The Detroit Pistons are expressing serious interest in RFA Isaiah Thomas, according to sources. They're in heavy pursuit of the point guard.

PG: Isaiah Thomas
SG: Jodie Meeks
SF: Josh Smith
PF: Greg Monroe
C: Andre Drummond

That's a nice young team especially if Jodie Meeks pans out. Thomas is very underrated IMO. Averaged 20 and 6 last season.

Suddenly this Pistons team doesn't look half bad.

Still not a fan of Smith at the 3.

So what happens to Jennings?

Looking like a 3 year 24 million is the contract they offered, IT is a RFA so something will be coming back I'm sure .. Kings didn't want to give IT more than 6 per year

Doesn't change a whole lot for Detroit, the big problem is Smith Monroe and Drummund have 0 chemistry together

If the 3-5 consists of Smith, Drummond and Monroe then it still looks bad.

Wtf? That team looks like trash. Back court and wing defense is non existent. Smith looks so slow and helpless defending SFs.

Monroe is also underrated at how bad he is defensively.

I don't think Monroe or Smith will be on the Pistons roster next year

The starting 5 looks flawed as hell. Isiah is a huge upgrade from Jennings but that front court just doesn't fit. They might as well trade Jennings and smith together to get a stretch 4 or something

clearly SVG thinks he can move him later. But I don't see them gaining positive value when he has 2 years $17 left.

Like everyone's said, so long as they're starting Smith, Monroe and Drummond together, it's just gonna hold them back. I really think they gotta hope they can S&T him away and slide Smith back to the 4. I think that will make a world of difference. Smith is a liability at the three. He's still a good player at the 4.

My guess is Jennings to a 6th man role. Probably better off there anyways.

I just can't imagine a world where SVG is down with Smoove playing the 3. He had Shard at the 4 for the vast majority of his time in Orlando and it worked great. Smoove's no different.

No one finds it funny that the Pistons want Isaiah Thomas, who has that name because his father lost a bet?

Jesus, Pistons are trying to buy everyone lol. Idk, with Jennings there, I don't see why Isiah would sign there.

He is an underrated player that I wouldn't mind my Lakers giving an offer for.

Alex Kennedy ‏@AlexKennedyNBA

Isaiah Thomas grew up as a Lakers fan, so getting that call must have been special. Last week, he told me LA offer sheet would "mean a lot."

I really really hope it's true. I would love for the Lakers to go after him. Signing him and Melo would be amazing.

this team is a god damn joke if they sign Thomas...if they do would they even have enough cap space to sign Monroe?

Would Detroit be going after him if his name wasnt Isaiah Thomas? What if he becomes a Piston great? Will they have two Isaiah Thomas jerseys retired?

If we're dealing with the Kings, Smith will be involved with this, so if we grab Thomas, Sac will throw in some fillers with bloated contracts to make things work out

I don't like that starting lineup with the addition of Thomas. They have to trade Smith and keep Munroe and Drummond

Would a Sign and trade of Thomas(and filler) for Josh Smith make sense on Sacramento's part?
A lot of Piston fans seem to want McLemore included as well...

If we don't want to pay him what Detroit offers, sure. I don't think we'd include McLemore, but probably someone like Derrick Williams or Jason Thompson who have some value if the salaries need matching.

They need to find a way to replace J Smith with somebody like Parsons or Deng. JSmoove's shot selection is :puke: and stops the offense too much.

Smith can't play the 3. They need to move him especially if they are going to match any offer Monroe gets.

IndyRealist

If you ignore everything he doesn't do, Meeks shot the ball really well last year. Meeks also had 2 previous years where he hit similar numbers, so I'm leaning toward this not being a fluke season and more of an improvement. He's certainly better than a Nick Young or Jordan Crawford. Simply put, SG is a really thin position, and you're going to have a slight overpay to steal anyone halfway decent.

For Thomas, I think he's a replacement for Jennings. BJ seems to be a better passer, but he simply can't score from anywhere on the court. I don't know how they move Jennings and his contract, though.

Maybe its too early to judge but I think Stan Van Gundy is doing a terrible job thus far. Am I in the minority that jodie meeks should be playing for like 2-3 million a year TOPS? what am i missing? he averaged like 7 points a game on absolutely horrendous team!

He scored 16 PPG on a TS% of .601 (good for 12th in the league).

If you don't have any clue as to what you're talking about then pipe down.

Too early...
I wouldn't judge his GM abilities off of one signing... Knowing that there is many more to be made for the Pistons. Signing Isaiah Thomas and what follows next would speak louder IMO because multiple moves would be needed.

I wish people would do their research before they make false claims.

1. Meeks averaged 15.7 points
2. He also did it at a clip of 40% three pointers, 51% two pointers, and 46% FG overall.
3. Could his points be inflated? Perhaps. But he was also the most consistent player on a team and played solid defense and while having Nick Young and Pau Gasol chuck up more shots than him.

Due to the Lakers bad year last season, I can understand most people not seeing one single game but at least get your facts straight before you talk please. -_- it gets really annoying when people spit out numbers with no facts to back them up.
