there's no way we're going to win anything with scrubs like ryan anderson and herrera playing regularly.

I was literally showing all the different ways I could bend my previously dislocated finger 2 minutes before Napoli dislocated his. Easily my fault :hide:

I don't know if I agree with that. Ryan Anderson can really stretch the floor for us.

Bogaerts needs to make a better throw but that's a pretty damn easy scoop for Carp there.

It's pretty pathetic when the Chicago Cubs 5-9 hitters are more imposing than ours.

I was optimistic at first, but we're headed for a 4th or last place finish regardless of how great our pitching is, not to mention the injuries are steadily creeping in and Ortiz has fell off the earth.

This is what everyone expected from this team last year, it just came a year late.

We're in for a mediocre year it seems.

Victorino- 5.8 WAR
Ellsbury- 5.7 WAR
Drew- 3.1 WAR
Salty- 2.9 WAR

3 of those have left and 1 on the dl. Those 4 finished 2nd, 3rd, 6th, ad 7th in WAR as far as positional players go. Pedroia has also been limited and Ortiz is a year older.

This smelled a bit like a "transition" season before it began.

Hope so.

But this team has shown be so very little to be able to do that. And in a 10 game stretch, that means 2 starts each by Clay and Doubront. They suck.

I severely doubt it with Pedroia, Victorino, Middlebrooks and now Napoli all out with injuries.

There is a greater chance we lose 8 of the next 10 with Roberts, Herrera, Nava and now Carp all relied on as everyday regulars.

Ortiz is cold, Pedroia is ice cold, Nava is ice cold, Carp is a horror show in every facet of the game, we're getting horrible production from 3b. I was surprised when Xander started off hot because he always has started off slow, hes been very cold since then. The offense that we have gotten has been constantly stranded on the bases. We've lost a bunch of very close games that could have easily gone the other way. I feel sorry for the teams we face when most of that normalizes.

x2

I'm not worried at all. Having two rookie starters that have to adjust is a big deal, especially when virtually every veteran outside of Sizemore is struggling. It's only getting better.

The only thing that worries me long term is Pedroia. His offensive decline looks fairly real to me and we could get to the point where someone like Mookie is a far better player but takes a backseat to the captain who will be a defense first second baseman.

The offense is in a major slump. We won because White Sox pitching walked 15 batters. Also, another couple of errors...

Where's Tom Emanski and his instructional videos when you need them?

I'm ready for people to start coming back from injuries - Victorino's rehab stint starts tomorrow.

It just seems like a majority of the positions are platoons.

Maybe it's a little early, but I haven't been impressed by Ryan Roberts at all. Then again no one has really been on a tear. Wouldn't mind taking a look at Brock Holt. He's had a decent start down at Pawtucket.

In Roberts' 19 AB's he's struck out 7 times and managed 2 hits. Blah.

Also Daniel Nava (or Nav-er as Remy likes to say) needs to start doing something, he's been pretty awful so far this year. Alas, the season is still young.
