"I hear Shanghai has a spot," one rival GM said Wednesday when polled about potential takers for Smith.

Another executive, when asked about teams that might be interested, texted, "Erie?" (D League Erie Bayhawks)

I would not want this guy on my team. He's always been stupid, but now its coupled with being bad. I think he needs a year to get right from his injury so he can just be stupid again because the guy had game last year.

He was on top of the world last year, 6th man of year and a top 3 playoff seed

Man has everything fell apart

How do we know for sure a "Rival GM" said that? Its so easy to say a Rival GM, my source without putting a name out there. These writers will put anything on their sites to gain more hits. btw I'm not defending Jr either, I'm just making a point

If he could just keep his head on straight. Sadly, this appears to be who he is. Shame.

He is only making $6 million. We have seen way worse contracts moved.

Exactly. You're telling me someone wouldn't take him if the Knicks paid for some of that contract to move him? 3 years, 18 mil is not even that bad. He's still a very talented player who could do well in a new environment.

If Bargnani can get moved, than anybody.....

But it seems J.R. Smith needs a new environment every two years or less.

He had a huge chunk of his salary already paid. I think any team that took him on would be on the hook for about 3M for the next 2 seasons. Cap hit would still be 6M IIRC.

That probably is not the best comparable, though.

Bargnani was a former #1 pick, didn't cause trouble or get suspended for various antics. He just in general greatly underachieved in Toronto so a GM would reasonably think he could turn it around in a different environment.

JR has had a few "environments" already, is still causing headaches, not at all following up his 6 MOY, thought to still be nursing injured knee , etc etc.
