The Red Sox have acquired Burke Badenhop from Milwaukee. Badenhop had a 3.47 ERA and a 3.50 K/BB in 62 1/3 IP last season.

Could be a good middle reliever for us, but who knows with a reliever. His lines the last two years are scary: 62.1 IP, 6.06 K/9, 1.73 BB/9, .87 HR/9. Both seasons identical. Looks like a groundball guy that throws strikes.

His track record looks good, Decent pick up.

Ortega small 20 year old LHP being groomed to be a reliever. He could be good in about 3-4 years...

Badenhop 1 inning set-up guy (FB/SL/some CH). Real good control vs RHP, decent K's. Gets hit pretty hard by lefties.

vs RHP career: .253/.286/.355
vs LHP career: .278/.365/.427

If they can teach Badenhop to throw something that breaks away or down to lefites, he could do better. He's just around 89 MPH, so if his control gets dicey, look out.

Seems like getting a moderate guy that's under control for now (though end of '15) for a guy that could be very good, or forgotten.

He's a sinkerballer who relies on the ball being put into play to get outs. He's a decent option for a couple of RHH hitters coming up with a runner at 1B.
