Fun fact; On average Curry attempts more 3PT shots per game than he has any other season, he's also shooting below 40% from deep for the first time in his career.

COOLbeans
01-23-2014, 05:58 PM
I don't even thnk that's a coincidence. The Warriors need to improve their half court offense. Crawford, Thompson, Iggy and Barnes need to get better facilitating the offense and let Steph come off some of those picks. Baseline picks, horns, we need to see more of that.

Monta is beast
01-23-2014, 10:55 PM
The Warriors should have an elitte offense, I think they rank like 13th in overall offense. The offense is to simple. Theres curry and thompson comming off picks, lee posting up, speights pick and roll, barnes posting up, the lob to bogut, or a curry iso. They dont run a team offense in the half court. Barnes is under 40% on post ups and thats 75% of what he does. Iguodala and bogut need to be more involved in the offense, and try barnes at the four with bogut at the 5. Ezeli comming back will help the defense allot cause when boguts out are defense is all bad. I think were trading speights or oneal though

COOLbeans

Agreed.

And we need more athleticism on our front line. We need Ezeli as well

You do realize Jackson's offense is a "free range" offense...players can do what they want. Not really disciplined on the offensive side. But that's the beauty of it. Jackson understands that it is a players league. let the players play.

Even so. They need less 'free range' and they need better half court sets. The problem is Curry, dribble, dribble dribble, pass, pass, fake, 22 seconds left. Curry says, 'well let me just throw up a 3 then'.

How many interviews have you heard the player say "go out there and have fun" ?

Dont get me wrong, I believe in disciplined basketball..but there has to be a balance. Too much discipline and the players wont like playing for you. It may create a bad locker room vibe.

It's like punishing your kids. you don't wanna be too harsh, but you want to be stern...if that makes sense.

COOLbeans
01-24-2014, 05:50 PM
Mackshock, its not going to create a bad lockeroom by having a better half court offense. Look at the Blazers, Pacers and Rockets. All similar teams with better records than ours and one of the reasons is they have consistent half courts sets that end up in baskets. We need to run more of a motion offense, and have less isos.

Curry does not do that just for the sake of doing it nor even think like that. He's always looking to set up his teammates for high percentage plays even in a 'free range' offense. We as fans can see when he comes down the court, even on fast breaks, he's looking for his teammates unless he is in a position where taking the shot would be a better percentage play meaning he's feeling it and no one else is open that could improve the chance of scoring. Please don't confused him with Ellis way of thinking cause Steph is much smarter than you might think. I can't wait to see him setting all star players up instead of looking for his own shots during the ASG.

its starting to look like the warriors are trying to conserve the starters energy through out the game by putting zero effort out on the defensive side of the ball. Its no longer just a team getting hot against us- it appears as though this is the game plan going in.

we all know the warriors are capable of being an elite defensive team- but perhaps its just too much energy to waste through out every game of an 82 game season.

Other than the gross missed call, the game came down to coaching and Harrison Barnes shying away from attacking the basket Aggressively when he has the ball. The missed shot is minor in the big scheme of things though he should've knocked that down. Oh well.

Barnes was 1 for 6 the whole game not to mention that he is having a TERRIBLE season, yet he was on the floor during the final possession. SMH.

Ric Bucher talked about how the defensive identity of the Warriors that everyone was so proud of last season is lost. Which is ironic because they went out and got Iguadola who has been a ghost on the floor.

This team is playing like they are settling for the playoffs and not aiming to become an ELITE team that can actually contend for a title. Blame the bench all you want but the starters are so lackadaisical as well.

This game was all on the players poor defense followed by missing an open J. Weak.

I would rather see Curry lob a contested half court shot than watch Barnes try and hit an open jumper.

Can't ask for a better look. Barnes has had his struggles, but we all know he's more than capable of hitting that shot when we need it. It just didn't go down. If we could run that play again, and have someone shoot over someone vs barnes having a wide open look, I'd still go with barnes and the open look.

We are losing some very winnable games, its gonna bite us in the *** come playoff time. No reason we shouldn't have hca in the 1st round

That would be me Mack. Anyone with a wiiiiiide open midrange shot but hits the top of the rim would be viewed as way off to those in the know. If the shot had hit the inside of the rim and pop out, that would be consider close. Considering his shot was off all game, I would not even give the ball to him if I know he was going to try a jumper. Attack the rim and at least get foul but noooooooOoOOOOOOOooo he took a shot that he has no confidence in and was way off, game over. :(

First off, games like this happen. All Offense no Defense and it will happen again, nothing new, happens to the best teams out there.
Regarding the last shot, it seems like an easy excuse to make Barnes the goat, but far from it. To me Barnes had a chance to win the game for the W’s, but he didn't. I’m sure there’re several things contribute to the loss, but the couple of noticeable are: The starters riding the pine way too long and in a game with no Defense, the 7pts lead is nothing. Brain freeze here, not sure why they sat the starters, they hadn't play for 3 days. Then the last play, if Barnes was option “B” I’m curious to find what C & D were …. Another brain freeze - why not draw a play with Klay/Lee as the second option? So looking at the game objectively, this loss was mainly on the Coaching staff no matter how you colored it. #stopkickingBarnesfortheloss.

It makes sense to me. Klay is a streaky shooter so he's not going to be hot consistently for someone who will command close to the max on his next contract.

Scoots
02-04-2014, 12:27 PM
Klay and Harrison both can still get better, and almost certainly will. Consistency is often the last thing young players learn to manage.

COOLbeans
02-04-2014, 05:03 PM
Agreed. Though Thompson has improved a great deal on defense, his offense has regressed, and his ceiling appears low.

Barnes could be a great player in a couple of years, I'm not worried about him since he's got some great teachers on this coaching staff. Hopefully they're giving him personalized attention.

Scoots
02-04-2014, 05:47 PM
Thompson is still learning the flow of the game, when and how to be aggressive, and ball handling ... we all know this, the problem is that the one thing he had been very good at has been a problem this year and that is his shooting. Most good shooters have slumps, we have to assume that his outside shot will improve as he makes adjustments, and that as he gets better at the other parts of the game he will not rush up a shot, but use it as an opportunity to get by an opponent and make an easier shot, get fouled, or set up a teammate. As a shooter and as a defender Klay has shown considerably more than Barnes has ... it's on the driving to the hoop that Barnes is ahead of Klay ... and of Iguodala from what we've seen this year.

COOLbeans
02-04-2014, 06:00 PM
Klay is a year ahead of Barnes and has consistently been a starter for most of his career. He also came in a fanstatstic shooter
