Apperently his ankles are in bad enough shape that surgery was considered and it has possibly had an impact on some of the Raps offseason moves such as picking up Hansbrough option.

Also mentions the sf position and how they may look at a cheap option like James Johnson.

No way to Alan Anderson and James Johnson. I mean I like both players but not on the Raps.

As for Amir, hopefully he can stay healthy but if he misses time, losing Patterson will hurt even more.

I actually would like Johnson as a nice short term option. He has been bounced around for the last few years which can help players realize what they need to do to stay in the league. And his skillset both defensively and offensively combined with his size is very intriguing IMO.

I like what he brings defensively but he can't shoot. I really think it's important to find a 3 and D sf.

Like JJs game, but the guy's got some serious off the court issues. Don't think Casey wants to deal with that.

Is rehab and rest normally better than surgery?

The kid has played a ton of minutes for 27 year old,his been in a league almost a decade.
He didn't have any issues with ankle when he coming off the bench,so maybe it's best not 2 start him..ie..25/30 minutes max. As for back 2 back games, rest him more, like San Antonio spurs do with..Tim Duncan,Ginobli,Parker.

Raps08-09 Champ

Coming off the bench won't do anything if he's playing the same minutes. He's not resting it enough. He played too much despite being injured this season.

Exactly why Patterson needs to be back. He should start and Amir should be coming off the bench.

Good thing he has an expiring contract. The man needs to rest, he's not a starter in this league. Bring back Patterson and start him instead for the time being. If LBJ leaves Miami go after Chris Bosh.

I was hoping to see them pick up Kaman and Fransisco Garcia, but Kaman got picked up by Portland. I'd love to see Masai get a legit 5 to play behind Jonas and still go after Garcia. A bench of GV - Williams - Garcia-PPat/Amir - and Kaman would have been nice. Hope they can find a C and if not Garcia, another good defender who can shoot as a bench 3.

aman_13

Didn't even realize Garcia is a FA. He would be a great addition to the Raptors bench. Although he could be out of the Raps price range. If they can get him for cheap, then the Raps should go after him.

Rashard Lewis is another option, played really well with the Heat in the playoffs.

don't we have an option on amir 4 like 7 mil, if he's in bad shape decline his o and start pp and then use that 7 mil 4 more bench depth at the 4.

Amir is guaranteed 5 million of the 7 million. Even if he wasn't shedding his 7 million doesn't give us 7 million in cap space to sign someone else. We are already over the cap. It makes no sense to part with Amir.

NYK want to get rid of A'mare and/or Bargs. Ship them Hayes + Buycks + Amir + ??? for A'mare + Hardaway Jr + ???. I know Stat is injury prone but used as our 6th man to replace PPat @ the 4 isn't all that bad. He wouldn't be a starter unless of injuries but could be useful. AH Jr is another young guy in the back court who stay or be traded. Thoughts??

The Toronto Raptors will meet with free-agent forward Andray Blatche Wednesday in Las Vegas, according to league sources.

The talented 6-foot-11 forward was a key member of the Brooklyn Nets last season, averaging 11.2 points and 5.3 rebounds off the bench.

Blatche, a 27-year-old veteran of nine seasons, has career averages of 10.1 points and 5.4 rebounds. He played the past two seasons in Brooklyn, but the Nets have not shown much interest in re-signing him.

His athleticism and versatility, however, would seem to make him a nice fit with the Raptors, one of the Eastern Conference's young, up-and-coming teams.

Sign Blatche, trade Hans for DeMarre Carroll, booyah.
