We all know the Houston Rockets are a player for Carmelo Anthony especially if they can get rid of Asik and Lin. But since Lin and Asik expire in 2015, would it be better for the Rockets to wait to the 2015 offseason and try and sign Lemarcus Aldridge or perhaps Kevin Love.

To me, I would wait to sign Aldridge or Love. Power forward is a need for the Rockets and imagine the duo of Dwight Howard and Kevin Love with James Harden on the wings This year we also saw the problems with Melo. He is inefficient, stagnates the offense and plays terrible defense.

Additionally, for Houston to get Melo, they would have to mortgage a few picks to get rid of Lin and Asik. Is it really worth trading away a part of their future when they could sign a free agent outright?

Even Dwight Howard's defensive dominance can't make up for the pathetic defense from Harden AND Love.

LMA could be an interesting option though.

LOL Harden and love on one team would spell major problems for Houston. I'd sign Carmelo. You dont skip landing a huge FA just for the CHANCE at getting someone the year after. Kevin Love will go to Lakers and chances are "Lemarcus" Aldridge will stay in Portland now that they're rolling and are looking like contenders. If Houston doesnt sign Melo because they want to wait chances are they'll completely whiff on the 2015 FA class and pull a 'Dallas Mavericks'

As overrated as everyone thinks Melo is, he's still a superstar and would elevate Houston to perennial championship contenders.

PG Beverley
SG Harden
SF Parsons
PF Melo
C Dwight?

Terrence Jones could play big minutes off the bench or Parsons would come off the bench and have T Jones start at PF

I would go for Melo' .. but if he chooses another team, I'll just wait it out for next yr.. or trade Lin and Asik for a better bench with exp contracts.. so we could still be players come FA

Asik's better

The number one need for the rockets is perimeter defender. They should look at that first Rather than melo.

Asik is a tremendous defensive big man.

Whatever value Howard has, trade him to Memphis for Tony Allen and Z-Bo.

PG - Beverley
SG - Harden
SF - Parsons
PF - ZBO
C - Asik

2 main bench players: Lin and Tony Allen

OR

they can keep all their pieces and convince Luol Deng to sign there for cheaper than what he would make somewhere else.

You might have to mortgage the future if you sign Melo. Lin and Asik's contract are 15 million each. How many teams are going to be willing to take on those contracts for free?

I don't even think Melo would make much sense for Houston since him and Harden are both players who need the ball in their hands all the time to be effective.

And then there's gonna be Dwight who will need touches as well.

If the Rockets were smart, they would go after role player specialists. Like how Miami did in getting Miller, Birdman, Allen etc.

Get more 3 & D guys.

Until I see a team play Kevin love different from any other pf in the NBA, I don't get the feeling any of these coaches or teams see Kevin love as the "star" that psd does.

Melo makes the most sense for hou IMO.

Besides Dwight will demand a trade if he has to cover up for both love and harden.

I'd probably just wait a year.

Wolves fan here, and I live in Houston, and listen to sports talk radio all the time. For some reason, many here still think Love is a realistic option. How? The Rockets don't have the right trade assets, and not enough money to sign him anyways.

Melo is probably their best bet to chase via SnT.
