James Harden Sued
Allegedly Punched Fan for Saying
'Kobe Owns Your ***'

According to the lawsuit, Harden was on his way out of Greystone Manor nightclub in West Hollywood November 3rd -- riding in the back seat of some SUV -- when he rolled the window down to greet fans.

That's when a man named Barak Golan says he shouted at Harden, "Kobe owns your ***!" and Harden allegedly socked him in the face.

But Harden wasn't done ... Barak says the Rockets guard flipped him off as his SUV sped away.

And Harden is being treated accordingly, by being sued for playing into the hands of the fan. He could have just stayed in his SUV, drove off, and ****ed the escort he probably was going home to. Instead, he let words bother him like some insecure, small brained, moron and is being sued for it. It's dumb all around. As a man, you need to know when to walk away from situations and brush things off. As Tony Starks pointed out, where was this tough guy when MWP laid him out? MWP didn't use words and Harden didn't do anything. Some average fans says something that isn't even that bad and he punches him. How can anyone defend this guy?

I'm all for whooping somebody if they get out of line. But saying somebody else owns them when pertaining to a game of basketball is not grounds for a punch to the face. If the guy said something about his race, his family, or his jacked up teeth and beard, that might be grounds to go. If he even did it at all. A lot of people are out there just to make a quick buck.

I would say Harden could have just rolled up the window or drove away since he was, you know...inside the car. As an athlete you just have to be smart. If someone doesn't lay their hands on you or your family, there's really no excuse to resort to physical contact. You're basically just helping that person out because they're gonna get money off you. There's people who go around trying to antagonize athletes and celebrities all the time because of this. They use words, you use fists, and they get money. Gotta be smart...especially when you ***** out when MWP treats you like a newlywed bride on your honeymoon. If you wanna act tough, do it all the time, against tough people.

I dont get why so many fans think its okay to berate athletes. If you went around doing that in your normal life you would have more broken bones than friends but hey at least you and your attorney would be rolling in it.

The last time this happened it was Scottie Pippen and the fan turned out to be a real douche with no case, which was the most likely scenario from the beginning. I dont know if Harden punched this dude but I bet there's way more to the story if it's true.

If he wanted to sue for defamation of character he'd be laughed at by the judge. Hitting the guy is illegal. He's an idiot if he actually did. If he was a man he'd turn the other cheek and know that when he rests his head on his pillow that night he'd still be the rich, famous guy playing the sport he loves. While the other guy is likely going back to his mundane life.

No you cant. We in america have what is called "free speech". I am allowed to give my opinion on something or someone with no regard to how they feel. Defamation comes in to play when somone makes a point to spread lies or false rumors about another person. But factual things, not opinion. "I believe OJ killed his wife" is opinion. "I know OJ killed his wife", your claiming a fact. "James Harden isnt better than Kobe", opinion. "James Harden got fined for flopping", fact. etc.

KG you say the athletes are different from normal people but I dont entirely agree. Dont mean to butt in, I hear what your saying. But in this instance, the fan was being rather tame compared to some of the heckling we see. Saying another player owns another player doesnt warrant a punch to the face. Should Dwight punch VC in the face for calling him a crybaby? Its levels.

Athletes are different in the sense that they're in the spotlight and people know their financial situation and how they can benefit off it. I don't think it's right for people to talk **** to anyone and you're right, a lot of it is petty and maybe jealousy as well but just because people talk ****, you can't just punch the person, especially as an athlete. If you do, you just did the guy a favor because now he's gonna turn it around and take your money. See what I'm saying? Why give in and give the fan what they want? (in a lot of cases) And really....if you can't just let words slide, especially something so dumb as 'your kobe's *****' or something fairly insignificant like that, I would say you have some maturing and evolving as a human being to do. Just as the fan who made the remarks does. If you're a million dollar athlete, playin a game you love, having girls throw themselves at you, livin the lifestyle etc, it would take a hell of a lot more than some minor words from an idiot fan to piss me off. Just ignore it and move on. Responding by punching the guy literally does you ZERO good. Not only that, you have to pay for it in a lot of cases. It just doesn't make sense.

You're stretching a lot of things here. First off, the only person who did the punching was Harden (allegedly) Second, no one is defending the idiot fans and their actions. They obviously have problems and need to evolve. I would say punching someone for name calling is far from being civilized. Common courtesy, respect, and being considering to your fellow man is still alive and well. Unfortunately, the world isn't bullet proof or some type of utopia. You got the bad just like you have the good. As a civilized, mature, adult it should be obvious you have to be the bigger man and walk away from idiots who try to push your buttons by calling you names. We're talking about name calling here. What is this, kindergarten? Let it roll, laugh it off, realize that the fan is TRYING to get a reaction from you and walk away. Athletes get pampered like crazy, get tons of free stuff, usually get off in court when average people would serve time etc...having to put up with a few idiot fans seems like a pretty small price to pay.

At some point I wonder will people figure out Harden is a good player but by no stretch a superstar. Not just because of this but he plays no D, doesn't really make anyone better, and is really questionable in late game decisions.

I think people got carried away and anointed him waaaaay too early. I'd still take D Wade any ol day of the week, even on one leg. Same with Kobe....

You all are very irrational. Fans scream **** at every athlete, it's part of the game. It's so stupid on harden's part to punch the face of a person who pays his bills. What an immature person. I already don't respect his game, but if this is true, I don't respect him as a person either. As a professional athlete and role model, there is no reason what so ever to use physical force against a fan who was merely talking sport smack. Also I bet he wouldn't punch kg for saying the same thing, he punched a fan and hopped in his ride. What a badass.

A Hole or not, He's about to get paid cause Harden couldn't handle some smack talk.

In another story, Dwight about to give up some cash cause these Baby rockets can't Handle it

Tsk-tsk. Dwight Howard fined $25K for tossing the ball at a heckler in a courtside seat during a 123-120 loss to Dallas.

Why does this not surprise me

It part of being a pro athlete... Come on bro

and? it doesn't have to be. it's only "part of his job" because of all the @$$holes out there. just because it's "part of someone's job' doesn't mean you should be an @$$hole and make it hard for them. just because the movie theater has a janitor doesn't mean you shouldn't throw away your own trash and leave crap everywhere when you leave.

What a badass.

damn you must have had a fit when Kobe raped that woman. or cheated on his wife. whichever story you wanna go with that helps you sleep at night.

Exactly. Fans have the right to talk smack to an athelete. This is ridiculous and if its true, Harden should be suspended. What Barak said wasnt even that big of a deal

You're just mad you got socked by James Harden.

Why did bring up Kobe? You're like obsessed man. Anyways I'm pretty sure he was acquitted, sooo yeah I don't know why people still continue to say he raped a whore. Anyways, since your so concerned about my sleep habits, I'll have you know I lose sleep over no athlete and I don't see how your immature reply was needed in response to my post, which was entirely true btw. You just try to hard too be an anti-homer and it's pretty stupid how much you care about what people on this website think about you. Get a life man.

Seriously? Telling an athlete that another athlete owns him warrants a punch by said athlete? Or were you being sarcastic? If so, my bad.

Maybe he also insulted Harden's mom or beard as well and that's what triggered the punch.

It's not a right it's a choice. This fan made a choice to be an ******* and was (allegedly) treated accordingly.

You guys are acting like the guy called harden a derogatory term or said that he would kill him. The fan just said kobe is better than you! If harden punched this dude for saying than harden is a lot dummer and more of a scum bag than I thought he was. If harden did do this he deserves to be sued and suspended for 10 games or so.

We're all men before anything else and Harden is in the public street, not his workplace. You go up to a random dude and start talking **** you should expect some repercussions and be ready to handle them.

Yeah, he's not a random dude. He's james harden and he's expected to act a certain way. One thing I know they're not supposed to do is punch a fan for saying another player is better than him. It's not like I came up you you and ur gf on the street and asked if I could tax that *** or anything like that. And your right he's a man not a boy. This isn't high school anymore, you can't go around punching guys for saying a player owns you. Act with class. Also he rolled the window of his SUV down to greet fans, but he punches one who doesn't worship him lol.

You're right, doesn't warrant a punch. Both parties should just apologize for the incident and be over with it.

you guys sound ridiculous. saying another athlete owns you is no means to punch someone. especially when you're a million dollar athlete, you just have to be smarter than that.

lol. I hate James Harden but good for him. If you're gonna talk **** and then get punched in the head, you better fight back. Don't start crying and call up your lawyers.

Id say wrong. If you're a pro athlete and some fan talks a littke **** to you and you go and punch them (allegedly), then you're an idiot. If this story is true I hope harden had to pay some ridiculous amount.

This what I mean too. This dude is hiding in a crowd and has the nerve to try to make Harden look like a punk.

He said some ****. His prerogative. Harden punched him. Also his prerogative. **** out of here wit a lawsuit. Pfffft.

I don't remember Harden punching back after Metta elbowed him in the head. Lol

Harden is the last person who should be telling people to fight like a man... He is the new king of flop and he cries to the refs on nearly every single play. I'm sure the dude he punched must have been like 5'5, old and out of shape... Perhaps even with some sort of physical handicap. Wouldn't surprise me at all.

He didn't say nothing stupid. He just simply stated a fact. Harden should of just flopped his away out of there.
