much equity he got.. Under armor is like a $3billion company..

i hope he takes the deal. UA is slowly (very) creeping on Nike and even though they have a real long ways to go this could pave the way to more future athletes joining them in the future.

It's good to see the best basket ball player on planet getting paid. How much equity though? Probably 2-5%.

Durant just got more hoes

So that means he'll stay in OKC for a lot less and they can give more to Westbrook to stay.

The equity is most likely part of the 320.

$320+ million offer from Under Armor to Kevin Durant. Offer includes equity in the company.

Under Armour shoes are ugly as hell though.

I think even with a huge name like KD attached to them, the designers are gonna have to really come through to create a shoe people wanna buy.

Nike's designers are just on another level.

Nike will counter with a bigger offer

TheSilentBang
08-07-2014, 03:39 PM
Damn the money he's getting from Under Armor is half the amount that the Bucks were sold for!

KD will be able to afford to buy an NBA team when retires (ala Jordan) if he saves up. $320 million + the money he's made throug other endorsements, NBA contracts etc = $500 million+

Idk Nike doesn't need Durant like UA does. He will probably take this

That's true, but it might not be about getting KD. They might pay up to keep UA from getting him

Nike have a bigger star in LeBron already. They've got bottomless pockets but they're not paying $320m+ for him.

KD needs to check the fine print to make sure he's selling the rights to his soles and not his soul.

Another good sign KD might be going to DC. You know how much profit KD/UA could make in the DC/Baltimore area if he goes to the Wizards

Taxes and agent fees take a big bite out of that.

Well the $320 includes equity of the company meaning that could increase with valuation of UA.

UA is making a splash.

very smart on UA part
if they want to get into the market pay the top guy out the *** to make a point to every other athlete

What is it, a 10 year deal or something?

JasonJohnHorn
08-07-2014, 09:46 PM
Maybe this is chump change for UA, but that seems excessive. That kind of money is reserved for iconic athletes. Like Jordan and Tiger Woods... guys who brand can make a company triple that in a year.

I'm not sure KD is there yet, or ever will be. He hasn't even won a ring yet? May he goes off and get six in a row, but.... wow. Just wow.

I think LeBron makes 62 million off endorsements while KD makes like 15 million. This is an absurd deal, though. UA will never get back that money. KD isn't too marketable despite what everyone else thinks.

The funny thing is, the "humble" Durant will still chase that max deal.

Its not absurd.UA are not stupid....they are not going to throw that amount of money at someone without getting more back.

He is marketable as well. His jersey and shoe sales prove that. Rose is probably the only player more marketable

So taking money doesnt make you humble?

Why would taking money make you humble?

Taking less to help your team become more competitive and because you're earning over 30 times more than most players on endorsements alone. I would say that's humble.

Chasing all the money you can get to the point where you have more than you can spend. That's not humble.

People criticised Melo for taking money over contending... will Durant be immune to that just because people like him?

Imagine if LeBron got 300 mil in endorsements then signed that two year deal with Cleveland so he could chase a bigger max deal. People would be ripping him to shreds.

Guess we'll wait and see. Maybe he will surprise me.

The signing of Durant instantly increases the value of the company. UA will never catch up to Nike or Adidas but its good to see them making strides.

Why is every player compared to Lebron?

Also players taking less money is actually bad for the league. That means the best players getting huge shoe, contracts can take less money and join forces

That's a good thing IMO. Players should always take less money if it helps the team. They don't need all that money plus 300 mil in endorsements.

Weird deal. Having equity in a public company basically just means they are paying him in a **** ton of stock.

If underarmor loses value this deal doesn't look nearly as good...

I respect those who want to build enormous wealth and do big things for a long time past basketball.

You call it selfish, I call it awesome. These guys are afforded an opportunity of a lifetime, some blow it, some milk it while it lasts and than blow it, others create a legacy much greater than basketball.

If I was LeBron/Durant, I'd try to become part of the billionaire club too and make a mark on the world that goes beyond the basketball HOF.
