And then Knicks fans complain at the end of the season, "we didn't win because of chemistry issues".

not sure what that really means but wouldn't removing JR HELP chemistry? Even if the new guy takes a lil time to acclimate?

JR got paid and doesn't care anymore, he's literally the worst player in the NBA this year that plays more than 30mpg.

Shump & THJR might not have JR's physical tools, but knicks will be a lot better with those two sharing time instead

Clippers?

I'd like to see him on the Bulls even though I know it won't happen. Thibodeau might be able to slap some sense into him.

Knicks should trade him to Foot Locker

His antics are a perfect fit

Good luck with that. Dude is shooting slightly under 35% from the field, 62% from the line and his antics are ridiculous.

Not that his contract is horrible at all, but getting value back is tough

Running Vagina is shooting less than 35%. What team couldn't use that kind of marksmanship...?

This guy is hot garbage... who would want that contract and distraction?

ManRam

That's good to know.

Maybe Boston would give them Gerald Wallace's even worse contract? THat's about all I can think of.

knicks paid a bulk of his salary on the day of his signing. Hes owed 5.5 million this year and 6 mil next year. Essentially we paid 9 million up front, so he is technically owed 2.5 mil for the rest of this year and next year. The bad part is that he has a player option in 2015/2016 for about 6.5 mil. J.r smith on 2.5 mil for a year and a half is a bargain no matter what dumb **** he does during the free throw line

Charlotte might bite. They probably would move Ben Gordon for him, but salaries don't match. NYK may have to trade him for disgruntle guy that wants out of his salary or for a salary dump guy. I would trade JR for a guy who makes more, but contributes more.

You have a link to that? I don't think what you are saying is even legal under the CBA.

Besides, he has a 15% trade kicker raise.

Knicks trying to scare J.R. Smith straight with public, but empty trade talk. Of course, they understand there's no market for him.

How do you scare somebody on a guaranteed contract who stands to gain a 15% trade kicker even if you move him?

Sacramento could do a swap of Marcus Thornton for JR Smith. Picks and extra players will be included as well. JR Smith is having one of the worst shooting %s of all time this season, so idk why someone would want him?

Joel Anthony + Haslem + James Jones for JR Smith + 2nd.

Final offer. JR must agree to waive his trade kicker.

Seriously? Um, by threatening to trade him when he doesn't want to be traded. You really just see the dollar sign and think he'll be happy as long as the number is bigger?

Took him like 45 minutes to publicly apologize after the trade rumor came out, it sounds like it scared him plenty.

Well he certainly isn't playing like a guy motivated by basketball. Got the contract along with his brother a contract and his game has been ghost ever since.

About 2/3 of his full 3 yr salary has already been paid. We would get nothing but straight garbage for him, but I don't think its impossible.

JR didn't blink about losing 50K, so him blinking as a result of trade talks is probably real.

NBA is still a business and money talks.I am sure that there is an owner out there that wouldn't mind paying Smith 2million for a year and a half as opposed to player X 8+ million. 6 million does not grow on trees.

This is a desperate attempt to get JR to go back to the guy that won 6th man of the year.

Once he got some $ the real JR came back in no time. This kind of ish is killing the NBA, watching last night Knicks/pistons game was disgusting on both sides of the ball.

Bunch of overpaid athletes walking up and down the court doing whatever they wanted, you could tell none of them give a damn. Dude were playing straight AAU ball.

Who doesn't like chips though?

As long as they ain't those chips that the bodegas give with there sandwiches, you know them salty *** chips in the huge white bag, they put there whole damn hand in there and just throw a handful in a take home container for you.

Who the hell eats those chips? I'll keep JR over that all day..

Well he certainly isn't playing like a guy motivated by basketball. Got the contract along with his brother a contract and his game has been ghost ever since.

Again, there's more than just money and basketball. Everything we know about him (including the stuff with his brother that you mention) says he's a guy who cares about his family and friends and his life off the court - cares about his team-mates, cares about his home.
New York is where his family is, where his friends are, where is life is, the closest city to where he grew up, and where he turned down money in the past to stay.
You seriously think that all he cares about is money and basketball and that the threat of being traded wouldn't affect him? Even after he apologized like 45 minutes after the threat was made? Really?
