View Full Version : Build a team around LBJ/KD that wouldn't make the playoffs in the EAST

Catch: you can only use players who have started at least 25% of their team's games this season.

Is it even possible?

I'll try:

PG: Udrih
SG: McLemore
SF: Durant
PF: Pero Antic
C: Perkins

Could KD get this team to the playoffs in the East? Better than the current 22 and 28 Bobcats?

Lebron or KD could take a team full of 40 year old white guys to the playoffs in the east....

Easily

Ricky Rubio
Alexey Shved
LeBron James/Kevin Durant
Anthony Tolliver
Joel Anthony

A team of Smush Parkers' along side LBJ or Durant makes it in as no worse than a 6th seed.

Nah they'd make it. Prolly this

PG Felton
SG Rivers
SF Durant
PF R.Evans
C J Anthony

For LeBron it'd be

PG Delonte West
SG Rivers
SF R. Brewer
PF James
C J Anthony

Impossible. The east is so bad.

That might be a 3 seed.

change the question to the west and maybe we have a topic

02-05-2014, 02:34 PM
btw if you read the op you can only include guys that have started 25% of their teams games. aka joel anthony hasn't started 1 game.

John Lucas III
Ben Mclemore
Lebron/durant
Jeff Taylor
Udonis Haslem

that team still probably makes it, but just barely. there were a couple in there that might not have started 25% of the games, but all at least started some games.

PG: Jennings/Flynn (I know he's not in the league right now, but hey)
SG: Austin River/Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
SF: KD/Robbie Hummel
PF: LBJ/Glen Davis
C: Bargnani/Jason Collins

EDIT: Sorry... didn't read the full post about the starting 25% of the games. Have to re-evalute.

Easily

Ricky Rubio
Alexey Shved
LeBron James/Kevin Durant
Anthony Tolliver
Joel Anthony

You didn't read the rule. Have to have started 25%+ of their team's games. Joel, Tolliver and Shved haven't.

I sorted it out via this (http://stats.nba.com/leaguePlayerGeneral.html?MeasureType=Advanced&PerMode=PerGame&sortField=FG_PCT&sortOrder=ASC&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&pageNo=1&rowsPerPage=25&filters=GP*G*12&StarterBench=Starters).

I'd go

Hinrich
McLemore/KCP
LeBron
Udoh/Maxiell
Perkins

I still think they make the playoffs in the East. A hair less-likely with KD, but I still think so.

If they stay healthier than they are, they definitely do. I still maitain that Henson/Sanders is a nice young duo. With Bron or KD they'd be much better off. Ersan would have some pressure taken off of him, and he's shown he can be a really good player. You get rid of some of that garbage at the 3. Mayo/Knight/Ridnour/Giannis are no worse than what LeBron regularly was working with in Cleveland.

might be bending the rules a bit but this can work:
Durant
Perkins
Hibbert
Drummond
Deandre Jordan

or

I.Thomas
Lawson
Jameer Nelson
Jennings
Durant

you get the point

The funny thing is all of these guys are top ten picks.

I'll go with:

PG: Kirk Hinrich
SG: Tony Snell
SF: Kevin Durant/Lebron
PF: Jason Maxiell
C: Kendrick Perkins

Unless they've got an All Star or two on the bench, even in the East that squad isn't making the postseason.

That's actually a good line up. West and Jefferson on offense would be solid, though Rubio is the only good defender on the team.

I don't know about that. A front court of Larry Sanders, John Henson and Kevin Durant or LeBron James would be pretty good, if they're healthy. The Bucks are the best chance, though.

PG Westbrook

SF Durant
PF Lebron

Simply because 3 guys have major injuries.

Can't happen. Lebron took a bunch of bums to the finals and the East now is worse than the year he did that. Same would go for Durant.

PG- Rubio

PF- Marvin Williams

Zero defensive efficiency. Would be out rebounded by double digits every game. Would rely entirely on midrange game and some threes from their center. This would be comparable to the Smush Parker/Kwame Lakers that Kobe had or the Ricky Davis/Mark Blount Wolves that KG played with.
