View Full Version : Should NBA consider new modes?

Instead of going for the full 4th quarter game, should they consider a mode in which the first team that scores 100 points wins?

No, the wonderful game of basketball is absolutely fine as it is. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

6 timeouts each. No other stoppage. first to 100.

**** that, the team who can hit 30 3s wins. and the guy who shoots the most 3s gets a bonus.... can't wait to see the Dwight Howard/Andre Drummond/Andrew Bynum rivalry :laugh2:

Sports that aren't time locked play havoc on TV broadcasts, so no. No way I could watch a "first to 100" Pacers/Grizzlies game.

I like this guys idea better. Found this Gem on another Forum

"i think NBA should be outdoor NBA, then players would have to adjust to factors like wind, crowd, and assfault. players like rafer alston would be best in this environment because he can adjust to the elementals. ithink best team would be magic because he knows how to play street ball. played like half man half amazing could then be NBA all stars and revenue would be better because how big is outdoor? can hold millions. NBA will benefit, and so will players and fans. and also you can bring pets to game because it's outdoor."

Nope, i would hate having to watch a 3.5 hour game of combined 38% shooting. But that's a personal reason. The best answer for why this is a bad idea is changing the "mode" in which the winner is decided wouldn't help us as fans of the league discern which team was better. Over a 48min game, we know which team played better. Playing up to 100 doesn't offer a better avenue to discern that key element to all sports any better than the system we already have in place (not to mention, overtime)

outside would be good for like 1-2 regualr season games LOL but outside that i think most would like to keep it inside.

It should be sudden death, first to score 1 basket. No foul calls, anything goes. Raise the rim to 20 feet.

Put concrete walls along the sidelines and add an extra basket to each end. Oh, and some trampolines. Anyone remember Slamball on Spike Tv?

I can't take an idea seriously from someone that spells asphalt as assfault (how could you even possibly think that looks right? )

Get rid of basketball all together. Drop all of the teams off in the middle of the African jungle and have a Hunger Games teams style tournament to determine the champion.

Now that would be epic.

They should make it first to 10 points wins the game and have them play a couple of games each day.

Then in the playoffs, first to 15 points wins each game (more action! :jumpy: )2-3 games per night. Series goes to best out of 9 wins.

This could make the nba go soo much faster.. A whole season could be done in a couple months! :)

Or we could just keep the game as it is now..

They should run like 10 single elimination Tourneys throughout the year, however the catch is they have to use medicine balls instead of basketballs, should be interesting.

But to answer the previous question, basketball is great the way it is :)

Actually part of that is a good idea. They should have an international club knockout tournament. So like 4-8 NBA teams, a couple of spanish teams, a couple of israeli teams and greek teams. It would be like the champions league, but NCAA style tournament with say 32 teams and can take place after the season.

It would take about a month to complete.
