Poor guy, had some talent but I'm glad they found early, he gets in the NBA grind could have killed him:(...really cool that Baylor wants to have him finish his degree and coach there.

Sad news. This is like winning a multi-million dollars lottery and lost the ticket. I hope Baylor takes care of him

Was one of the top recruits in his class, then, there was the whole eye thing, which dropped him down about ten to fifteen picks in a lot of scouts eyes, and he persevered through that, now he has this thrown at him.

Definitely feel sorry for him. Hopefully, he studied well at Baylor because hes gonna have to put that education to use. One of the reasons why they should raise the age limit to enter the NBA, although, this is a freak accident.

Really sucks, but I am glad they found out early, could have been way worse if they hadn't

Would be cool to see Philly use their last 2nd rounder (since they have 5) to draft him. Sign to a one day contract. Donate some money to the foundation. Let him be an ambassador for the disease.

Truly overwhelmingly gutted for this young man. He's been fighting for a long time just to play basketball and overcoming odds to get where he is and now 4 days before he's drafted, he gets this horrible news.

The interview really shows how heartbroken he is. I can't blame him.

Could not feel worse for him. the timing of it is just extra salt in the wound too, days before the draft.

It could be a blessing however that he declared this year. If he'd stayed and played at Baylor another year, this story could have been a lot more tragic

He has a $1 million dollar insurance policy so at least he'll get that. Probably continue studying at Baylor and they already said he can be on the coaching staff

@darrenrovell: Isaiah Austin loses his NBA dream, perhaps has his life saved & has a $1M insurance policy http://t.co/jbC4aQgths
