What are the expectations surrounding him this coming season, can he make a difference for Philly?

if he puts up 3-4 blks per game, he'll make a difference. I don't think his offense is all there but if he can hustle, rebound and block shots, major difference.

Will he be ready for training camp, what the word?

We will get to see him at Vegas and Orlando summer league. Should have a better idea after that.

I still think he'll be the best player when all is said and done out of the 2013 draft

Nerlens was a monster at Kentucky. 6ers gunna have an amazing young core.

I would say if he's Ben Wallace but with more speed, the 76ers have enough evidence to be happy. Detroit won that 04 title w/ the team aspect.

I had the same reaction and I love Nerlens.

I think expectations in Philly are a more athletic Camby/ Tyson Chandler type.

Not a superstar but hopefully he'll be a rangy defensive-anchor in the post for years to come.

I recall a Sixers fan on here saying he's been working on a mid range jumper all year. If true, combined with his athleticism and defensive prowess, he could challenge for ROY if the Sixers give him a lot of burn.

The East has been so bad, but hopefully we are going to see that start to change with the young players finding their way. I have a feeling Noel will be a good player, but with this draft class coming in it is likely his success will be overshadowed. I am hoping the best for Philly tho, I like the way they are putting things together.

:laugh2: last years league leader in block's didn't even average 3.

What are the expectations surrounding him this coming season, can he make a difference for Philly?Continue to develop his skill set, even when it's detrimental to the 76ers' record, so Noel can be a good asset for trading or building upon.

I don't watch college basketball so I'm not sure what to expect from Noel coming into this season?

I hope there's not a ton of pressure on him to dominate the post yet because, this will really be his rookie season. I would be happy if he stayed healthy, averaged 8 to 10 rebounds a game and 1.5 blocks.

I'm really interested if he was able to develop some offensive skills during his recovery last year? Develop one or two go to moves in the post and develop a reliable 14 foot jumper would be a great improvement for his game.

He's been good to go since April. He's past recovery and is further along and stronger than where he was before the injury. He's playing in both summer leagues for us I believe, so you'll get to see him in game action by the second week of July.

Gonna take him a while to get his game going again I expect. I think something like 8/8 with a few blocks next year would be a good start. As for long term projections - I see him as a great defensive presence, and someone who could be maybe the third best player on a contender. I think he could be like Joakim Noah if his offensive game develops a bit. An athletic center who can run the floor and just wreaks havoc.

Yes, according to the reports, he's been working on his shot and the team is so pleased with it, they believe it can be an asset. Obviously, we'll see when he plays in live games but so far so good I guess.

I wouldn't expect more then a solid defender and shot blocker in his 1st year. His offensive game was really raw in college and now he just took a full year off from competitive play so he wont have much of an impact there. Once he figures it out offensively I think he could be a 15/10/2.5 type of player and he could end up the best player out of the draft class.

I'm kinda stunned how optimistic people are. I mean, I am too...he's who I long wanted Orlando to draft, but he seemed to be VERY polarizing a year ago, even before the injury. No one really has been negative in this thread. Just interesting...

Blockshots, rebound, control the paint and occasionally knock down 15 footers...yeah I say he can make a difference.

He will be a defensive force.

He could very well end up being the ROY.

I expect a near -double-double season with some sweet shot blocking, All-Rookie first team and maybe even a Defensvie team nod (thought that is unlikely).

I really hope he goes under the radar with this years draft coming in and he just pieces it together over the season, I could see him having a year like drummonds rookie year without the same efficiency and impact
