View Full Version : Miami Heat vs. Indiana Pacers playoff thread

I'll start this one off with this unbelievable stupid statement Lance Stephenson made today. Not only did he just wake up the Flash within Wade, but also he has basiclly just admitted his team is inferior and needs some sort of injury to happen to our players in order to have a chance. WOW what a fcking idiot.

http://m.espn.go.com/nba/story?storyId=10947604

P.S - now is a good time to get us a nice sig.

He acts always like he looks, which is diseased. Maybe he has some plays but he is dumb. Just another role player. Lets go Heat!

SteBO
05-18-2014, 08:55 AM
He's a role player, so his words don't hold much weight. If Wade plays the way he's capable of playing, he'll outclass this guy no problem. So long he doesn't play lazy like he's shown on a few occasions this postseason already, there won't be a problem. I'm more concerned about David West than anyone else on that team.....

Slug3
05-18-2014, 03:22 PM
I get what Lance is saying, he wants to make Wade work a lot. But Wade had so much time off this year and it was suppose to be for this. Let's do it Wade.

No UD on Hibbert is going to be the biggest mistake of Spo's career.

Pacers hitting shots out their rear-end....it won't continue as long as we know an effort and focus defensively. West/Hibbert are catching the ball waaayyy too deep inside and we're practically allowing them to shoot layups. Meanwhile, we're missing open shots. We're only down 10, so you gotta like where we are considering the circumstances.

Spo should honestly start looking to limit Bosh's minutes this series. I don't agree you should do something like that with one of your main cores. But the proof is there, bosh struggles against Indy and has for years.

Honestly I don't know. But Bosh is just so crappy against Indy. And it doesn't help that he just hangs out at the 3 point line.

JC_
05-18-2014, 07:01 PM
IMO Spo overreacted to Indy's hot start. Indy was shooting lights out from 3 but Bosh was containing Hibbert and West wasn't doing a lot at that point in the game. Things started really falling apart defensively when Haslem came in with Bosh. Hibbert was 3-9 with Bosh guarding him, I'll take that any day. Once Spo went small again with Birdman the Heat were able to make some defensive stops but that line-up wasn't able to keep the energy up for the rest of the game. Bosh wasn't shooting well but honestly if Lebron had been aggressive going to the basket more, more guys would have been open besides Bosh.

As ****** as it might be, I think Battier + help defense is what needs to happen against West (like last year). Battier probably still has bruises from that series but Haslem + Bosh is not the answer. Even Birdman + Bosh would be better than Haslem + Bosh. Let Haslem guard Hibbert when Bosh is on the bench.

I'm usually a Spo supporter but this time... My godness what the **** was he thinking?

Indy played a great game and took advantage of getting to the line. I really think Spo blew it with some weird lineups or subs. Haslem did great against Hibbert the last regular season game. So not sure why he didn't start him and waited till the end of the second to play him also there were times when Cole was on Lance. Not sure why.

This... To me that's the reason we lost the game. Pacers played great but the coach made a lot of mistakes. First of all starting Battier when Haslem played great against Hibbert, ok, ok, but then he puts Battier on George and Lebron on West, when other times is Battier the one doing work against West. Then he puts a lineup of Cole, Jones, Allen, Lebron, Bosh, Cole defending Watson, Jones defending Butler, and Allen defending PG :speechless: that is BAD! The other one was when Indiana played with their BIG lineup, Lance who is big for a SG, PG who is big for a SF and Hibbert alongside West and Watson (or Hill I think) Spoelstra played with Chalmers, Cole on Lance, Wade on PG, Lebron on West and Bosh on Hibbert.

Result: welcome to the paint Indiana.

The problem with playing Battier is we are doubling when his guy he is guarding is in the post. This either puts Hill/Lance/PG open for 3 and they were making them or we were rushing back and they were blowing past out rush outs and getting in the paint. That resulted in a good look or us fouling them. Not sure why Spo always decides to experiment with his lineups. But if he doesn't start UD next game then he's a complete idiot.

Pacers shot like 80% from 3 in the first half, and the Heat were still close for most of it. That kind of shooting won't happen again even if the Heat play exactly the same defense. The Heat didn't start getting owned in the paint until the line-up changed, so if Spo decides to go with the same guys to start the next game, it's fine with me.

Offensively, 6-23 from 3 by the Heat is unacceptable, Lebron should just keep taking the ball into Hibbert like he did last game they faced in the regular season. They really didn't pressure Indy's defense very much this game.

I agree, but to be honest, we don't have another option lol... It's either starting Haslem or Battier, when Battier was defending PG we did the same thing helping and doubling PG (usually was Chalmers or LBJ) and this caused a lot of wide open 3's for Hill. So I prefer leaving LBJ defending PG 1vs1 and putting Battier on West (of course, that is if Spo wants to start Battier).

I'm not saying we are getting owned in the paint so we should start UD. It's so we can have Lebron on PG and we won't have to double anyone. Doubling and leaving their shooters open is what got them going last game.

Agree with most of this, but Miami is good at making adjustments game to game. LeBron will surely be more aggressive at getting to the line as well the rest of the team. I don't expect Chalmers and Bosh to continue shooting so poorly.

I would like to see Haslem start and more minute for Jones in place of Battier if Shane is going to play like he's afraid to shoot. If you have no confidence in your own shot to take the open 3 while we are playing small, you have no business being in the game. The whole point of a small lineup is to spread the floor and make them pay for going under on the pick and roll.

We really miss Miller this series with his size to rebound and "let it fly" shooting confidence.

He's pretty much guaranteed to fail when he's guarding West. West is one of the most physical guys in the league and there aren't many guys who can take a beating from him and then play well on offense. I'm starting to think Spo is starting Bosh on West to make Indy feel overconfident lol

This series is over when we win 4 games...but I can understand where you're coming from. Miami's taken them completely out of it on both ends, and after Lance Stephenson's ridiculous shanigans in the media, he could only manage his empty stats at the end of 4th quarter while LeBron lights him up for 32 points on 13-21 shooting from the floor...screw a Game 6 at home, I want this series over on Wednesday night, real talk.

I lost a lot of respect for George after he said at his press conference that there was some home cooking going on with the refs. It's funny that he didn't think the ref were being unfair when they were 29-37 from the ft line and the Heat were only 10-15 from the line. But instead of lebron and them complaining about it they said that they have to play Defense without fouling. That's the difference between being a champ and being a want a be contender.

Its amazing…it really is….all season long we’ve been justified in criticizing Lewis because the tape doesn’t lie…for long periods of the season he played poorly on offense and defense….but his defense so far this series has been enormous…hes able to stretch the floor even though he isn’t making shots…I’m just so surprised at how well hes played….but Spo has been great so far…making the correct adjustments/lineup changes…hopefully these trends continue

But instead of lebron and them complaining about it they said that they have to play Defense without fouling. That's the difference between being a champ and being a want a be contender.

Couldn't have said it any better myself

Ray Allen could be out next game along with Andersen

MIAMI -- The Heat could be short-handed when they attempt to close out the Eastern Conference finals in Game 5 on Wednesday against the Indiana Pacers.

Top reserves Chris Andersen and Ray Allen have both received extensive treatment for hip and thigh injuries, and their status for Game 5 remained in question as the team prepared to fly to Indiana late Tuesday afternoon.

Andersen, who bruised his thigh in a collision with teammate Dwyane Wade in the Heat's Game 3 win Saturday, sat out Monday's 102-90 victory as Miami took a 3-1 series lead over the Pacers. Allen bruised his hip and thigh as he attempted to run through a screen in the second half of Monday's win.

Both Andersen and Allen finished the games despite their injuries.

Andersen will travel to Indiana with the team and coach Erik Spoelstra indicated that Allen would travel and be evaluated before Wednesday night's game at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

The fact that they're both at least traveling is good news, if they were for sure out for Game 5 they wouldn't have bothered to travel with the team. All this does is put more of an importance of this game. We're one win away from being in rare company as it is, so that should be motivation enough but by closing it out tomorrow night we could get ourselves needed rest. It'll be tough as hell though....

Tie game right now despite now the refs' mission to limit LeBrons minutes as much as possible? I'll take it....just keep doing what you're doing right now aside from that David West open jumper.

I knew the refs would pull this ****.....LeBron with his 3rd foul now.

Very close to shutting the game off. Manufactured games like this one are the reason why people say the NBA is a joke.

Proud of my team for sticking it out with a chance to win it at the end....despite the officiating being blatantly **** against LeBron, and Paul George just having a fantastic second half. We'll just eliminate his *** on Friday night....simple. Nothing to see here as far as I can see.

Okay, can you guys finally STFU about Beasley playing over Lewis? Thank you.

He's decidedly better defensively, and knows his role on offense. The ball doesn't stick in his hands.

Was I the only one think LeBron simply wanted to win in Miami? Like if the Heat win this series, it will be their 4th straight NBA finals which is extremely tough to accomplish. What better way to celebrate front of the fans? And it's always that thing, will the Heat have too much rest going into the finals? I personally wanted them to win tonight, and get some rest.

With that being said, LeBron is expecting the media to attack him, in return he will bounce back with yet another incredible performance.

bs rigged game. What I can't stand the most is how people can be so blind and ignorant and try to deny it or some how justify for it.

I'm happy because I get 1 more game of entertainment to see while at work but I would have liked for the Heat to rest a little longer

it was much better if we won the trophy of EC Champ in front of their fans. i am sort of angry about Lans's attitude from last night. what a clown.

Regarding clowning around, I miss our Video Bombs during interviews. Why don't Bosh do it anymore? Hehe

Game 5 left a really bitter taste in my mouth...but in the end, if we get to our game tonight we'll be just fine. Just think about what it took Indy to get a three-point win in their own building despite PG's hot shooting and the refs' blatant one-sided officiating.....

I'm expecting LeBron and Wade to both have superb games (though hopefully isn't too banged up, I saw him limping a little the other night)
