Watching some games of him this season has really impressed me!

The guy looks fat and slow but it seems like he can find a way to score against anyone with sweet post moves and 3 point range.

He is currently averaging 14/7 shooting 47% from the floor.

What do you guys think his future looks like?

Probably an Injury.

He was a lock for a top 10 pick, possibly top 5, until a doctor red-flagged his back.

He was supposed to be #2 but decided to go back to school for some reason and it cost him.

Same with Smart and how he was probably #1 but went back (though he'll still be top 5-10 this year unless he gets injured).

17 and 9 in his prime (a range of a few years) if he stays healthy.

Best case: he drops 22 lbs of fat and gains 12 lbs of muscle - giving him another 1.5" of vertical, then he'll be an 18-10 guy, and fit into the back end of the top 1/4 of PF's in the NBA.

Most likely: drops 5 lbs of fat, doesn't add any vertical, has a 3-4 year prime of 16.5/9

worst case: he gets hurt (ACL/MCL) and loses most of his meager vertical, and is a 14/7 player getting a lot of shots blocked, and stationary on D - and his career would be over before he turns 30 (just look at 6' 10" guys that weigh in his range after a knee injury)

They are both big guys who are effective in the post, pretty good rebounders, can hit the 3 sometimes.

I'm not a fan of this Brad Stevens game plan pushing his bigs to the wings though. Olynyk and Sullinger aren't meant to take 2-3 3's a game.

Kurt Thomas is my first thought.

My next thought and this is best case scenerio, remember Brad Miller? That'd be a steal if he stay healthy.

They aren't? Are you sure you didn't mean the exact opposite, because that's precisely what you want those players doing.

BTW I'm a Jared Sullinger fan. I love everything about his game. I love his IQ in the post. I love his hustle. I love his shot selection for a young big, I love his athleticism for someone seemingly undersized at the PF position. He'd be the first name out of BOS I'd look to trade for. And it's b/c of this. You don't have many bigs in the NBA who can play make. You don't. Who shoot comparable to average to above league average in some floor spots. He's only going to get better. I remember seeing it w/ David Lee, everyone was about how he couldn't play much D, but look at Lee, a playmaking big w/ athleticism, can shoot from the floor, has a knack for instinctive plays. I see parts of that in Sullinger. So yeh his potential, I see him closer to Brad Miller.

I see him losing some of the weight... He's started to shoot the 3, granted only at 30%. but it's not bad for a guy like him.

He's Like Glen Davis with a better attitude. 17 and 9 seems about right, but if he's getting that much your team is not that great.
I much more like him with his 14 and 7 off the bench of a contender (Warriors)

I think I would trade D Lee for him, maybe

Super.

I'm going to disagree on Olynyk. He's a big man with tons of range. I didn't think Sully should as well...but he's been actually knocking down those shots.

The guy has potential. He can score from mid range to the three, back down, rebound, etc. The problems were that he didn't leave post freshman year for him, so he was discussed as a potential top 5 pick, as high as #1, and then slowly became a lotto then a mid to late first. The C's got a steal in him. I would've loved him in Miami since he has a good game. I think his back problems scared off many teams, but now, a lot of teams are regretting choosing scrubs or busts over him.

Eh, they have the touch. They'll get there with more gametime in that scenario.

They shoot them a ton in practice, and reports are more than positive for both.

Sullinger's biggest problem is going to be his weight. If he stays in shape he's an 18/10 player on this Celtics team.

On a really good team he's a 4th option right now.

He was always supposed to be a star, sans back injuries. He's got plenty of potential to play basketball well and be injured a lot.
