So Corey Brewer dropped 51 on my Rockets tonight in one of the more random 50 point games ever. What are some other ones you can think of where a role player or guy not very known for getting buckets droppes 50?

Didn't Terrence Ross do this vs the Clippers earlier this year?

That's just sad, Rockets.

Especially considering he only had 2 threes in the whole game. Wow.

What I'm wondering is when Harden is going to go off for 50-60 points. He came out hard as a MFer last year.

Lol I was watching that and I didn't notice the points. I was busy marveling at how he got 29 rebounds.

I think Willie Burton dropped 53 one game.

Edit: didn't see the link posted.

lucky *** shot? The guy just dribbled into the paint, posted up and released a jump hook without much resistance. Hardly lucky imo.

DreamShaker

Charles Smith dropped 50? I remember Dana Barros and Vernon Maxwell, but Smith threw me off. I also remember when Jamison dropped 50 twice, within the span of a few days.

Ronnie Brewer is a scrub. Corey is a nice role player, but he is not really a scorer.

Brewer was on fire. He leaked out for like 18 of his points

goku
04-12-2014, 01:21 AM
looking at the highlights most of his points were in transition im kinda baffled why the Rockets didn't make him shoot jumpers the in half court game but whatever its proven that last years Rockets team "basically the same starting line up without Bev and Howard" would be no where near the playoffs the Defense is to atrocious without them Rockets ranked 9th going into that 76ers game ..im not sure I want to see what they rank without them ...

but yea that's bad letting Brewer score 51 pts I don't care who starting

Never forget that game.

I used to play a fantasy game on ESPN called VGMs. By sheer chance, I had Tony Delk in my lineup that night. He was a cheap play and I was hoping for a like 10 points, a few assists, etc.

The dude went off. It was ****ing awesome.

mightybosstone
04-12-2014, 09:20 AM
The dude just did everything well last night, but a lot of things had to fall into place for him to score 50. First off, the Rockets were insanely sloppy with the basketball last night, turning it over 20 times. Brewer has 6 steals, and I wouldn't be surprised if every one of those led to a Brewer layup or dunk on the other end, as the Rockets were horrible in transition defense last night. Plus, the pace of the game was just ridiculous. The Wolves ended up with 94 attempts overall, with Brewer taking 30 of them. Also, there was just a **** ton of fouls called in that game, which led to 76 free throws!!!! Brewer took 15 of them.

Combine all that with the fact that Minnesota is missing Martin and Love, so he could take as many shots as he wanted, and the fact that Houston's defense is hurting without Beverley and Dwight and it's easy to see how unusual these circumstances were. Brewer is a good player I've always respected, but he'll never repeat that, as it would be nearly impossible to recreate all the variables surrounding the performance.

While having Dwight + Beverley would have helped no doubt, I'm personally starting to think that part of the problem may be the departure of Kelvin Sampson. Kelvin was hired specifically to be the brains behind the defense. Prior to his departure the Rockets were still playing okay defense.

As of late, it's looked like a complete mess.

I think Sampson going to UH may have more far reaching consequences than many of us anticipated...

It's too early to tell at this point. It's also worth noting that a lot of these starters have played a ton of minutes this season. Also, Houston will play their 8th game tonight in 12 games, which included 3 back-to-backs and 5 road appearances from all over the country. They just look tired right now. If Beverley and Dwight come back and they continue to play atrocious defense in the playoffs, when they'll get plenty of rest, THEN I'll start to wonder if Sampson is the reason.

exactly right. Steals need to be put into context. Someone like Brewer, for every steal he gets, he also totally screws your team defense 3 times.

Giving up 50 to the Corey Brewers of the world should be grounds for immediate dropping from the team....

4 of his steals led directly to him scoring on the other end, and yep, agree with all of this.

To add to that, if you told me Brewer was going to shoot 30 times in a game, even after last night, I would probably punch you in the face.

I think Jennings sucks, but he hit for 30+ multiple times this season and has done it in every season he's been around. I don't think it's completely out of the realm of possibility.

I think it was less about the rules and more about truly pathetic defense. He literally had a layup drill the whole game. I' felt like I was watching a Laker game...
