An incredible stat I saw to illustrate how evenly matched these 2 teams are:

"Last fourteen games between the Spurs and Heat: Spurs 1386 points, Heat 1385"

I hope I am proven wrong, but I think Miami wins this one.

LeBron was pretty amazing in game two. he got easy looks and was cooking them from the perimeter too. I think Miami takes game three but who knows.

Key to the game has to be Kawhi Leonard. He's not presenting a threat to LeBron at all. If he plays subpar again and guys like Lewis and Battier are able to shut him down, that lets LeBron shut Parker down when the game matters most. Kawhi has to step it up if the Spurs have any hope of winning the series. Right now, LeBron is getting in the lane at will and having to expend very little energy on defense. That's not good for San Antonio.

Role players play better at home. That's just fact. I think you'll see Chalmers, Allen, and Battier hit more 3s than Green, Belinelli, and company. Heck, even Wade seems to be more geared up when the games are in Miami. If that's the case, and the Spurs still can't slow LeBron down, then Miami takes Game 3 and sets up what's basically a must-win game 4 for San Antonio.

Timmy looked pissed after G2. I think Spurs will play big, Miami will knock 3's, but Spurs win a very very close one.

Lebron was just too much, I can't think of anyone who could have defended him in that game.

Lebron was just too much, I can't think of anyone who could have defended him in that game.

The weird thing is that last year they were forcing Lebron to play off the wing so that way he had the boundary line on one side. Now he's playing more in the middle of the court which NO one has a chance one on one against Lebron with space. I liked the Spurs strategy last year to keep Lebron isolated on one side of the floor, and use Kawhi and a help defender so he's forced to take a jump shot. Last game they were giving him the middle of the floor which isn't fair at all to Kawhi. He also needs to take a step back. He's trying to play Lebron too close which is causing him to get into foul trouble.

Just waiting for one team to stop hitting insane amounts of threes. It's the story that no one is talking about. Neither team can consistently shoot this well from three. There's so little room for error that it almost feels inevitable that a poor night from three will cost a team a win soon. Both teams are so dependent on it. I've always felt the Heat go from being beatable to unbeatable based on how they're shooting, mainly the supporting cast because that's what the supporting cast does best and if they aren't doing it then they aren't doing much. LeBron will give you enough to win 9 times out of 10. Wade and Bosh usually are solid enough. But the thing that puts them over the top is Lewis/Allen/Chalmers/Cole/Jones/Battier hitting the open shots created for them.

LeBron's threes, and just overall game, really helped overcome the bench's shooting woes, but as a team they still were over 40%. The cast needs to shoot better. San Antonio has been way over 40% in both games as well, and assuredly there will be a down tick eventually.

The Heat are rightfully favorites tonight. I'd imagine it's more likely they win than not! Wouldn't be surprised if they don't, but they are more likely. So I'll pick them.

Hey Jeffy25,
I was specifically focusing on his game-long D on LeBron. I can't see any way he could have defended him better. He was on top of him virtually all 24 seconds EVERY play. He had his hand in his face on most shots. You can't ask for more from someone defending the game's (current) greatest player. After his slow-start, LeBron was hitting everything from everyWHERE. I felt/feel nothing but sympathy for Sugar; he played his azz off. Nobody could have done more.

"Jordan Rules" Didn't Work That Well VS MJ; They'd "Work" Even Less Well Against LBJ

Hey *Superman*,
This thought was recurring to me throughout Gm 2 (and pre: no-AC, Gm1).
Like, "make the rest of the HEAT beat you".

I just don't think it'd work:
1) It's just harder to stop LBJ than it was MJ; because he's bigger/stronger & shoots a better percentage from every range than MJ did.

2) He's a WAY better passer than even MJ; you double/triple him - he kills you with picture-perfect-passes.

3) If I were Pop, I'd "let" LeBron get his 30-40; and only go "Jordan Rules" if he hits that mark at half-time!

Gm 3: LeBron Dominates At Both Ends Of The Court; SPURFECTION not withstanding.

IF LeBron is gonna have an off-game, it's NOT gonna be this Gm 3. He's gonna come still hyper-hyped (newly invented "word", word, dawg!).

IF the HEAT lose this game, imo, they lose the series (can't beat these Spurs 3 out of 4 times esp. with 2 of those games in S.A.).

Half-Time: Spurfection by 3-5.
("Spurfection" "newly" invented during Gm 2 of these Finals, by Mr. Nomeclaturer Himself, "Just 'Pablo' ")

Mid-Way 3rd Quarter: HEAT by 5-10, their 3s falling better than at any other time (game & series).
This might SEEM like a Spurs lapse, but it will really be the HEAT in HEAT.

Last 18 minutes: Even.

Final Score: HEAT * 110, SA 104

* I've been writing the word with all caps: HEAT because I read somewhere that that IS the correct way to write it. PLEASE, correct me if I'm wrong. (I'm not even a HEAT fan; and sure don't want to appear to be a rabid one - I reserve my rabidity for "my" Lakers.)

There's a reason why game 3 is a huge deal.

Game 3 situations:

Miami up 2-1
Spurs down 1-2

Winning three games out of four remaining is insanely tough. It's why most game 3 winners go on to win the championship.
With that being said, I don't know which team comes out on top. I have a feeling it will be the Spurs just because Pop will know what to change.

I was semi-joking when I made the post, I saw ESPN's 30 for 30 Bad Boys and that was the reasoning behind it. But yeah, I do agree that I'll let the Heat beat me as a team rather than LeBron himself. And point noted that he is a way better passer than Jordan was. I still think some of it can be implemented. If the ball isn't in LeBron's hand, he can't hurt you with his passing, scoring (to an extent, ex: cutting) and play making. I'd love to see KL stick to LeBron full court and try his damn best to keep the ball out of his hands. After that send some double teams to Bron and test to see if the Heat's 3 point shooters are on or off. I realize none of this would happen because the Spurs don't play this way, but it's something I would like to see.

Also, they worked quite well for three season for the Pistons, after that the Bulls neutralized it.

I'd be scared to see that as a fan of the other team. Once he starts knocking down those 3s, he is even harder to guard. Even if it looks like a **** shot.

There's more to it that "he won't keep nailing those shots all game". Not that defenses don't go all out on him already, but if anything it keeps them even more on their toes further opening things up for others and creating lanes to the rim. It's bad news when he's hitting them, no way around it.

Well they are coming late in the shot clock, so they are expending energy in the process, even Lebron. I just would live with those rather than say Allen getting open looks or James driving it in and drawing fouls
