First time I'm feeling good about going into okc. I have a feeling that westbrook will try to do too much to keep them in it. I'm thinking it'll be another double digit victory by the spurs.

Interesting, I feel pretty nervous about it. They are a different team at home in many ways. I hope you're right though :)

I think they figured it out in game 5. I heard on ESPN something about ibaka staying home in the paint and just letting diaw and Bonner have the open shots to avoid opening up the lane. If you have to resort to saying I'm just going to give good shooters open shots you're pretty much done unless brooks has some miracle adjustment I see spurs by double digits but it'll still be a close game through out most of it

Yes, we all know how OKC won't make adjustments.

I'm not saying they won't make adjustments I just don't know if they have one that will counteract the one pop did for game 5 nor can I think of one that would possibly work in their favor

I don't think there's been a game where he's gotten more than 16. The same with Westbrook. I'm sure they'll get some favorable calls but it's all about the spurs keeping their pace. If they do that then I just can't see okc beating them tonight. We shall see

spurs4#5
05-31-2014, 02:47 PM
Yeah I don't know about all that. I'm more of a realist and go game by game. There's no way to tell how the finals series will go. But if okc does go to the finals I could agree with them getting a beat down by Miami. They're just not equipped to face them in a 7 game series

Thinking on laying some money on this game. Obviously OKC is the favourite the spread is -4. The way the series has gone it's easy to say bet OKC to win at home by double digits. But my gut tells me Spurs get it done tonight. The adjustments I saw from the spurs in game 5 I don't know how OKC can make adjustments to that.

If they don't the spurs will win. But will Ibaka stay in the paint and leave Diaw and Bonner open at the 3pt line. That's playing with fire. What do you guys think?

OKC or Spurs whose your money on?

I wonder the adjustment OKC gunna make to Duncan or Splitter + 4 shooters.
I think either they're gunna stick with their line-up, but leave the big man shooter open (Diaw or Bonner).
OR
They play small w/Ibaka at the 5.

Pablonovi
05-31-2014, 08:31 PM
I'm also picking OKC.
I think a blow out helps OKC more than S.A> because OCK has less players - KD ande Westy esp. need as much recovery-time because of how much harder they have to work than the Spurs who are playing 8+ deep easily.

For me Westy is THE Key. IF his speed is out-of-this world; AND he can keep it up for 40 minutes. (Or at least until it's a blow out - if that happens); then OKC's got it. If not, then the Spurs.

Diaw is the only guy who can consistently have success against Ibaka in the post. Ibaka is obviously a great shot blocker, but not so much in the post. He often bites on pump fakes and Diaw is clever enough around the rim

Who would have thunk he'd have the success both Team-wise and individually he's had.
A consummate professional; great Union Rep; 5 Chips (and maybe 1 more?)
Great team-mate.
All-Time Leader (by a lot now) in Play Off games played.
In the top 25 in minutes played.

Pablonovi
05-31-2014, 08:58 PM

Noone wants to see Spurs-Miami finals 2 years in a row, NBA will make sure that won't happen. Its gonna be Durant-LeBron again in the finals, thats what most of us want to see, and finals will probably go to 6 or even 7 games this time (thanks to refs on OKCs side again). Just watch how OKC wins game 6 and win game 7 shocker in San Antonio.

If the Spurs clean up their turnovers (giving away way too many unforced) and continue to get open from 3, they have a shot to steal this. They should be happy to be down only 7. Shooting 38% from the field and 22% from 3 is not a recipe for success.

It's the superstars. Durant is the league MVP, but he's just not the draw that LeBron is on the national stage.

Duncan is an all time great, but he's just not the draw that Kobe was and still is on the national stage (despite being injury prone these last couple of yrs).

The story of this game and this second half.
Can KD & Westy maintain a high enough energy being forced to play max minutes again?

Pablonovi
05-31-2014, 09:41 PM
Low scoring almost always favors the slower team; usually SA is the faster team; here they are the slower. OKC's gotta speed it up in the second half. We'll see if SA allows that.
First half coaching: Pop over Brooks by a(n ugly) nose.

As long as SA keeps this within 10, OKC is forced to play their two Super-Stars MAX minutes. That favors SA both late in this game; and if not now, for game 7. They're slowly but steadily wearing the two of them out.

Pablonovi
05-31-2014, 09:47 PM
OKC, moving their bench scorer to the starting line up has left their bench almost punchless. DFish is just too slow for SA - he can't stop anybody here; and he can only get 3s; not enough of them to validate keeping him on the floor. Tough choices all around for OKC because of SA's depth - no matter who SA has in the game, the level of play pretty much stays the same.

It doesn't bother me as much, I don't think they have many weapons left to come off of the bench with Reggie Jackson (I call him Mr. October after his baseball player namesake) starting now.

Pablonovi

We've got 3 speed teams left in the Play Offs.
Speed, spacing, drives & 3s; plus tight D = the recipe for success in today's NBA.

This is why they won't win the chip and will flop against Miami. If it's not the hammy, it's the ankle or something. Just too old.

Has nothing to do with age. Has more to do with the amount of ball this team has played the last 3 years, especially when you factor in his play with the French team.

And, if this were the finals, he'd be out there. Pop feels confident enough this game is winnable without TP, just like they won against Portland

Couple things about Joseph, he is a scrappy defender, and more fresh now. He got past WB with relative ease there. They will dare him to do something, I think he's confident enough to do a few good things.

I'm certainly not sure; but OKC giving up 37 is just another indication for me that they're gassed. Just not deep enough for SA. (Probably won't be/ wouldn't be deep enough for Miami either.)

Those last few minutes of the quarter were huge with some great plays (Ginobli pass, team passes for diaw 3, danny green 4 point play). I am excited to see what type of fight OKC (specifically Westy and Durant) put up in the 4th. I kind of want SA since I think they are the best match up against the Heat, but would love to see a close ending here.
