Having this argument right now, a friend claims him to be a top 30 player and miles better than Dwyane Wade? IMO he is one of the most overrated players of all time. Insanely inefficient, a chucker, no defense, and playing prime in an incredibly weak era. I personally think it's just a byproduct of his popularity, there's no doubt that he was highly influential player and a fierce competitor. I just think this gets in the way of his actual skill and accomplishments

So where would you place AI all time?

GTFOH. He's top 40. In the 30-40 range.

Jordan, Russell, Wilt, Oscar, West, Baylor, Dr. J, Kareem, Moses, Hakeem, Shaq, Duncan, Garnett, Dirk, Wade, LeBron, Kobe, Magic, Bird, Malone, Barkley, Admiral, Ewing, Isiah, Dantley, Durant, Stockton, Nash, Kidd, Gervin, Payton, Pippen, Barry, Drexler, Walton, Reed.

are better that's 37 in a second off the top of my head.

McGrady, Reggie, Allen, Pierce, King, McHale, Zo, Kemp, Webber, Gasol, Kevin Johnson, Nique, Hill, Parrish, Carter, Worthy, Rodman, Lanier, DJ, Dumars, Penny, English, T.Parker, Petit, Cousy, Frazier, Yao, CP3, Havlicek, Cowens, Moncreif, Pistol, Mikan, McAdoo

That's 34 more debatable candidates I believe most you could make a strong case for. I'm definitely missing people. So Being in the 40-60 range is a pretty fair assessment, possibly generous.

Iverson had "swagger" and invigorated the basketball culture otherwise he'd be way lower for most people.

Taking a players entire package into consideration? 120

For instance, if building a team that had to play together for 12 years and all of them were 22 when I started, I'd take Mo Cheeks over AI every time every day for the rest of eternity. Does AI have more talent? Sure. Who played for their team (D, passing), and who wasn't a toolbag douche? Right.

I think he's become under rated. People have knocked him so much about being over rated that he's now become severely under rated. The guy was an explosive all world talent. It was ridiculously hard to guard him. He would have been better off playing for a guy like Poppovich or Phil Jackson early on. And as much flack as he gets for that "practice" comment, I've never seen him not go all out on the court.

Loved Allen Iverson growing up.

But not a chance Id put him on my top 50 when you consider the entire package. He was a scoring machine but offered little to team basketball.

I would put him in that 51-70 range most likely. And that isn't a bad thing. There are plenty of guys who scored around that 20 ppg range but also were amazing on defense and at passing the ball. I would take that over Iverson every day.

But Iverson was very flashy and that is what bumps him up on some peoples lists.

Good thing it's not YOUR top 50 and people that know the game of basketball have already decided that he is.
