anyone else notice? looks like he lost at least 15 lbs. Will be great for his bad knees. Seems he is thinking more about the big picture now and not letting his ego get in the way. Props.

But he's always in phenomenal shape. It's more about managing his mins at this point. His knees aren't going to get any better

That's all well and good, but if the guy really wants to think about the long term viability of his game, he'll develop a 3-point shot. His athleticism and leaving him, and once that happens, you have to find other ways to score efficiently and not revert to chucking up off-balanced mid-range jumpers. Jordan became a pretty damn good 3-point shooter late in his career with the Bulls (aside from 97-98), and there's a history of other guys who improved that aspect of their game, including Kidd and Iguodala. Kobe's never been a great 3-point shooter, but he has developed into arguably the best 15-20-foot jump shooter in the NBA, which is why he could feasibly play until he's 40 if he wanted to.

Not only will a 3-point shot help Wade play longer, it will help this Heat team immensely. It's pretty obvious that this squad thrives off of penetration and 3-pointers offensively, and if he could learn to play off the ball more and hit open perimeter shots off of Lebron's penetration, that would be a huge weapon for this team. It would also do wonders for their floor spacing when both guys are on the court.

He's always been in great "shape". His conditioning and the health of his knees are two completely separate things.

But I agree that if he wants to stay healthy for 82 and the playoffs he needs to become more a shooter and less of a driver/slasher. Wade cant take that contact anymore.

Expect him to miss a lot of games this year.

He should.. Really shouldn't play any back to backs. The real season is the playoffs for them and they know that

they should just shut him down until February and take it from there

He actually did lose about 15 lbs this offseason. Riley told him it would be easier on his knees if he was lighter.

Idk, it kinda bothers me that he might sit the second half of back to backs. Doesn't sound very healthy to me. If he's getting old man treatment and preventative measures, he's probably not in superb shape. Or at least his age is finally showing. Sad day for Wade fans.

Yeah, the Heat are obviously a contender every year, but they still want to have one of those top 2-3 seeds in the East. I'm not sure they're good enough to let Wade take off half of the season and still finish with a seed that high. They're better off letting him sit out a few games on occasion, playing him in limited minutes when they can and letting him log bigger minutes in the playoffs.
