Normally I don't try to play armchair psychologist, but I just don't see the Heat from 1-15 busting their hump at this point.

Lebron, Bosh and Wade aren't stupid.

They know that the odds of winning this series from being down 3-1 is pretty close to zero. They also know that they're in the East and barring a catastrophe they have an annual cakewalk to the ECF, and that right now there are no credible contenders to the Finals in the East given that the Pacers are a wreck, the Nets are are nowhere near being contenders, and the Bulls being a non-threat due to lack of scoring.

They're tired, they're banged up, they know they're going into the off season with player options and the possibility to sign with either another team, or re-sign with the Heat to make cap space to get more help (and a more credible run in 2015). Why on earth would they put everything on the line for a near lost cause when they weren't even putting everything on the line in a must win game 4?

Wade can just roll out another hidden injury excuse. Bosh can just say that he was playing his role. Lebron still has nice box stuffing stats.

Between the Spurs being favorites through displayed dominance through the play offs and the complete MIA play of Chalmers and Cole, they have a perfect set of scapegoats to let them off the hook.

And let's not forget this is their 4th finals run and they already have 2 championships. They're not going to have the same desperation as some bunch of young guys chasing their first chip who'll risk life and limb on a lost cause, especially since none of them (except Battier) are considering retirement any time soon.

I think it's quite possible that they'll put in a decent effort initially and see how it goes, but if it starts going bad they'll go through the motions, lose the game and congratulate the Spurs for being an amazing team. Then regroup for next season.

Could the Heat win? Sure. However, I think the Spurs take game 5.

Miami played better in both road games. This is a weird series. I could see Miami winning and that scares me, cause Spurs would need to win again in Miami. And if it gets to game 7 all bets are off at that point.

Spurs have never lost a game 5 in the finals before, so anyone who cares about that sort of stat, there's that. Doesn't mean much to me because as we saw last year, anything can happen.

Spurs close it out here, I see Miami putting up a fight because they have nothing to lose and I see that hurting them because they will be too aggressive and may get into foul trouble. I see Danny Green going off because we know how he plays at home and Manu having a good game as well. I just don't see the Spurs laying a egg here pr thinking ahead because of last year, Pop have these guys thinking they're the ones down and need to win.

Just a lil FYI (for me lol)... 7 years has passed since the Spurs last won a championship, Tomorrow is the 7th day of the week, Duncan was drafted in 97 and is playing in his 17th season and I've been a Spurs fan since I was 7 so please guys lets close this out! :hope: hell and what better way to do it at home on Father's Day

Miami has never lead by more than 7 this series. Their biggest leads by game I believe has been 7,5,2,2. Spurs have proven they've been the better team. Closeout games are a different animal. We'll see what they're made of tomorrow.

It would be so awesome if they could close it out tomorrow. I think it'd be great to win on a last second shot, but I'd be happy with a blowout again :) But yea... I'm so screwed up by previous series, that I refuse to think it's over until it truly is.

BTW, I just saw your post about 7's lol. It seems fitting!

I do not believe this is how we are going to go out. I believe we are gonna show some fight. We are not gonna blow San Antonio out in their own building, but with our backs against the wall and San Antonio with a slight lead late I think we make a stand, and take this game in a thriller to send this series back to Miami.

Spurs for the win.

Amazing to think how easily this series could have been a sweep. In Game 2, I remember Parker and Duncan both missing 2 free-throws (for a total of -4 pts) late in the game.

This series could have been over right now, which shows how unmatched this Finals has been.

Of course, everyone dismissing the Heat is really going to motivate them. They have a lot of talent. Add extra motivation and a fresh score sheet and this could be a very different game.

Yeah but the series is over by Tuesday. Miami looks tired early in game 4. You think they can go all out today, tuesday and thursday I just don't see it happening. Spurs know that they can't let this game go back to miami so they will be just as motivated. This series ends tonight it's just a matter of will the heat fight or fold.

I mean yeah they could win and I live here in Miami and many people here lost faith and hope and some say they rather lose tonight than at their home floor, Lebron in his interview the other day just looks defeated and tired also which I know at game time will change. I just want The Spurs to end it tonight so The Heat don't have an ounce of faith restored.

I hope to see the crowd into it and the spurs feeding off that energy and close it out :hope:

I feel the same way about it motivating Miami. The other (much much smaller) side of me though feels like the Spurs have been the better team every game thus far. Even I thought in either game 3 or 4 Miami would come out with crazy energy and be extra motivated, and it just hasn't happened. Even Game 2 where they won, they were down double figures in the 2nd quarter. Had Lebron not went nuts, who knows what happens.

That small part of me, which I refuse to let be bigger than my cautious and paranoid part, tells me maybe SA is just better, and can counter whatever Miami throws at them.

Interesting lineup choice for a deciding game of the Finals. This unit almost never plays on the floor together. Reeks of a desperation move, but they have to try something. Spurs bench could exploit this though.

I had forgotten that all game threads on PSD are just fans complaining about whistles all day. If I was a mod I'd honestly just infract users for complaining about officials in the game thread. Treat it like refs giving players a T. There will be bad calls (more than likely most will go the Spurs way tonight as they are at home), and 95% of the time the better team will still win. Do we have to whine about every whistle and think it's a league fix? It's so juvenile and annoying. And wrong.
