I don't know if there's a team out there that I hate playing more than Portland in terms of how well they play against us. They have played us so well the last few years. Then they add a Spur killer in Mo Williams to their 2nd unit. :sigh:

I guess we'll see what happens. Aldridge is going to be a handful

Really looking forward to this series, looking at their starting lineups the personnel matches really well. Always been a fan of LMA, hoping he can deliver this series again.

I still cringe when thinking my Raptors chose Bargnani over LMA draft day.

This is the one series where I really don't know who is going to win. I'll say Spurs just because they have home court advantage, but man these teams are evenly matched.

I think the Clips will beat OKC, Wiz will beat Indy (can't pick Indy anymore), and Miami will beat Brooklyn (even though they lost 4 games to them this year).

All 4 series are going to be good IMO, but this one for me at least... is the toughest to predict.

It's a given Lillard and Aldridge will get theirs, because they always seem to kill us. It will be important for the Spurs to keep guys like Matthews/Batum/Lopez from getting them bonus points. I think the games the Spurs won this year, they limited those guys quite a bit.

Belinelli has to play better this series, which I believe he will.

I agree. His #'s vs Portland were better than his against Dallas.

Mo Williams is another one they have to contain off the bench. That guy whatever team he is on, he always seems to play lights out.

Matthews should be guarding Parker with Batum on Leonard.

It's hard to say how much so far is the Spurs locked in and firing on all cylinders and how much is Portland's lack of playing defense but I don't want to take anything away from the Spurs, that was an impressive first quarter.

Portland is much better than this. I know that much. They can still get hot in a hurry, and LA won't struggle like this all game/series. I've seen him torch us too many times. Splitter/Baynes did a fine job and Splitter did a dam good job on Dirk in the first round. But great players eventually get going. Nevertheless, I'm happy with the effort and intensity thus far

It seemed like he was kind of Back-peddling just now claiming you didn't know Baynes would be such a factor etc but you have to factor things like that in when you realize it is Pop you are betting against. You have to know he will have all of his bases covered.

yea his logic sometimes makes no sense. yea maybe he didn't pencil in Baynes getting 8 points, but Manu had 0 points. So I'd consider that sort of a wash at best. Chuck is stubborn with his picks, and when he has no valid arguments, you see him say stuff like that

I think Portland was shellshocked by you guys last night.....I think they just had a rude awakening that the Spurs are not the Rockets(not even close) and they will make some adjustments....

I think the Blazers somehow find a way to win a close, tough game 2

I am shocked at how badly San Antonio dominated them. Gotta give them credit and its hard to pick the underdogs even though I really like Portland's team.

But San Antonio is taking this series if nothing else because they have home court advantage and are a veteran team that knows how to win close games.

valade16
05-07-2014, 03:12 PM
We got worked plain and simple. I think facing the Rockets was the worst thing that could have happened to a team facing the Spurs. We got used to iso defense and having all the Rockets players stand and watch Harden and Howard do their thing now we face a polar opposite strategy with players flying everywhere and we looked lost.

That is not to take away from the fact that the Spurs are the clearly superior team.
