This is tiring, our pitchers need to throw a no-no and it might not be enough.

Win this series.

4/7 vs. TEX: Nava LF, Pedroia 2B, Ortiz DH, Napoli 1B, Sizemore CF, Bogaerts SS, Pierzynski C, Herrera 3B, Bradley Jr. RF, Lackey RHP.

No Roberts tonight. Not sure why Nava is leadoff

Geez... my sim would be looking good. Sign Drew and deal for Stanton using in part MWB and Nava - hello 1st place.

Lackey is our ace.

Is it too soon to extend him?

I think we sweep this series, would be a good confidence boost going into the Yankees series and beating a top tier team like Texas.

Grady :pity:

Rough inning for Felix. Looked strong the first 2 innings...just can't keep the ball down. Some rough breaks though for sure. Ugly in a hurry.

The only pitcher that hasn't su*ked is John Lackey. Time to DL someone and add someone. DL Clay and bring in Workman or Chris Capuano. JL is the only ace on the team and thats sad.

0-2 record he had 1 good night. Whats odd is the fielding shows up when John Lackey pitches. When other pitches show they fall apart.

Lester has pitched an inning and a 1/3 more than Lackey already and got screw by bad D in one game and offensive support in both games.

BTW, most deep fans now understand that "wins" is a team stat much more than a pitchers stat.

Why am I not surprised?

It Bradley keeps hitting like this it's going to be interesting what they do when victorino gets back.

SV may only play 70 or 100 games this year - so we need both JBJ and GS on board to play CF and RF. Probably Carp ends up being the odd man out (unless someone else goes DL before SV is back). Unless Nava keeps sucking, he'll play most of the games in LF and Gomes isn't going to be happy with that.

The real disaster comes if GS goes down hard, and SV is in and out, and Carp was shipped off. That leaves an OF of Nava/Gomes/JBJ/injury ridled SV - yuck - but that might be Brentz's big chance, and I'm not expecting that much.

We need to find another starter if Buchholz and Doubront are like this.

Bradley in center, Grady in left Victorino in right. If he continues to do well while victorinos out

7 runs usually wins you a ball game, but Doubront was clearly off tonight.

Win tomorrow, win a series.

I'm not worried about Doubront, his velocity is almost a carbon copy of last year on all of his pitches. He just needs to hit his spots.

Buchholz I worry about on a number of levels. His cadaver like build. His sensitivity to injury, and more. As far as I can see he was rushed back last year for the playoffs, and he made little or no progress from then until now. It's really a tragic situation. This guy has when he is 100% top 10 ML SP stuff, but, he's not going to take advantage of that in any consistent way. I do not see him getting much in trade (even if he rips of 20 high quality starts in a row), and I don't see the Sox extending him either. Another Roger Moret or Tony Horton...

The only thing that is starting to irritate me is when these guys choose not to take the ******* bat off of there shoulder to protect on strike 3 and get caught standing there looking like an idiot.

Nava, Gomes and Carp all guilty as charged... daily.

He clearly wasn't ready to pitch when he came back if you use his April/May pitching as a guide. He wasn't ready for the playoffs either but gutted out a few (surprisingly) appearances.

In Clay's first start he was pitching at around 88-89 mph. That's about 3-5 mph slower than when he is "on."

There is definite reason for concern when you see something like that.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see a report in the next few weeks that he needs shoulder surgery and will miss the season.

He could use a heart transplant and a diet high in fats and protein also...

Nice to see JBJ take a walk. Ill take all the BABIP luck i can get with him to boost his confidence, he just needs to start driving the ball more as he gains comfort.

Wasn't it pretty chilly on that start? High 30's? If that's the case, you could attribute at least some of the velocity dip to that.

So far in 2014:

JLester: IP: 29 ERA: 2.17 ERA+: 193 WAR 0.7

Lackey: IP 24 ERA: 5.25 ERA+: 080 WAR -0.1

Cream rises, and **** sinks.... I have Lester, good luck with Lackey.
