I feel that the HEAT role big tonight, for commercial & entertainment purposes of course (their nick names will be on the back of the jerseys... I think the leash comes of tonight).

Watched the Wiz/Pacers until it got out of hand. The only takeaway point for me is that the Paul George scoring regression is really hitting hard right now. He's been awful since the start of the new year offensively. Brutally bad tonight. Doesn't matter though...the Pacers are still way too good. Again, he's not the most important thing on that team, at all. It's their defense. And then after that, the pie can be sliced many, many ways.

Played two bigs for pretty much the whole game instead of all 3 and looked much better. All three got there minutes and they all got there double double and the win although it was against the Sixers.

Smith- 22pts, 13rebs, 7ast, 5blks, 4stls

Drummond- 11pts, 12rebs, 6blks

Monroe- 15pts, 10 rebs

Finally some common sense on how to utilize 3 bigs. Theres hope yet, you would think teams would look at the recent past for some insight (Lakers trio of Odom-Gasol-Bynum almost never played together) and Odom is a much better perimeter player than J-Smoove.

We are moving the ball very well.

I was telling everyone how much Brook slowed down our offense. When he played we just fed the post and stood around cuz he is slow and can't pass worth of ****. With him gone the ball ain't sticking

Paul George 2 for 14 and his team wins by 30... He's a good player, but he plays on probably the most stacked team in the league. Other superstars would not be able to get away with that.

He is 29. If you don't think he passes every single one of them (He is already above Kobe), outside MAYBE Kareem, you are in denial.

He is already a better player in his peak than anyone you listed. Now its just a matter of time before his longevity comes within a small enough minus window to pass them all.

Uh, they have awesome defenders at every position, 12/15 players on their active roster have a WS/48 rating well over .100, all 5 starters average double figures, with a veteran laced bench.

How are they not stacked? When your "star" can suck the floor up, and you win by 30, you don't have a lot of issues.

Peak wise + what he's done at 29 compared to what the others had done up until 29.

My only thing is I feel like Duncan was a defensive force with a polished offensive game from day 1. To me, Lebron didn't really become a defensive force until recent years. Obviously his stats are great and he's been a physical force from day 1 with great vision. I just think defensively, it took him much longer to get to an elite level.

That I can completely Agree with, but I just think overall, Lebron's impacts the game much more than any of those players ever did.

Not a knock on any of those players (even tho PG"Realist" believes it is). It's not like TD, or Kareem were expected to be playmakers being Centers and all.

Nothing wrong with having Lebron be better than you, don't see what people find so offensive about that at all. :shrug:

LeBron was a defensive force by 2008. But, I was speaking about this earlier. What has the NBA's youth movement, draft wise, done to the development the NCAA can offer us? Nearly every single collegiate, no matter their ranking, comes out with holes in their game, with the "potential" tag hanging on them. Remember when we had 3-4 years of top college players to really know we were getting a player? Sure the draft is a crap shoot, but the lower development of our players is shining through now. LeBron, after 3 years in school, would have entered the NBA as a 1-2nd all NBA player. Duncan went 4 years. Not 0.

Agreed, now every player is drafted on what they COULD turn out to be and not what they currently are. All players look to do now is go to college for 1 year and leaving asap. Not knowing that staying another year or 2 in college could benefit them tremendously.

They all want to be the Next KG, KB, or LBJ. Even when I look at college players profiles I see that they are all "not NBA ready" but instead they have a ton of "potential". Now you don't even know what you're going to draft, I expect to start seeing a lot more busts with the way these projections are going.

Pierce and Garnett are big reasons why the Nets are 4-0 in 2014 with wins in OKC and against the Warriors. Seems like they're about to win this game as well. I wouldn't say "mid season form"

Not 0.

Yea I agree, and the same for a guy like Dwight. But that's why I was saying Duncan was an established player from the moment he got in the league, cause he was extremely fundamentally sound on both ends whereas Lebron took some time to master the basics of the game. TD had 4 years in college (though he hadn't played a lot of ball prior) but it goes to show you a good program can really have great results. Lebron would've been an even bigger force had he went 3 years.

Some of these guys are in such great physical shape and great athletes, but lack the fundamentals and aren't developed enough. And it almost makes it when these high draft picks turn into projects and sometimes don't even pan out. (obviously not talking about Lebron/Dwight lol) Everyone has holes in their game regardless who you are, but when you're putting that potential tag on these high picks, it's basically putting the team and possibly the player in no mans land if the player doesn't have an immediate positive impact.

kdspurman
01-11-2014, 12:07 AM
That I can completely Agree with, but I just think overall, Lebron's impacts the game much more than any of those players ever did.

Not a knock on any of those players (even tho PG"Realist" believes it is). It's not like TD, or Kareem were expected to be playmakers being Centers and all.

Nothing wrong with having Lebron be better than you, don't see what people find so offensive about that at all. :shrug:

Yea I don't think it's offensive at all, and the fact that they play different positions makes it tough to even try to compare their respective impact on the game. But I think Duncan not truly having a crazy peak and just being consistently great is something people look at both negatively & positively. I mean, in the end it doesn't matter much, everyone has their own criteria and what not when it comes to rankings. And I am biased and not ready to let go (seeing as TD is almost done), so there's that too.... lol

Now you don't even know what you're going to draft, I expect to start seeing a lot more busts with the way these projections are going.

the competition is so pathetic compared to 20 years ago, we live off potential, not real production.

you can't jump on that bandwagon yet. Until you get pieces for Deron Williams you can't.

This kat is glass, and Livingston has the ear of the starters, he's an extension of the coach. The difference is Kidd had Deron, who isn't a leader, he dogs it at tough times, Livingston plays like it's his last game. He plays w/ heart. But he can't substain that for a long time. They need to move D-Will and bite the bullet on him.

You are a stigma to Laker fans. A poop stain that just won't come off. You don't deserve to represent the purple and gold you 2-faced politically correct wanna be moderator joker.

wanna be moderator? If I wanted to be a moderator I wouldn't respond to you.

You sure are on your rag today huh? Hahaha, hilarious watching you spew so much hate just because I praised lebron. I can't be a laker fan for praising the best player I've ever seen?

:laugh2:

I'm such a horrible human being.

Blake with 33/12/4 to go with 4 steals and 3 blocks in just 30 minutes. Outside of Lebron who else could currently do that? Been so God damn good lately!

Im happy with this game because as a Knicks fan I hate to see Mike Dantoni succeed anywhere, and hope this game gets him closer to getting fired. (Also dont like Mike Dantoni because he was a last second hire over phil Jackson, who now will probably never coach again)

KD, Cousins, AD, maybe Love. Not sure who else. That's a big time line.

Probably not in 40 point blowouts, but those are rare.

Ah can't forget Davis. Definitely him. Love/Cousins don't usually rack up steals or blocks do they? I'm not a fantasy guy so don't follow league wide stats much .

Yea, I'd be happy with Wiggins, Randle, Exum, Smart, Parkins, Lavine, Embiid, or Gordon.

Don't let others know we don't want lakers to win this year, or we'll be considered bad laker fans :rolleyes:

Haha true, but a lot of us in the Lakers Forum have committed to the tank.

If we get a top 5 pick this year, we'll be scary good in about 2-3 years.

I have Cousins on my fantasy squad. He's arguably my MVP.

He gets a ton of steals surprisingly

Rip good pick. Smith definitely can do it at his best. Maybe Al Horford too? Very few though. Difference is those guys are all labeled as versatile and fundamentally more sound. Blake just dunks, never forget that

Cap Space+Lottery pick, I'm lovin it. Just hope we don't get Melo, or pay someone just to say we signed someone, I'd rather wait for K Love!

Curry with a nice game winner tonight btw. I wasn't sure about that first game back after the road trip.

Now time for them to make a move for a bench piece. Not sustainable. Love ya Barnes, but I think you're the trade piece here.

Next 9 games for Lakers:

Cavs (Hope they can beat us, now it's possible with deng)
@Suns (no way we win)
@Celtics (please Out Tank them!)
@Raptors (we won't win)
@Bulls (we won't win)
@Heat (same as today's game)
@Magic (Tankathon!)
@Knicks (we won't win)
Pacers (no way we win)

I'd be surprised if we win more than 2!!!

Tre Barnes looked so damn good last year. What happened?

He peaked in those playoffs against the Nuggets in part because that was an ideal situation for him to run the floor and fill in for Lee as a stretch four. Probably no better team to showcase his abilities against. We just have his skillset covered on our squad and he's struggling to find a role right now.

He's a young dude with more growing to do, and isn't caught up with where this team is trying to be this/next year. If we didn't have the holes we do he'd be nice to keep, but I think he's the most realistic trade asset. Hopefully packing him with Speights for a better 2 piece fit.

Disgusting seeing fans rooting for losses. This is a real problem in the NBA and I'm not a fan of it. Even worse seeing teams follow suit in it. I think this is a low point in the NBA.

Shep thanks. Skillset wise not surprising because Cousins is the most versatile and all around skilled center in the game IMO. His issues are character related.

No prob. Yeah, Cousins has quick hands. I've seen him play a lot this year, and although he doesn't really block shots at all, he strips a lot of guys coming into the lane. Also takes charges. Not saying he's Dwight lol or even average on the defensive end, but he does get a lot of steals.

Just checked and he averages almost 2 steals per game! Lol. He's tied for 8th with Chalmers

Clippersfan86
01-11-2014, 03:49 AM
Lmao that's crazy. I knew he took charges but for a not particularly athletic or fast center to average 2 spg is nuts.

Clippersfan86

Superman his handles have been mostly the same since his rookie year. Thing is he only dribbles that much when CP3 is out and he's essentially playing point forward.

Since steals starting being recorded Blake . is the only play to put up this stat line in under 33 minutes (He did it in 29!). So yea, pretty dominant and special night for him.

Griffin will go missing in the playoffs like he usually does against the Spurs or who ever

its all well playing well against the horrible lakers, but the spurs, OKC, is another thing.

the competition is so pathetic compared to 20 years ago, we live off potential, not real production.

I remember somewhere in another Lakers forum that when a fan brought up a Gasol plus 2014 pick for Love, the majority were like "nah i know we get a proven star but I like the potential of the college guys like Parker and Exum better".

With my reaction being :facepalm: .

I like potential as much as the next guy but holy ****...

He'd probably pull LeBron's headband off and beat him to a pulp with it.

He didn't back down one bit. He knew he didn't foul him hard at all. He just looked at him like you're a ***** baby. Shut up.

Lmao.
I just find it amusing when people like you think lebron can't fight.

Hilarious man lol

I never said that I was more going off of what the guy said about being from Bosnia. And if you think LeBron was fouled hard on that play and didn't overreact, I'm surprised you stepped away from doing unspeakable acts to him long enough to post here.

When LeBron does something and someone tries to get in his face or shoves him (Nazr) LeBron acts like such a victim. It's just annoying.

Just saw the LeBron video tonight. That was hilarious!! Norris Cole is such a little ***** and LeBron completely overreacted. Since when is Beasley the level headed guy? The best part was Teletovic laughing right in LBJs face. Wasn't even that bad, I've seen LeBron foul harder and complain that he was called for the foul.

Such an "unbiased" view. :laugh:

I'm not a Nets fan. I could give a **** about this game at all. No bias here. In fact LeBron would be my favorite player between these two teams. Along with DWill.
