I'm sorry. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that terrible timing? Shouldn't they have done this right away so they could have offered Melo a much better deal and stolen him from the Knicks?

Melo knew what the offer would have been after the Boozer amnesty. Without a S&T, we we're only ever going to be able to offer him about 16 million a year to start.

I'm sure they offered a deal contingent on that, it'd be really stupid not to.

Im pretty sure they laid out what they were offering and if he were to say yes, cutting Boozer was an option. It's not like they had to find a trade partner.

i dont that that would have changed that.the meet and greet period happens before amnesty is possible and figures thrown around were with the assumption that this was happening

I'm sure you are all right but there is still a difference between hypothetical money and real money. The Cavs didn't tell LeBron "we're going to max trade to give you the max," they shipped Jarrett Jack's *** out of town.

No he didn't. Jerry Krause did; the egomaniac gm who clashed with Phil and MJ in numerous occasions.

No because Melo was gonna be a Knick since day 1 of FA.

I want the actual reasons people think he is cheap.

And don't give me the Deng trade. Deng was expiring, turned down an extension that was 10 mil more than he got on the open market, and brought back a first rounder, two 2nd rounders, as well as got us out of being a repeat luxury tax offender, giving us the ability to spend more later on.

If Miami doesn't sign another big, wouldn't mind Boozer cheap for rebounding. Never been a fan but cld use him for boards.

No team will claim Boozer for the minimum. So people should stop mentioning Miami or any team that only has the minimum.

Hornets or somebody will bid more than the mid-level.

at every point of his career thats been the case

That's really false. Boozer was nowhere near being worth his contract, but he certainly isn't terrible at basketball. Without looking at any numbers I'd bet he averaged 15 and 8 as a Bull, the only reason he's gone is because Gasol is a faaaar better fit.

I think I misunderstood, my mistake.

Boozer wants to go to Miami so bad that he will probably put the word out to teams that'll he'll pay them to let him clear waivers.

InRoseWeTrust
07-15-2014, 07:24 PM

Because it's a bidding process. If you want to make sure you get him, you have to make sure your bid is competitive.

If the Hornets get him it would actually be an upgrade over McRoberts.

jp611
07-15-2014, 07:28 PM

It's a blind bidding process.

All teams with cap space are allowed to bid on the player. Whatever team bids the highest gets player and pays him what they bid. The team who amnestied the player pays the difference in salary (although it does not count against the cap)

Yes, Boozer is better than McRoberts offensively and rebounding. We have other young players to mask the defensive issues it would pose.

I'd definitely not take Boozer over McRoberts anymore. McBob outplayed the Booz Cruise last season

Boozer was worse than watching paint dry. Worst defender in the nba. Only cool thing is that high acrhing shot.

I could have sworn the Bobcats/Hornets biggest problem last season was outside shooting and players who could create for themselves and others when Jefferson and/or Walker were on the bench.

Boozer is a worse shooter than McRoberts, and is a terrible isolation option at this point in his career. He is also a worse defender as his defensive IQ is crap.

Because on Miami he would be amazing.

It's like how they were so happy charmers conctract was up, and then they sign him back, "charmers will be good in the new offense, good signing."

Boozer wants Miami, not Miami wants Boozer.

I'm not saying Boozer is not a better player than McRoberts, I'm saying he's a horrible fit next to Jefferson.

Houstons better

Only way I want boozer with the rockets is if he comes cheap and off the bench. Hornets and hawks would be better fits.

Lol wut? Hypothetically, if that was the reasoning behind Melo not signing, then he and the Bulls FO are both stupid. First, Melo is not losing anything by waiting for the Bulls to amnesty Boozer. Hypothetical money or real money, the money will be there for him no matter what. And if the Bulls amnestied Boozer w/o a mutual aggrement with Melo and does not try to trade him, again w/o an agreement with Melo, then we just lose another piece and create a bigger hole in our roster while still paying Boozer.
