View Full Version : How does Embiid's back look?

05-24-2014, 05:39 PM

Ive read from many sources that teams are just posturing about his back to try to get him to fall.

I've heard he's checked out fine

people will always be scared of bigs with back or leg injuries though. I still think he should go #1, but I understand not wanting to take the risk.

Embiids potential is sky high if his back checks out take him 1st overall. Big with post moves ,a 15 foot jumper and is a hell of a defensive player sign me up.

He's so fluid with his moves. Rare combination of coordination, athleticism and touch for a guy his size.

It's between Wiggins and Embiid for #1 IMO.

I honestly think Embiid has the most upside out of anyone.

I think he's considered the consensus #1 considering his medicals have checked out over the past few weeks. Teams slotted 2-5 are trying to drop his value.

Embiid is pretty clearly the #1 overall pick at this point.

he's a 7 foot tall ibaka (with much greater potential)

#1 in the hood G...

He looks pretty good to me,this injury shouldn't be serious for him. I'm a big fan of him, just hope he'll be back 100% next season. This dude could be a top 5 center in the Nba just in his first year, his potential and current skills are amazing. I want to see him play, always excited for skilled big men.

Im just so weary of bigs with ankle and back problems. Where does he want to fall to? I think #1 with Kyrie and the Cavs is his best case scenario. Unless he's trying to drop to #6, #7 to the Celts or Lakers.

I think either way you cant go wrong, but Im picking Wiggins or Parker first.

Speaking selfishly as a Sixers fan, I agree he should go number 1...that means we get Wiggins or Parker

He said he's 100% healthy.

His back's always gonna scare me but if he stays healthy he'll be a superstar. Still a tough call between him and Wiggins because I think both of them have top 5 potential.

Gotta take him

Not sure how to post tweets but here's Woj on Embiid following this workout

"Watching Joel Embiid in workout for league executives in Santa Monica. Impossible to imagine passing on him at No. 1."

This is Embiid's 4th year of basketball and he already looks THAT polished.

Imagine what a couple years of NBA coaching with all of the facilities and attention will do for him?

He's a beast. Tough choice at #1.

It's crazy how amazing his footwork is. I really hope he's the next great big man. It'd really disappoint me if he was somehow a bust

If healthy, the Cavs would be dumb to pass on him.

05-25-2014, 08:13 PM
According to Chad Ford. Case for Embiid gets better.

"Joel Embiid's measurements at the workout on Fri: 7' 1" in shoes, 7' 5.75" wingspan, 9' 5.5" standing reach."

A lock at #1 as long as he is able to walk across the stage at the draft.

05-25-2014, 10:00 PM
He's #1 pick fine to me

05-25-2014, 10:29 PM
What most of you forget is that back problems aren't just a one shot injury like an ACL tear or broken bone. Back problems can linger an entire career thus u must think further than the present. He is by NO MEANS a lock for #1.

05-25-2014, 10:35 PM
i hope he is not another greg oden, but you never know with guys who are a foot taller than natural humans, that alot of strain to put on a body, with his size though and athletism, and skill, he could easily be a beast center, that said, i said the same thing about Oden.

05-26-2014, 12:10 AM
if i'm the cavs with the #1 spot I'm taking Wiggins despite thinking Embiid is the better player. I think the world of Embiid and if he can stay healthy he can be a future MVP and the best C in the league, he has that high of a ceiling, I don't know the last time a guy like this game into the league (Alonzo Mourning?) but I still will not take him over Wiggins because of recent NBA history. The fact is that C's almost all deal with injuries in their careers, from Ewing, to Robinson to Bogut to Oden guys get hurt. Joakim Noah, Marc Gasol, Tyson Chandler, Andrew Bogut, Andrew Bynum, Greg Oden, the list of super talented C's in the NBA who missed significant time this year is astounding and you can't help but look at a guy who is coming into the league with back problems and think that there is a high risk.

Now look at Lebron and Durant this year, they played 2000 more minutes than the next guy this season and Wiggins has that athletic stamina potential. he is a guy who, once he gets stronger (only 20 pounds or so necessary, nothing crazy), he will be able to do that. He can guard the teams best player 1-4, he can be a top scoring option and he can simply do intangible things that most players cannot.

i'm not saying wiggins is or neccesarily will be a better player than Embiid, I'm saying the risk out Embiid getting injured is far greater than the difference in talent between Embiid and Wiggins. You get a stud player regardless, both fill an immediate need so play it safe. Cleveland cannot afford another lottery bust, Embiid's back going out early in his career would ruin the cavs.

i do salvate over wiggins and giannis on the same team though.

Anyone glossing over the back injury based on some workouts after 10 weeks off from contact is naive...

Just wait till he has 260 pound plus 7 footers leaning on him for 80 games...

Dude is an unbelievable talent but it is a lock if Cleveland takes him that he will be constantly injured (cursed franchises are always doomed).

he looks really polished in that second vid. I'm a big fan of his, and yeah, if he's healthy, I think he's #1

Cle. please take him. As a Bucks fan, we need Wiggins.

05-26-2014, 05:20 PM
His skillset is so rare. I mean those stepback jumpers at 7 feet. MY GOD.

However, I do not think CLE passes on Wiggins.
