IB4GoodItsBlakeGriffin. I'm sorry but a jumping elbow to the throat should be an ejection and we've seen players get ejected for far less in recent years. Even Heat fans in the thread called Chalmers a dumbass for this.

Chalmers and Blake have a history. You should know that if you started watching basketball before yesterday.

Not condoning the shot, but just Google or YouTube it. You'll find the history. This is yet another trivial thread that could have not been created and left in the gamethread.

Both teams have a lot of bandwagon fans. Miami and LA are very similar cities when it comes to sports fan behavior.

I've been a HEAT fan since '88 though, and have been posting on forums about the HEAT for a while now. Even though I came here in early 2010 before LeBron, I was on insidehoops for a number of years under the same username, just Google it. Before that the old NBA.com HEAT forums.

But everyone has the right to call a lot of fans bandwagoners because they are... just not all of them though.

I haven't missed a Clippers game for about 8 years probably. My email at Hotmail with the name Clippers in it has been registered since 2001. Bet you feel dumb.

Florida is the most embarrassing Sports state in the US by far. And that is no joke.
And I classify Heat fans all the same and will continue to, dont care if you were a fan since the beginning or a fan since the Lebron era, still one of the bandwagoners in my eyes.

I don't feel anyway, because if you aren't a bandwagon poster you are just a homer who keeps posting trivial nonsense Clippers threads in the NBA forum, so you deserve to be called out regardless.

If you were a true Clippers fan you would have know that they've gotten into shoving matches more than once before. My memory is slipping me, but I want to say there was yet a 2nd incident after the above clip, so this latest one makes it the 3rd.

NO WAY is this NBA forum material. Dude, you just will never ever get it. I guess I have more sonnin' to do.

Yea... even now with the championships it's normal to have a half full Heat game, even vs good teams. Then half the arena leaves mid 4th quarter, up or down doesn't matter.

Well to be fair all you have to do is see all the join dates around 2010 to see that all the so called fans joined right around the time the big 3 formed. No singling you out cause you've been here prior but there are plenty of "fair weather" fans out there.

Again not calling anyone out but when you leave a finals game early it's embarrassing.

It's not "bandwagoning" it's "fair weathered" fans. Fans that only go when their team is good. I don't blame them though. The weather is great in FL most of the year. I'd rather be outside too.

No. The only person I will go into detail about is Mario Chalmers because he is the subject of this thread.

i'm thinking the same ****. some people need to define badwagoner before they use the word and stereotype other fans for it

Hope this helps you though we all know what a bandwagon fan is but for those who don't....

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/bandwagon

(below is a definition from www.dictionary.com)

jump on the bandwagon , climb on the bandwagon , get on the bandwagon to join or give support to a party or movement that seems to be assured of success

You don't need to jump from team to team to be a bandwagon fan... Only become a fan when the team is ASSURED SUCCESS! I.E the #1 and #2 players in the league teaming up with Bosh for long term contracts and for cheap.

That's not true though, a bandwagon team would mean if you jump from team to team. If he's been a fan of each of those franchises primarily, I don't see how that's a bandwagon fan.

where i come from this is a bandwagon fan too. Not supporting your home or local team is bandwagon fan.

I was born and raised in NYC, but my mom is from SA. I've been a Spurs fan for 20+ years now, and I'm far from a bandwagon fan. You never know what the back story is on why someone isn't a die hard fan of their local team. Jumping from team to team, or not supporting your team anymore cause they're bad and changing your favorite team to a team in better shape seem more like bandwagon like qualities than not supporting your local team.

So basically you can live in a city all your life and when your team goes to the world series, NBA championship, Stanley cup finals or whatever and you all of a sudden become a fan you are not jumping on the bandwagon????

Where you live and where the team resides is irrelevant when it comes to jumping on a bandwagon I could be from Russia but if I all of a sudden become a Heat fan because Lebron, Wade and Bosh all decide to take smaller deals to form a super team still means I'm jumping on the bandwagon.

Not sure what where you live has to do with anything?

Exactly.

Why become the fan of some random team? 99.9% of the time its because: A) The team had some superstar player B) were a winning club at the time

No random person woke up one morning and decided they wanted to be a Bobcats fan "just because" and follow them from halfway across the country.

Beasted that makes no sense considering there are plenty of people like myself who became fans when the team was at a low. The year I became a fan was the lockout year and we went 7-41. We had no stars, a ton of dysfunction and the Clippers team wasn't popular at all. I actually became a fan by accident in the sense that I was bored one night and listening to the radio.. stumbled across a Clippers broadcast. Ralph Lawler's optimism and humor sucked me in and I've never looked back.

There were times where I FELT like giving up.. but never did. The fact that they are a local team for me made it easy to get really dedicated because I could watch/listen to all of the games.

meh, I don't think that shot was ejection worthy. To be honest, I can't say 100% it was a cheap shot, he could have expected to have made contact a little sooner than he did, trying to dig into his chest and accidentally going a little higher than anticipated.

Based on the thread title I was expecting to see something much more blatant than that

Yeah, not a "Bandwagon", just an "Assclown." Probably roots against all his home teams to get back at his daddy.

Nope I hate NY and NJ fans.... and their teams never interested me.

Been a Hornets/Pels fan since late Charlotte, I would always pick them in NBA Live games for Sega, and so on, and I fell in love with their colors, also cousin was a fan.

Seahawks sort of the same thing, but I loved their fans more. And watching them excited me, and I am a fan of odd color combos.

Braves I adopted from my Mom

Ducks..... same with the NBA Live Sega games, I would always pick them from NHL Games

Has nothing to do with getting back at anyway at all, and plus my dad isnt a big sports fan.

At least I dont jump ship.... and I actually stick thru with my teams through the tough times. The same cannot be said for Heat fans NOR Florida fans in general. So please..... just stop

Severity is not the ultimate decision maker. Things such as intent should be considered as well.

Just like in life, every situation is different. You can have different sentences for car accidents based on intent, severity and other factors surrounding the situation.

I'll give you 2 examples (don't try to relate it to this incident about Chalmers). Which is more punishable? Accidentally running someone in the court where they get a season ending knee surgery? Or intentionally pnching someone mid game (and they just get a bruise)?

Context. Need to use it every once in a while.

The reason he was suspended was because it was a stupid decision on his part and he let his emotions get in the way. There was absolutely no reason to throw an elbow. Not sure why you're brining up intent when it was to harm another player. The league doesn't tolerate such actions and it is a no brainer that he was suspended.

I just can't see how you can think it was wrong for the league to suspend him.

Huh? I said that I don't think a suspension was required for Chalmers. Who are you talking about regarding the elbow?

I just made up examples to show that that you need more than just the severity of the action. I got the sense that you were in support of a Chalmers suspension because of the fact that it cause a lot of damage to hit someone in the throat. I saw the video and I didn't think there was conclusive evidence he tried to do anything on purpose. I hate Chalmers but I don't think he should get punished with a suspension if he just hit someone at the wrong place and the wrong time. That's why I brought up intent. If he did that on purpose, then sure he should be suspended. While I think he did try to hurt Griffin because Chalmers is just a dick, I didn't see enough evidence to support my opinion.

I'm talking about Chalmers throwing and elbow/forearm at Blake. Yes I understand that you felt he shouldn't be suspended, and I was saying they made the right call.

Okay I get what you're saying now. Well I thought it was clear what he was trying to do. Matched with his smirk at the end like he didn't try to do it gave it away. Someone else mentioned Blake and Mario have a history which doesn't make this any more surprising that it was done on purpose. How many players run through screens and end up elbowing a guy in a throat. My guess is very, very few.

Watched it again to confirm with myself one more time, no doubt in mind that it wasn't done on purpose.

Raps18-19 Champ

Oh, I thought you were trying to argue the opposite.

Yea, I do think he did it on purpose, but not enough evidence (NBA has been inconsistent with these types of plays though). If he got a 1 game suspension, I wouldn't really fight it because Chalmers is just a dick.
