How long have you known him? Aside from the Brent Barry thing, what else makes you say that? & BTW, he released a statement on this already

He smashed a teammate's wife and hangs out with thug rappers. Stop being a homer. Now he's throwing up Nazi gestures. Parker knows the significance of Nazi gestures.

I don't have time to read more into the gesture and how it originated with that comic, but if his bit is clearly about antisemitism, than Parker is a moron. Don't do that. You're never going to get away with anything that even remotely scratches the surface of antisemitism.

Article doesn't go into details of how that became a Nazi salute outside of some comedian. I'm asking how is that a Nazi salute. Did some idiot just make some random gesture, name it and people started to buy into the concept or what?

What he did to his teammate is obviously wrong. No denying that... But you're saying he's always been a douche. And you say cause who he hangs out with? Sounds kind of ignorant to me. Especially when you consider he used to be a rapper (albeit not a great one) so he has some ties with that industry and surely makes sense if he associates himself with some of them.

I want to say I have NEVER seen that sign and have NO clue what's its cultural implications are. That said, here are my issues.

1: I see people pose like that all the time in light-hearted media shots, with no meaning tied in with the gesture. DJ's and rap artists who fold their arms or lean in to or away from the camera. I don't think it even means anything to them. It MAY mean something to Parker, but he MAY be as oblivious to whatever it might mean as I am.

2: It is described as a reverse Nazi symbol. If is is a "reverse", does that make it the opposite of? Meaning, that it stands in opposition to the original form.

3: How is that a reverse Nazi gesture? Which gesture are they referring to?

4: I'm sure Parker knows that Nazis hated Blacks as well as Jews. Even if Parker is anti-Semitic (and I'm not saying he is), it would make NO sense for him to join the KKK or go with Nazi signs just because they are also anti-Semitic groups. I mean, I don't see anti-Semitic Black dudes opening their own division of the KKK.

This story doesn't have enough details to be honest. I think we need more context.

I'm french, and I think you have no idea what you are talking about. I don't like Tony Parker for many reasons, but this is ridiculous.

This gesture is done by Dieudonne, who is a comedian who want to do a revolution. A revolution by the "quenelle", he wants that millions of people do this gesture to show their support. It's far from being antisemitism, it's more like "**** the system". A couple of weeks ago, a politician decided that this quenelle was antisemite and it was a reverse nazi ****. Since the beginning, it was definitely more like "my arm deeply in your ***" to show that the government is ****ing us.

At the time TP did this, many years ago, it just mean: "I like Dieudonne" who was a very good comedian, before he become some kind of revolutionary.

He hangs out with Chris Brown and his posse. He's a douche. There's no point arguing with a homer...no offense. He had sex with a teammate's wife, throws up Nazi gestures , and hangs with known douche rappers. It's very easy for someone to question Parker's character.

I feel like this is a ploy for the Jewish community to remain relevant. No one is racist against Jewish people anymore. I mean the worst insult I can think of that people use against them is they're rich and know how to retain their money.

Anyone who thinks Parker meant anything by this is ridiculous. He's a incredibly famous athlete and posed for a picture that he knew would be looked at by 1000's of people to insult an entire religion, really? Is that what people think?

FTR, I'm not arguing that he's not a douche, just that this is not one of those reasons why he is one.

Lol at French people trying to spin this. The idea that Dieudonne is anti-Zionist and not antisemitic is absurd. He's a blatant antisemitic Holocaust denier. And of course.... if the gesture is anti-establishment and anti-Zionist but not antisemitic... why are French people going around to synagogues.... Holocaust memorials and other things that have absolutely nothing to do with Israel/Zionism?

If you ever needed more proof about modern antisemites hiding behind anti-Zionism in public... this is it.

haha Chris Brown isn't a thug. He hit Rihanna? Rihanna got back with him so was it serious? Probably not. He is one of the few "rappers" (even though he isn't a rapper) that does a lot of charity events.

A French comedian popularized it. An awful joke and Parker shouldn't be doing that. He is really stupid for this in my opinion.

Sorry,I'm italian and obviously the sport press made a case with Anelka. Newspaper say that is a gesture invented by that comedian Dieudonnč(dunno him) And on his wiki italian page there's written that his political view is strange(he defines himself as anti-sionist,republican and anti Ue as I read)...Is this satire and newspaper are getting it wrong(like always)? Again, you calling him a douche cause of who he hangs out or rather has been associated with just seems ignorant man. No offense, but I just don't see how that has anything to do with someones character. I already said the teammate thing was obvious, and it's still up in the air about this gesture. Boris Diaw did it as well and many others from France. You calling it Nazi gestures cause that's what you know it as. Might be different for others.

The comedian is a known anti-Semite. He hates Israel and has made comments about it many times. No one can know for sure what the gesture means, but a soccer player was just fined for making the same gesture in a game. If the gesture offends large groups of people, how can it not be an offensive gesture?

The comedian in question is an anti-Zionist, not an antisemite. There's a HUGE difference between the two.

And the salutes similarity to the bellamy salute (not called the nazi salute) is a tongue in cheek **** you to the government.

Seems like a non-issue. Hurling accusations of bigotry and racism, in our current culture, is more effective than censure. It is our form of censure. I require more than a simple hand gesture in order to ascribe genocidal mania to a person.

I'm not French and not very familiar with the issue (and defer to those in this thread that seem to know more), but it seems to be simply a troll being a troll and then a ton of people getting trolled. Thank God this is news.

Well, I know nothing about this comic, but Wiki seems to confirm the guy is dbag...

"Dieudonné M'bala M'bala (born 11 February 1966), generally known by his stage name Dieudonné (French: [djř.dɔ.ne]), is a French comedian, actor and political activist. Initially an anti-racist activist, he later became close to the far-right Front National[1] and other fringe groups. Since 1997, Dieudonné has regularly stood in parliamentary and European Union elections as a candidate at the head of fringe or splinter parties, and has tried and failed to run in two French presidential elections (2002 and 2007). He openly supported Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's views on Israel and the Jewish people. He has made "heil" like signs on television as part of a sketch that made controversy, and has described Holocaust remembrance as "memorial pornography". He has been convicted in court seven times on antisemitism charges.[2]

In response to Dieudonne's numerous antisemitic statements, French Interior Minister Manuel Valls stated that Dieudonne was "no longer a comedian" but was rather an "anti-Semite and racist" and that he would seek to ban all Dieudonne's public gatherings as they amounted to a public safety risk.[2]"

i actually read the article, its a joke. The guy who invented it was an anti-racist activist (he later became close to the far-right Front National --- probably as a parody cuz hes a COMEDIAN). Its anti-semitic because the FRENCH GOVERNMENT claims it is. It has nothing to do with Nazis.
