Good for him. Hopefully he can have a good 1-2 yr run there before he retires and mentor the guys on how to run the triangle.

If you had any questions about whether were going to run the triangle or not, here's your answer.

Artest went back home to NY and failed, LO will be the same unfortunately

Can't imagine its in any more of a player adviser roll with running the triangle. If he's brought into play heavy minutes, that's not looking good.

Ha, instantly becomes best PG on the roster.

That is a very lazy and uninformed response. MWP failed because Woodson refused to put him on the floor for any extended period of time. The same could be said for Udrih who at times looked like the best PG on the roster.

Why do you think us Knick fans have been so frustrated this year ? Because our coach leaves Hamburger Felton and JR Manslaughter out on the floor while more capable players rot on the bench.

Artest was done 2 yrs ago w/lakers.

Doubted it would change if given the minutes.

I wish him the best of luck. LO was my favorite laker during our championship run from 08-10'

Would love to see LO balling again.

A lot of ex lakers fans bashing , but Ron Ron wanted out because of Woodson but recently stated he wants to come back .

He is a versatile guy with great passing instincts in the post (I LOVED watching Gasol and Odom pass the ball between each other).

Maybe he can convince Gasol to come over to NY as well and he can swing a sign-and-trade for a SF or SG that can pass and defend using Melo as bait! ;-)

I figured you were indirectly referring to my post so I responded. But seriously do you really think everyone will think I'm cool now?

The way the deal is structured is perfect. He gets to practice with the team become a part of the roster and then we have the team option to keep him at the vet min next season if he gets his act together over the summer. If (when?) we bring in Steve Kerr or another triangle coach, then just having someone like Odom in practice will be a huge benefit. Like having an extra assistant coach who can play with the team (hey jason kidd).

Amazing what the hiring of Phil Jackson has done for the Knicks. A move like this 5 months ago and the entire NBA forum would be bashing everything Knicks. Credibility is nice.

Not anything special at all though. If the Knicks are trying to add veteran players to fill the roles which Kidd, Wallace, Thomas, and Camby left, they better think again. Smith will be graduating to chore boy copper scour pads and the crack rock in no time. :eyebrow:

Who knows, maybe it works out in the short term, and the short term is gonna be a bear. But if I were still a Knick fan I'd be very worried. To me, retreads show lack of imagination. You can't go home again. Talking Kerr, Odom, and perhaps even Metta is looking a bit absurd to me. Stop looking back, Phil, even if looking ahead is scary.

Phil probably just wants to have someone to teach triangle to the other players from the court.
Hed probably chase Fisher/Pau too.

On the other side, there is a lot of Phisical work and MENTAL work to be done with odom to get him back into basketball shape.

His short stint here in spain was awful.

Might be more trouble than he's worth at this point.
