Pretty much this one.... by a mile :laugh2:

Although I think 97-98 is good too (but a lil repetition):

Payton
MJ
Malone
Duncan
Shaq

Kobe
KG

Can they beat 88?

Magic, Jordan, Bird, Duncan and I am torn at the center position between Kareem, Shaq and Olajuwon.

The 67 team is pretty sweet

Big O
West
Barry
Baylor
Wilt

WOW!

88:
Magic
Jordan
Bird
Barkley
Hakeem

89
Magic
Jordan
Barkley
Malone
Hakeem

97

Tim Hardaway
Jordan
Grant Hill
Karl Malone
Hakeem

03 is lacking a point guard but
Kobe
T-Mac
Garnett
Duncan
Shaq

Who is going to out-rebound that team? Or score in the paint?

Thought I would take 04
Kidd
Kobe
Garnett
Duncan
Shaq

13 is pretty amazing

CP3
Kobe
KD
LBJ
Duncan

Those are the best. I think 04 > 03 because that roster like that would need a point guard, but both might have too many bigs.

For my money I'd got with 67, 88 or 13 with 97 coming close behind.

88 and 89 stuck out the most. The 07-08 one might be the best in the last 10 years or so.

better yet, how many years back would you have to go to find the first team that would lose to a somewhat contemporary 3rd team? I think you have to go before 1980.

They'd take that team.

The 87-88 team is just too easy to choose. The only time someone would pick against Bird, Magic, Jordan, Hakeem, Barkley is to be different.

This is one of those "top 10 players of all time" except 5x harder because there are 5 players on a team. I don't think anyone can make an argument over another just based on the names on that team. Just too hard to pick. It's like asking which 5 man team would be the best.

CP3
Kobe
KD
LBJ
Duncan

If Kobe, and TD to a lesser extent, were in their prime I'd take this team over any team besides that 88-89 unit. That KG/TD/Shaq is hugely enticing, but I'd always rather go small than big. LeBron's in a top-3 to 5 peak ever, KD is in a top 3 or so scoring peak ever, CP3 is as good as any PG ever individually. :hide:

I'd take this if everyone was in their prime.

CP3
Kobe
KD
LBJ
Duncan

When their careers are donem Duncan is the 5-7th best player all time and best PF, Lebron will be 2nd best player all time and best SF. Kobe is in the top 10 and 2nd best SG. Durant will be 2nd or 3rd best SF all time and near the top 10, and Paul will be a top 3 PG all time.

As a team though that 88 team has everything.

Size. Their shortest player is 6'6". They have a pure PG who is one of the greatest passers ever. Which is something alot of allnba first teams lack.

Also Michael Jordan is your bonafide clutch performer. And jordan is a fantastic perimeter defender.

Bird is providing spacing with his shooting.

Barkeley is eating up all the rebounds.

Hakeem is providing elite level interior scoring and defense.

That team isn't missing anything

if prime,i still dont see how it isnt '88
greatest pg ever(already top 10 all time)
greatest player ever(top 1 all time)
2nd best sf ever(top 10 all time)
3rd best pf(top 20 all time)
probably 3rd or 4th best c(top 10 all timer)

At the end of the day, you're going to have the 2nd best, 5/6th best, 7/8/9th best, 9-12th best and 18-25th best (though Paul is just so good if you take away accolades, Paul is up there with any other PG pound for pound). players in that 2013 lineup if they were in their prime. Depends which you like.

On a 5 on 5 exhibition between those 2 teams, how much do you think titles would help Magic's ability to play on the floor?

I am surprised no one said the 03-04 team...

PG: Jason Kidd (top 5 PG of all time, two-way player)
SG: Kobe Bryant (top 2 SG of all time, two-way player)
SF: Kevin Garnett (top 5 PF of all time, two-way player)
PF: Tim Duncan (best PF of all time, two-way player)
C : Shaquille O'Neal (top 3 C of all time, two-way player)

That team scores efficiently, rebounds, defends, blocks shots...

Close second would be the 87-88 team.

PG: Magic Johnson (top 10 player of all time, two-way player)
SG: Michael Jordan (best player to ever play, two-way player)
SF: Larry Bird (top 10 player of all time, two-way player)
PF: Charles Barkley (top 15 player of all time, two-way player)
C : Hakeem Olajuwon (top 10 player of all time, two-way player)

Perfect combo of offense/defense and floor spacing.

No 87-88 is the worst defensively by alot. They could not defend the 03 team to save their lives. Where as 03 would be excellent defensively.
