If there was an expansion team created (Ex: Seattle) and your team has to give up one starter for the pool in the expansion draft, who would it be?

That's why this thread is fun, it's pretty much an amnesty of a big contract OR choose your least talented player OR choose a veteran that's old OR choose a player because he doesn't fit your system OR your least favorite player that starts for your team

I want to see what kind of roster a new team could get

Patrick Beverley. I think he's actually a better, arguably more important player than Terrence Jones right now, but Jones has a superior ceiling and the Rockets depth at PF is craptastic. Lin is the better player than Beverley anyway, and Houston still has Aaron Brooks to come off the bench, so losing Beverley wouldn't be that detrimental.

This isn't how expansion drafts work, fyi.

But I'd say David West. While he's playing the best ball of his career, he's also way on the wrong side of 30 and owed a lot of money in the next two years.

Maybe Lance Stephenson, since I'm not confident we're going to pay him, anyway.

As a Laker fan you can pretty much take anyone in our starting five.

Edit: Scratch that cant really say because our starting lineup will have changed 3 more times by the time I finish writing this post.

Anyone but Marshall. He is phenomenal. Look at his assists per game in the last 6 games, about 11,which is slightly behind than that of CP3.He outnumbered Kyrie Erving yesterday, who had scored the similar buckets but much less assists, probably half if I am not mistaken . We should re -sign him in a heartbeat

I would give up my entire bench before any of my starters. However if I absolutely had to choose. I think it would be Matthews. I am a huge fan of his and he just might be my favorite Blazer but as far as who is easiest to replace from on court production I gotta go Matthews.

How does it actually work in an expansion draft?

Some teams start guys that aren't even like the 7th best player on the team - I would imagine you could call some scrub a "Starter" and cheat the system if this was the actual way it worked with an expansion team.

He's also shooting well below 40 percent from the floor in his last 6 games, all Lakers losses. I can't say I've seen him play, but I would take those assist numbers with a grain of salt considering some of the other obvious deficiencies in his game. You're also talking about an extremely small sample size.

This. Not to mention he cant stay in front of anyone with any semblance of quickness on the defensive end. Yes he is a great passer but thats only one facet of the game.

I would have to say George Hill. David West is a close second because of his age, but his veteran presence has meant so much to this team. It's really hard to pick anyone from this group, though.

usually you can protect certain guys and the team/teams can choose from the players not chosen. usually over 5 players and most of the time something like 7

In an actual expansion draft it's not done by starters. You can protect a certain number of players, like 8 or 10 on your roster. Then everyone else is eligible to be drafted.

I thought it was only something like 3 players. If you could protect 8 or 10, than the expansion team would have nothing but end of the bench players.
