11 mil a year. Doubt he accepts but what would a trio of Millsap/Horford/Gasol do in the East added to a backcourt of Teague/Korver/Sefolosha?

ATL back to being the 3-5 seed every year and losing in the 2nd round

Let me guess, Rose is going to bring the Bulls a top 2 seed this year?

why would Gasol accept that offer? he rejected Lakers offer with almost same amount..

Of course not....
They will be the #1 seed only.... not top 2.

But seriously, the Hawks would probably be better served going younger and offer that to Stephenson.

I like what the Hawks are doing.

Great front court rotation and they have a good system and coach in place. I don't know why people get upset with being anywhere from 2-6 but in the playoffs.
Not every one can go to the finals. Sometimes consistency and stability can lead to the finals.

I want Lance anyways. A need at the wing and potentially a great fit next to Teague and Korver.

Me too, but wonder the amount he will get offered there. Ferry and Bud is trying to build the Spurs East in Atlanta, so either will fit Gasol.

The Bulls have nothing to do with my post nor did I say they would do anything worthwhile. They would be lucky to go on any sort of run relying on him.

To the original point, ATL, that team lacks a go-to scorer. Those try-hard type of teams just about never work out....lets use the Bulls of the last two years as an example? It's a good balanced deep team that would give the elite teams fits but thats all....maybe ECF in a weak year.

Nice move by the ATL, it would push them back above my Hornets for sure (not sure why we didn't offer Gasol) it appears the Jazz have every intention of matching for Hayward.

Dave McMenamin @mcten

Prior to today, LAL offered Pau Gasol two deals: 2 years, $23 mill and 3 years, $29 mill per league source. He turned down both offers.

How much can the Spurs even offer??

I just don't get Atlanta. They seem totally content settling for 5 seeds every year. Either go for a title or rebuild.

How I feel. Horford can't be our best player. Need upgrades or rebuild.

Welp, latest from ESPN is Chicago and Spurs are now the favorites to get Pau.

The Chicago Bulls and the San Antonio Spurs have emerged as the two leading contenders to land prized free-agent big man Pau Gasol, according to sources close to the process.

Only 4-5 more years of Pops to go... :p

It would definitely be less than what the Lakers offered. He would be going there because of Pop and a chance to win another ring.

Right, but how much less? Does anyone know how much cap space the Spurs have?

What about Luol Deng? I think he'd be great for you guys.

Bulls and spurs are the two teams that pau would be perfect for. I know there's some hate on pau but he's got plenty left in the tank and I feel like by January people are gonna talk about how he revived his career and made some team a legitimate contender

Seems he was Ferry's top option, but then supposedly Deng wants 12 mil a year and Ferry wants to keep flexibility with the cap, so passed. Ferry's plan has been to make smart cap decisions while putting good pieces together in a system so we can stay competitive while having a chance for when we can trade/sign/draft/etc a star player.

Looks like Gasol will be heading to Chicago in a S&T. Idk how legit this news is though.

They'd deff make the playoffs unless injuries Hawks got underrated talent that showed out in playoffs even tho they lost

I'm expecting the East to be way better than last year, but when Horford went down, we had the 3rd best record in the East. Seems we played down to opponents after that (almost looked like we were tanking to get out of the playoffs), but ended up 8th seed and had the Pacers on the ropes. No doubt if we had Horford, Pacers wouldn't have advanced (but they wouldn't have been 8th seed either).

I'm just hoping we find a starting wing and back-up center before the season starts.

My favorite piece on the Hawks is coach Bud (dare I say top 3 coach in the East). Hope to keep him for the long run, so whenever we get that star, we will be ready.

I'm guessing it does, but I don't have a clue when it comes to Chicago's cap situation.
