View Full Version : Will the Heat Re-Sign Chalmers?

Now that it seems Kyle Lowery is out of the picture do the Heat just save face and resign Chalmers. Personally they took a huge hit if they can`t sign Lowery and have no choice but to resign Chalmers it`s only gonna get worse and his playoffs numbers will be worse next season.

In a word, no.

If the big 3 stay together they need somebody to yell at ,so i'm going to go with yes :laugh2:

They've already got 2 point guards, neither of which will be their primary or secondary ballhandler. So in a word, no. He'd be a good fit with the Rockets if they can shed Lin.

They'll be worse if they don't resign him.

A scub? What's a scub? As for Chalmers, only vets min for me in his sorry butt, but he should go play for the same team Mr. Carlos Arroyo plays on.

I'm not sure why Heat fans **** all over Chalmers so much. Yeah, he played like dog **** in the finals but if it wasn't for Chalmers you guys don't ring in 13.

What do you mean scrub he is a two time champion.

Matt Bonner too.

He'd be cheap so I don't think it would be a big deal to re-sign him. Maybe a 3 year deal with 3rd year being a team option. He can start next year until Napier is ready.

You can't expect an all star at every position

one year minimum contract, unless he has suitors which i doubt, can't really hurt tbh. also you can't forget all those times he came up big, dude has been here since the start.

I wouldn't re-sign if I were him. Go get your money Rio, this time next year we'll be having the "Kyle Lowry is a bum" threads.

Chamlers isn't a scub

Heat fans fret no more this tweet by Tim Reynolds makes it sound like Chalmers getting offered a contract :laugh2:

"Also, was just told that Mario Chalmers will get shown some Heat love tonight. More on that later."

Too be honest, it would not be a terrible idea. I know Heat fans will hate to hear this but with Lowry seemingly out of reach, and guys like Mills and Vazquez are probably unattainable as well, Chalmers might be the next best choice. Napier is still unproven so he should only be seen as a depth pick, we still need a PG.

I'm not sure CJ Miles, Steve Blake, or Aaron Brooks are an upgrade over Chalmers. Maybe we could look at Devin Harris, but Chalmers has been with the team for 6 years now and knows the system and has an established relationship with the organization. Between the 2, I say bring Chalmers back. We need to remember, he has done a lot more for us than having a bad 2014 playoffs.

However, because he was so unreliable in major situations, he should not make $4 million a year anymore, and he should only be brought back for the short term (I would go 2 years, $5.5 million or so, possibly a team option for the second year). That way he gets to stay on the team but under a team controlled contract. I would also make him compete against Cole for his starting job in camps and pre season.

His terrible play ruined his chance at a good contract, but we gotta think of the 6 years he has had, not just the last postseason.

I updated the thread title to make it a little less offensive
