Took out Monroe for Stuckey halfway thru the 1st. Only had 2 of the Smoove/Drumond/Monroe trio on the court at one time the rest of the half. Same substitution pattern thus far. It's similar to how Cheeks was doing things recently, but it seems Loyer is going to break up the trio a little earlier in the 1st and 3rd quarter than Cheeks. That's a good thing.

Gonna be hard to really judge how much of an impact he's had. We just don't know enough about the intricacies of coaching from the outside looking in. But it is a good sign that his team has responded tonight. That's a good start.

No McGee, Robnison or Gallo for the season now. Lawson's banged up. Miller probably won't play for them again.

The Magic have the worst of the Nuggs/Knicks (WoNK) pick. For a few weeks now I've conceded that the Knicks are the team to worry about. Them making the playoffs and avoiding the lottery seems much more probable at this point. But, obviously, if they both miss the playoffs I want them both to have bad records. Thats a great predicament to have. I keep thinking that the Knicks will somehow make the playoffs, but then I realize that their record is only 2 games better than the Lakers.

What are your thoughts/hopes for ORL this season in regards to their own record? I would say before the two wins they had to just keep losing, but those wins are pretty big wins so maybe they will start playing better.

WHy are you two still arguing about this  Obviously neither of you are going to sway the other.

You're probably both at the extreme end of the argument. Harden does have happy feet and he does have a reputation for it. However, most stars with the balls in their hands as much as him...especially ones that attack with the frequency he does, have the same reputation too. If he does get away with more calls than most, it's probably by a tiny margin and isn't worth *****ing about. Because, yes, everyone gets away with it in the NBA.

There are two things that matter this season. First, the draft pick(s). Second, the young guys improving.

We're seeing the second happen lately so the first is going to suffer a little. It's a balance that kinda has to happen. Ideally Harris dunks that ball a second too late and ideally whoever took that last shot for Indy (George?) makes it and we lose two highly competitive games. But I'm not too mad because the big reason we won those games is because of the young guys we NEED to have progress: Vuc, Harris, Harkless, Dipo and O'Quinn. If we were winning games because Glen Davis was dropping 40 points, I'd be pissed. But I can live with this balance.

I don't think we're gonna start racking up the wins, but I've felt for a while now that when healthy we aren't one of the 3-4 worst teams. Maybe the 5th worst record? IDK. We'll see. I'd love to have a top-3 pick, but seeing Oladipo, Harkless, Vuc, etc. improve is quite important too. We'll see. If Vucevic goes down, for example, we'll drop back down to being one of the 3 worst teams in the league. A lot can happen...but I don't think we're gonna keep winning a ton of games.

Who's living in a fantasy world? The guy who claims Harden gets the same treatment as every other elite scorer or the conspiracy theorist claiming Harden somehow gets more of an edge than every other player in the entire NBA game? The guy who is going by the stats and the reality of the calls or the guy who is *****ing at the referees because of phantom calls he think should have been made?

Jesus.... Does anyone know what the record for point differential is for a losing team in back-to-back games, because the 76ers must be close to breaking it. They are beyond atrocious. On the upside (for the rest of us, certainly not Philly fans), at least this Philly team is finally starting to be the team we all thought they would be prior to the start of the season. The East is finally starting to make sense again (as long as you don't count the Knicks).

I'm not saying I thought they were anything remotely resembling contenders. But considering how bad the East is and as decent as they looked in the first few weeks of the season, a playoff spot wouldn't have been that ridiculous had they kept playing at that pace.

One team in history has lost consecutive games by 40 or more points... the Sixers. '93/'94 season.

True, but Brett knew what he was getting into this season.

We just traded our allstar PG for a future 1st and a C who most likely wouldn't play the entire year.

He was given the thinnest roster in the league and told to "wait it out a year".

Currently the Sixers sit as the 2nd worst team in the NBA.

They also hold the Pelican's pick who are currently the 10th worst (the pick is top #5 protected).

With potentially 2 top 10 picks in the 2014 draft, along with the clear-cut ROTY in MCW + Nerlens Noel (who was arguably the #1 pick until his injury), and the most capspace in the league by 2015, I really like where this franchise is headed, and that's what Brett signed on for.

They truly wiped the slate clean after SOOOOO many contractual miscues. The Kenny Thomas contract, then came the Webber trade, then came the Dalembert deal, then paying Iguodala like a #1 option when he clearly wasn't, then the misguided return of Allen Iverson (which I was admittedly for), and then finally there was the Andrew Bynum saga.

This team made MOVE after MOVE after MOVE of keeping us in mediocrity.

Finally this team has committed to SOMETHING.

Sure it's gonna take a year of getting buttraped, and who knows if the picks will turn out how we envisioned, but I'll take this over another disappointing 1st round exit and a panic signing.

edit: nice... PSD doesn't censor buttrape.... yet

It doesn't matter how much cap space you have, good-great players won't sign with the absolutely terrible teams. Look at the Bobcats...they have a developed a losing culture for a very long time and do you think if the Bobcats had the most cap space in the NBA, enough cap space to sign two max contracts and more, guys like Love and Westbrook (assume that they both become FAs) would sign there if they wanted to leave and play together elsewhere?

It's true, though in tonight's case in particular he had a couple shaky charge calls. The rest were him just messing around with left handed behind the backs like he's on the playground as usual. Still, makes him the most fun player to watch.

Correct, though to be fair he also leads the league in Assist per game (or 2nd to CP3 if we can count him) and puts up 25 a night. The 2.27 Assist:TO Ratio from a 25 PPG scorer is actually reasonable. 3:1 from a player scoring that much would be unbelievable.

That said, he plays around a bit too much and could/should easily cut that down to 3 a night.

MCW has really shocked me. I thought he was going to be something special after that amazing first 10 games for him but it seems I jumped the gun.

Even Kendal freaking Marshall is a better shooter than him, that's just sad.

sixer04fan
02-11-2014, 02:27 PM
MCW is a god awful shooter. One of the worst in the league. Josh Smith level. That's not a surprise given his production in college and anyone who follows him knows it.

As for not being sold on the future. There's nothing they're trying to sell right now, besides MCW. With the possible exception of Thad, who I believe will be traded by draft night in June anyways, not a single player besides Noel and MCW will be on the team after next season. Everyone else's contract expires after this season or next. Complete roster turnover with ample cap space, much like... the Lakers.

sixer04fan
02-11-2014, 02:51 PM
As for how "slow" MCW is... You might want to check this: http://stats.nba.com/playerTrackingSpeed.html?pageNo=1&rowsPerPage=25&sortField=AV_***&sortOrder=DES

You see MCW on that list? Highest average speed of any player in the league getting regular minutes. He moves faster and runs more than anyone getting 20+ minutes per game, unless you count Chris Smith. Is he the fastest player in the league? No, of course not. But what's the difference if he's outrunning everyone on the floor anyways? He's far from slow, as you say.

He's also 6th in the league in drives per game, so despite his "slow" speed (which I just proved is complete bull ****), he's getting to the hoop at will. So again, what's the problem? http://stats.nba.com/playerTrackingDrives.html?pageNo=1&rowsPerPage=25&sortField=DVS&sortOrder=DES

I love how everyone talks out of their *** about certain teams or players just by watching bits and pieces of one or two games. Most of you don't have a clue about what you're talking about. It's sad and hilarious at the same time.

The Sixers got outscored by 98 points combined in their last two games... sorry not sold on them, or MCW for the future.

Nothing special about him. Turnover machine, very slow, crappy jump shot.

MCW has really shocked me. I thought he was going to be something special after that amazing first 10 games for him but it seems I jumped the gun.

Even Kendal freaking Marshall is a better shooter than him, that's just sad.

Don't tell to Sixers fans :p

Leads all rookies in points, assists, rebounds, and steals. Fastest player in the league getting regular minutes based on average speed while on the floor. Sixth in the league in drives per game.

But yeah, he sucks. Especially for a rookie. He's awful. And so slow.

Nothing? Come on. So many shots at the Sixers and their players lately with nothing to back it up haha.

Also - One of 4 players ever to average 17/5/6 in his rookie season. Joined only by Magic, Oscar, and Francis. Still not impressed? Not sold on his future at all?
