Obviously this is WAY too early to tell, but after last night's game, it is CLEAR that these guys are trying to one-up each other. They both came to play, and the BOTH posted 3D games. This is the kind of oneupsmanship that Bird and Magic were all about. I realize this was a weak draft and that comparing any rookie to Magic and Bird is crazy, but the romantic in me is VERY excited at the potential that these two might have a very entertaining, career-long rivalry.

LBJ and Durant are too friendly to make it interesting, and LBJ is obviously the better player of the two, but MCW and Olapido may be too close to call when they get to their primes, which may make such a rivalry even more interesting.

So, do you think we are in for a legendary rivalry?

They will be overshadowed by Parker and Wiggins for years to come IMO. So yes it will be fun to watch for now, but this isn't the year to see that come back.

If it turns out that way the league will be better off for it.

OP answered that....they are too friendly to be rivals the way Bird and Magic were.

It was a great game but it depends on how good their teams are. If each team continues to suck, then it really won't mean anything...

Man it really sucks that Scal retired. Him and Bonner created some epic games of pure gold that Larry and Magic were never able to live up to. Shame on every NBA team for not offering him a lifetime contract.

Two good rookies on crappy teams put up monster stats in a game with no defense. Nothing more, nothing less, nobody is going to be a bonafide superstar out of this draft. These two will be all stars, but you didn't just witness anything remotely close to Bird and Magic.
