View Full Version : 2008 Draft - Bulls #1 pick, trade it for DWade - why didn't the Bulls consider?

Here was an article on it.

Dwyane Wade says he keeps hearing his name mentioned in trade rumors involving the Bulls and Miami Heat. Would the Bulls give up the No. 1 draft position to the Heat in exchange for Wade and the No. 2 overall selection? Or some combination of other players and picks?
"I have heard my name being talked about, and I can't worry about it," Wade said Monday at the Attack Athletics training facility on the West Side. "There is one thing in this league that you have no control over. If another organization wants you, then you should feel good to be wanted."
Wade grew up idolizing Michael Jordan while starring at Richards High School and then Marquette.
"I have a lot of history with the Bulls," Wade said. "And for them to come out with the first pick like that (with a 1.7 percent lottery chance) ... it was fitting that they would do something like that. Nobody thought that would happen. To be in that position and sit back and listen to anything and go back to a team and say: 'How about this? and 'How about that?' ... If [the Bulls] don't make any big moves like that, they're still going to have a great player."
Memphis guard Derrick Rose and Kansas State forward Michael Beasley are expected to go 1-2 in the draft.

Do you do it if you are Chicago? From Miami's perspective Wade had an injury in 2007 and 2008 the Heat were trash.

Why would the Heat trade a superstar AND the #2 pick for the #1?

Bulls were probably trying to pursue him 2010 anyways as opposed to trading the #1 pick for it.

Of course they would.... #2 and Wade for Rose who has played 0 NBA games at that time.

LOL, was Riley high or did someone else just make this up?

Their 2nd overall pick AND Wade. Even without knowing Rose's knees would **** up, that's an absolute rip for the Heat. I know Wade was injured, but not to the extent where his value is only to move up one pick in a draft.

Wade alone would have been more than enough. I wonder who made this one up lol

why the **** would riley trade wade? lmao.

Forget the #2 and Wade. Let's just say it was Wade who was 26 at the time for the #1 pick. That is more than fair enough.

Sorry but this has got to be made up. No way Miami was going to trade Wade.

Makes zero sense - all I remember was Miami trying to trade the #2/+ for the rights to draft Rose with the #1 overall

This is ****ing insane. Miami wanted to trade #2+future picks or something else for #1. Why would Riley or anyone in the Heat even give it a slight thought to trade a 26 year old Wade for the #1 pick? Dude just won Heat their first championship 2 years prior to that and was finally getting healthy under Grover. This must be the most hilarious trade idea ever. I am sure Riley would have said **** off if Chicago mentioned Wade.

Only if they threw in draft picks till the year 3000 then they would know how it feels to be in NY.

Ha, a fabricated rumor, I suppose.
