We know how we did last year on second half of back to backs.

We played last night though (Harden) like it was our 2nd night of a b2b. Hope we play better.

Nah, it's mostly pick and roll for Dwight and put backs. They give it to him on the block every now and then, but only as a change up. They are looking for threes and putbacks.

That won't keep the big fella very happy for long, especially in losses. I already noticed a few times last night he was getting on teammates for not getting him the ball.

Maybe, but I think he knows what he was signing up for when he went to the Rockets. They had a three hour meeting during free agency and I am pretty sure they detailed what they wanted to do with him if he joined their team.

I am not so worried about him yet.

It's very annoying.. I don't get any HD games on LP (even after the trial) so I end up just hooking the laptop to the TV cause the broadband games are always HD.

Bosh is their stepchild. When they win everyone acts like they don't even need him, hes not that important. Then on nights like this when its obvious its like "hey we need Bosh!"

Same with D Wade actually....

I want the Raptors to do a full rebuild. Get rid of everyone except Amir Johnson and Valacunias. That's a strong front court that can anchor a strong playoff team for years if you get the right peaces. Or they can be the perfect compliment if you get Wiggins.

Not even close. Melo, Iverson and Kobe all had years where they were above average defensively. Iverson wasn't a great defender because of his size but he always put effort in and wasn't atrocious at least. Amare was bad, but I don't remember him quite being matador defense like Harden.

Agreed. In OKC he was OKAY at defense. It has to do with the bigger offensive load, huge minute increase. But true superstars find a way to sustain on both ends to at least not be such a MASSIVE liability on one end of the floor. He doesn't need to be great defensively, he just needs to be average again.

Agreed

I've watched him just let guys take uncontested 3s at times or not fighting around screens.

TBH it seems he's been tired or hurt. It's more of a lack of effort to me. I've seen him play decent D.

The start of the third quarter was the first time I've seen this Rockets team play exactly like I think they're capable of playing. They were totally locking down the Blazers and doing whatever they wanted offensively on that 15-2 run. It's nice to see them rebound like this after such a poor showing last night.

Not surprising though. The Rockets will be a great team obviously. Unlike paper tigers like the Lakers last year that I knew wouldn't work... the Rockets actually have a great core of pieces that mesh and guys who get along. Unselfish guys on the court who are very willing passers. My two concerns for you guys right now are perimeter defense and turnovers. I also think the playmaking/assisting isn't too good right now but I expect that one to completely fix soon and I think that's just the integrating of Dwight.

Also... use Asik as Dwight's backup and start Garcia/Casspi and run small. That's another change I'd make. Asik would make a superb 6th man IMO.

And the thing that's so promising is that they haven't played anything close to a great game yet. Last night, Dwight and some of the supporting players played well and they were killing it from beyond the arc, but Harden was trash and the defense was abysmal. Tonight Harden and Dwight have been phenomenal and the defense has been solid for the most part, but they can't buy a 3-pointer and the supporting cast has provided little help offensively.

Once they start to mesh and put together complete games, I think they'll be a much more difficult team to beat.

Yup. As a fan of a team who recently integrated a superstar, I know the process first hand. This is why I have you guys making your real run next year. Because the first year will likely be spent meshing, working out kinks.

He acts up because of idiotic calls time after time. I know he has an attitude and needs to calm the **** down, but calling the game unfairly isn't going to exactly make Cousins calm down.

He clearly got hit in the dick by Dennis, no ****ing call though. And then two idiotic foul calls back to back. Of course he's going to act like a douche after that ****.

Matthews has been guarding him insanely tight, so Harden crossed him over, stepped back, nailed the jumper and drawed the foul for the 3-point play. Worrell is admittedly a huge homer, but he's been with the team since I was a kid, and his voice is synonymous with Rockets basketball. But I actually love Matt Bullard. Best performance of the season by the Rockets tonight. The fact that they won by 15 despite shooting 6-22 from the 3-point line is incredible. This has been a really tough stretch, playing four games in five nights and 3 of them on the road, but to start the season 4-1 in this conference is a huge plus. They get (what should be) a relatively easy game at home against the Lakers before getting a shot at redemption at home against the Clippers on Saturday. I'm expecting a much more complete game than they played last night.

That's the funny thing, though, is that it's NOT statistically a good idea. Daryl Morey has constantly come out and talked about how Hack a Shaq is a stupid strategy that only teams with a poor understanding of late game situations use. If you keep hacking the same player, even if it's a 50 percent free throw shooter, you're essentially giving that team one point every possession. And that's assuming the shooter doesn't get into a rhythm thanks to constant attempts from the line.

Ask the Thunder how Hack an Asik went in the playoffs last season. It's a bad idea, and it's rarely ever effective except for in extremely limited stretches.

While is this is true, if you need to score a lot in a limited amount of time, hack a shaq increases variation and gives you more time to come back.

Well, it's not a bad gamble if you're down by a decent chunk and need to make up points fast, but it's a much bigger gamble if you're in a tight game and just trying to outscore the opponent down the stretch. Is it worth a shot every now and then? Sure, but I still say you're better off playing good defense and sticking to your gameplan. Also, you're going to start racking up fouls on your players that way and push the opposing team closer to the penalty. Is it worth it to foul Dwight a few times if James Harden is killing you all game and has two minutes at the end of the game with the penalty to work with? Probably not.

Except Asik and Howard won't be on the floor together late in games unless it's the final two minutes and Hack a Shaq is no longer an option.

He's holding the team back, he doesn't play any defense, he puts up stupid shots. Having him and Derozan on the starting lineup is a recipe for disaster.

Especially when they ignore their best player Valanciunas.
