The Atlanta Hawks have reached an agreement with free agent Thabo Sefolosha on a three-year, $12 million deal, sources told ESPN.com on Thursday.

The Hawks were looking to add a wing player who could be a defensive specialist after trading away Lou Williams to the Toronto Raptors last week.

Nice bench piece for ATL.

I expect Ferry to pull of a bigger move (possible trade as we are extending the waive period of Salmons' contract for some reason and still have cap space). For this though, we have a system in place and they seem to think he fits, so I approve.

A low key, good signing. I'm surprised a contender didnt get him, could've been a pivotal piece to the puzzle......

He needs to really work on his release. I feel like he takes too much time to get a shot off.

In the East, you never know. Atlanta quietly has a nice team/foundation to work with. If they were healthy, it's possible they beat Indy in round 1.

It's over 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which matters because that's about what I'd pay Sefolosha at this point. Big time over pay.

We were 3rd in the East until Horford went down and the injury bug started biting. No excuses because every team gets injuries, but I like what we're doing. There has to be one or two more "big" moves for the Hawks and we'll see how solid we are. And by "big" I mean "Hawks 'big'" ... not "big" like a Melo or James lol

Exactly. It was their first year together for the most part, so they aren't at the point where they can get all these injuries and still be successful. Milsap I thought was a steal, and I'm expecting maybe another move like that for you guys.

Admittedly, I'm kind of a bandwagoner now because I want to see Budenholzer do well, and like that he will be in a stable organization with Ferry there.

Thabo is a quality defender and Hawes is a nice piece to stretch the floor but these are guys who you put around superstar players you dont build a team of them which is what the HAWKS have done.

1, we don't have Hawes. 2, Thabo is coming off the bench most likely, so we are not building a team of 'them' when he is hired to do a job (defend and knock down the 3). Role player for role player duty.

People can hate on Horford's star marketability or Millsap for that matter, but if the both of them stay healthy together finally, it's called basketball, and these 2 is the best front court in the East. Of course we don't have a shoe seller, yet, but we have building a team full of guys that play their roles perfectly. The offense is designed for no one player to hog the ball anyways, so no need for a Melo.

We also are not done yet, and Ferry's #1 goal is to finally find a star player, so it isn't like he is ignoring it. If we can't get a Lebron, we stay flexible with the cap all the time until we sign/trade/draft one.

Why so defensive? I never said Thabo was starting. I said most of your roster is made up of players of role player quality which is the truth except for Horford. Nobody is "hating" on the Hawks they are sorely lacking in the talent department but he have good Coach and GM who looks like he has a long term plan that doesn't involve tanking which is respectable but leaves the Hawks treading water.

I can't see why it's the truth.
Millsap is by far the best PF in the East. You can argue for Chris Bosh who played C too.

So last year's all-star Millsap is a role player as well? And 16/7 Teague? I just don't know what the alternate is, except for joining most of the East in tankville. We can't lure a Lebron to the Hawks so we find players that fit in the Spurs offense that we are running. Right now, free agents not yet signed aside, we are the one of the most well built 'teams' in the East IMO.

By Far? Jeez some people will go to great lengths to make a point

So you can argue he was FAR better than Carmelo Anthony who played the majority of his minutes at PF?

Give me a break Millsap is a role player on 100% of good teams just like he was in Utah.

So Utah was a good team but not the Hawks? I will gladly be in the Hawks position before Utah or especially the Knicks, even with Melo, as it seems they need all the Millsaps that they can get.

Um ok.....Millsap was on the Jazz the majority of his career splitting back up PF duty with Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors and I'm supposed to believe he was by far the best PF in the East last year. Haha

And let's be real, if the Hawks was called the New York Hawks with how the media and fans overrate the New York teams yearly, this board and ESPN would be flooded with 'Hawks are title contenders'.

I give you that, Carmelo is better than Millsap. Lebron who played PF sometimes is better than Millsap too. And I'm pretty sure that if Joakim Noah played some minutes PF, he's better than Millsap too.

But Millsap is better than the following:
Central
David West
Tristan Thompson
Carlos Boozer/Taj Gibson
Greg Monroe/Josh Smith
Ilyasova

Atlantic
Garnett?
Young
Sullinger
Bargnani or whoever is their PF
Johnson

Southeast
McRoberts
Orlando PF :)
Nene

I give you Bosh, Lebron and Carmelo. Being worse than these 3 guys doesn't mean being a role player you know?

Just because Millsap is better than a bunch of PF in the East doesn't mean he is a very good/great player it just means the East has a ton of crappy PF's

The Hawks have been good, but not great for as long as I can remember. I figured their fans had settled on that, and instead you think Milsap is the best PF in the east.

It's not even about Monroe, although yeah that's highly debatable. So are Taj & West. Bosh if being considered is far and away the better player.

It has nothing to do with the signing, and mind your business.

I like the signing of Sefolosha, and obviously I think they are currently better than my team. They're still not worth talking about.

They definitely overpaid for such a limited player. If a player is not a threat to score it limits your entire offense's potential, regardless of their value on defense.

If he can be good on defense and they can get him to consistently knock down open/corner 3's, then I say mission accomplished on their part. They won't ask him to do a lot offensively, so he will just need to hit the shots he gets.

He will be in a reserve role, and our offense is based on ball movement, no isolation, and provides strength to the 3 point shot, which he can knock down.

Hawks run an actual offense set as compared to his last team which rely on 2 guys to iso and score on each trip down. Kind of hard to get in a groove as a role player there.

Most importantly we needed wing depth and defense.

Millsap was not a role player at all in the Sap/Jefferson era
