That is good news for the Lakers. If you play for a discount for us,you will be rewarded big! Scrubs actually grow with us. Hill,Ariza,Meeks, etc.

I totally agree with that. Some writer said (after the Meeks deal): "Former Laker free agent price = market rate + 30%".

There ya go. Everyone come here for a year and then cash out next season lol

Average pick-up. Kaman was bad last season. May find a second wind at the blazers.

Hope he's coming off the bench, he's not a starting caliber guy anymore

Kaman's been bad for a while now. But he's a backup now and so his impact will be limited, regardless.

Good fit, but 5/year on two year contract with second year option isnt bad at all

Really I'm guessing this is his last payday. He's trade bait next summer, with only $1M guaranteed.

He hasn't improved a team in years, inefficient bigmen who cant defend are not worth squat.

He's going to come off the bench and be a key contributor next season. Then everyone will be saying "where's this guy been?"
To which Laker fans will retort "buried on that idiots bench!"

not in love with the signing, cause i like them playing small ball with aldridge at C, but not bad at all. like lopez over him personally.

As a portland fan this is hard to like... of all the guys available, Kaman hasn't been useful in years. Plus he is injured for almost half the games each of the last few seasons. We didn't need a back up center, the main appeal would have been a big who could shoot 3s, but Kaman isn't that. I would have rather spent our mle on a decent back up PG if we couldn't get Hawes, Frye, McRoberts, etc.

Kaman was actually pretty solid last year, only playing about 19 mins a game, put up 10-6 and a block with a decent PER to match. If he can give the blazers that production at that price, very nice pick up

What a great pick up for Portland.

This is why PER is bunk, because it makes people think bad players with below average shooting efficiency and excessive turnovers are "decent".

Indeed

Look at the efficiency that comes along with that PER. Im a big supporter of PER but you have to know its weaknesses, its overrating this particular chucker.

Nothing of crazy, but a good piece for the bench. And Blazers definitely need one.

I'm surprised they went in this direction so quickly. He's an opposite of Robin Lopez, and there was rumored interest in Spencer Hawes, who is better and younger than Kaman. I guess maybe they thought Hawes wasn't interested in them? He went to college at Washington though, so I bet he would have considered Portland if the money on his other offers was similar. I think they definitely overpaid for the production that Kaman will give them. He hasn't been an impact player the last few years.

This is bad news for Charlotte, McBob will want even more than that.
