King James is rested, pissed off 2 losses, this might be a Miami route today. Plus I just don't think the Bulls are stretching that floor today on the Heat D.

you have LeBron wide open for 3, hands out, this jigga shouldn't need to be telling you to give him the ball.

Wade and Cole are the only ones that look interested in playing.

I'm surprised the heat look this lethargic. This game is on ABC, is against the bulls, and the heat are coming off 2 straight losses where they never lead. Expected more from them. Still tho, the 2nd quarter just started, but so far they sluggish.

Chalmers has had some bad games lately, but I can't agree with that.

Neither are anything special unless they're hitting threes, but I don't see a single thing Cole does better than Rio. Not a single thing.

Dude's a sub-10 PER player: trash.

I think instead of being a top 25 player he would've been a top 15 player, maybe even top 10, on par with kobe.

Would have been interesting. The question to me becomes how would his body have held up? They have the luxury of resting him this year, but the last two seasons he didn't play full seasons and still was a bit fragile and not quite himself in the playoffs (or straight up average last year). As a #1 option with a huge burden to carry that could be hugely problematic.

I think winning rings, even as a #2 option, could do more for his legacy than not winning as a #1 option when we become years removed from the present when all is said and done

Agree 100%. That's why in my post above I said I don't think he could've ever put up the overall legacy that Kobe did... He just didn't/doesn't have the health to pull that off.

He's a damn good player though, I take it for granted sometimes.

Yea, peak wise I do believe wade was a better player, but that was only about 2 years. Kobe's longevity is what makes him a top 10 player. I mean, top 5 player in the NBA for 12+ years is pretty damn hard to do.

Cole's improved every year since he's entered the league. The kid works hard and has a great winning attitude. I consider myself a stats guy as well, but you have to use context when judging a player like him.

He has quick feet and always stays infront of his man. Really is one of the best perimeter defenders at his position.

Oh and I'm sure most still believe Hinrich still has value due to his defense, yet he has a PER of 10 too.

Well you basically just proved my point...

Lebron needed to dominate KD down the stretch to steal MVP from him, but they're basically on par as of recent. Then you factor in the fact that Lebron is trending downward currently, and you've got a virtual lock for MVP. We'd have to see one of the worst collapses of all time by KD or the absolute best stretch of basketball we've ever seen for Lebron to win MVP now.

Always thought Chalmers was overrated defensively. Really knows how to play the passing lanes but lacks the lateral quickness to keep his man infront of him. Never understood the praise he recieves from the national media. Most heat fans are constantly frustrated with him.

the numbers support the notion he's a pretty darn solid defender. solid on/off stats. a better d-rtg. had a very solid +2.12 defensive RAPM last season (to Cole's +0.37) and this year the gap has been about the same. synergy numbers suggest that individually they've been about the same the past few years.

he's a lovable scapegoat because of who he's playing with so often. he's a solid role player. in a bed stretch now, but so be it. they don't need really anything more than shooting and defense from the position, and more often than not he provides that.

i just really don't think Cole is any good. chalmers is a bottom tier PG too, but i still think he's clearly a better all around player. oh well. i digress.

Why?

Better record in a better conference.
More games without his sidekick.
Better season.
Better story line.
LeBron eventually will deal with voter fatigue.

The MVP might as well be in a box addressed to KD right now. Maybe LeBron finds a miracle and snatches it from the delivery boy last second, but it will take A LOT more than what he's been doing all year. Or, "god" forbid, an injury.

Rose do not fit with this bulls team

You have no idea what you're talking about. The notion that Rose (or even Melo) don't "fit" this team is absurd. I love my Bulls, but it's not difficult to see that this current team is in no shape or form, a contender. They'll probably get to the 2nd round and maybe even give Miami or Indiana a hard time, but that's it. It's called being realistic. The "hard-work bunch" are fun to root for, but their inefficient offense will never land them a title

You don't win championships with hard-working role players and one very good player.

The notion that a ball-dominant playmaker/supreme scorer doesn't fit the Bulls is laughable. It's as laughable as the people who thought that Lebron and Wade would be worse for Lebron than for him to play on a team with spacing given Wade's contrasting playing style. In the end of the day, unfortunately, you win with stars.

I don't think Rose will, but Melo certainly could.

I think the negativity Melo gets is very overblown. Especially with how well he has played the last two years.

Besides, Thibs has shown fully capable of taking chuckers and bringing the best out of them (see: Nate, JLIII). One reason great coaches are labeled as such is because of their capability in taking questionable players and making them fit their system.

Melo brings many characteristics this team is currently missing: a shot creator and a player capable of scoring in large numbers (in a relatively efficient manner) and spaces the floor. His weaknesses (selfishness at times and defense) both can be masked by a team that prides in such characteristics.

Defense is ALWAYS what has been most important to the recent Bulls teams. That's my only point. They needed his offense, for sure, but what got those teams going was their defense, coaching and depth...and in those MVP arguments those three things were consistently trashed in an effort to boost Rose's credentials. I'll even settle for bringing over Mirotic and getting the stretch 4 that Rose has always thrived around use our two draft picks and bring over another wing like a CJ Miles type shooter. Either way they have plenty of options when you have potentially 4 first rounders in 2 years and a 22 year old Euro MVP it's not a bad route to go.

That's fine. I was mainly addressing the idiotic point that Bulls somehow don't need Rose.

The conversation about Rose's MVP season really needs to end. It's literally beating a dead horse to a blood pulp. I think pretty much everyone agrees at this point that he wasn't the best player in the league. What he was, was a top 5 player, with a great story, on the best team (during the regular season, at least). Nothing more really needs to be said on the topic.

Bulls are essentially the NBA's version of the Seattle Seahawks or Carolina Panthers: a great defense with a player who often gets little too much credit due to being the main source of offense. That said, you need said player if you want to win a championship in this league.
