View Full Version : Quick question... Bulls vs HEAT (Chippy Play)

If the HEAT play aggressive against rose/bulls... Will there be a Media & NBA fan backlash towards them?

Examples:

So if 59% of the time rose drives to the basket on a face break or he just crosses chalmers up; what if the HEAT players tackle him, like how hinrich tackled Lbj or any of the other times when they grab wade or Lbj, would there be a problem with that media wise (I don't think there should be)? (We all know the media will try to turn it into a story, but will the NBA fans bite?)

I can see this game getting chippy (which is good).

I can see the bulls coming out trying to do this, and I see rose hitting the ground a couple of times because of it.

There are a lot of HEAT haters... I can pretty easily see Bulls fans and everyone else calling for their head if they put a few licks on Rose. LeBron, Wade, Bosh, and the rest of the HEAT players are supposed to take the hits though, that's just how it works.

I wouldn't because the Bulls play very physical against the Heat it would be hypocritical to cry about them fighting back. You know the Bulls are going at them on Tuesday and the Heat better hit back or it's going to be a rough night for them. Don't think for a second Wade and Haslem forgot the last time they won rings and faced the Bulls during a ring ceremony Bulls beat them by like 30 points. I expect the Heat to be ready I'm not sure if the Bulls can win this game but I'm confident it will be close like most games vs them are.

If the Heat hug Rose like Hinrich hugged Lebron, they'll probably all join hands, and sing Kumbaya together. Maybe Barney will show up.

But seriously, the reason Hinrich hugged Lebron is cuz Lebron had a handful of Thibbs nuts after he "dove" once. So the solution is pretty simple: Lebron should either learn how to dive, or stop doing it.

Plays like that is uncalled for...but if its Rose going to the basket and getting fouled hard, I have no problems with it.

This guys heels went over his head and he did a somersault over that push. Anyway, I don't believe Bulls fans for a second. If a play like this happens and Rose comes up limping, you guys will literally riot the streets (I'm not joking about this) and HEAT will probably have to get an armed escort out of there:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Um9wZvkFZnQ

But assuming nothing crazy happens... I expect the HEAT to come out relaxed and lose to the Bulls who will think they have something to prove. Miami hasn't looked too good defensively in the preseason, and LeBron and Wade are clearly taking the approach to try and work their way into shape so they don't peak to soon in the regular season. The last thing Wade and Haslem are thinking about is what happened 7 years ago.

I don't get it. I'm more worried about Dwyane hurting people (breaking Kobe's nose, almost breaking Rondo's arm etc...) than the Bulls doing anything. Bulls play chippy, Dwade plays dirty. Nevertheless, you saying Bulls will riot the street is over exaggerating.

These teams don't really like each other so I expect physical play. It's cool as long as no one is trying to injure someone.

Sorry but this is such a hypocritical thread, it's laughable. Lebron for example antagonized Muhammad when shoved, it wasn't some cheap shot. Wade shoved Rip over nothing. In the sense of hard fouls/cheap shots/taunting... Miami has been an equal offender in this H2H. How long did we talk about Nazi shoving Lebron down? Yet the things the Heat do similar get very little press. In other words... Miami won't get bashed because they have done idiotic antics plenty of times like this and nobody makes a fuss long term.

Wade is by far the "dirtiest" player on either team. As pointed out above he has intentionally seemingly tried to injure multiple players.

The playoff series with the Bulls are always chippy not just vs the Heat. I wouldnt condone Bynum tackling Rose while in the air and **** but you definitely have to let him know that the lane aint open for him as he pleases. Chalmers has no chance but i dont think the Heat lose sleep over Rose tbh

It's the Bulls defense that makes teams second guess themselves. I think the Heat's trapping swarming defense will be enough to contain Rose just like last time. The Bulls will never beat the Heat on the back of Rose and as long as that is their strategy they will fail. The other guys Deng, Butler, Boozer, Dunleavy, and even Hinrich will have to pull weight on offense if they are to beat the Heat. The Heat can defend Rose

As for your question, no there should not be any backlash. Both these teams play good defense and the Bulls always turn any series into a dog fight. Its expected. If they do something really nasty like a purposeful flagrant on Rose and he reinjures himself then there WILL be backlash from the media as Rose is the media darling for the league

smh... (I'm not even going to go there with you)

Just try to focus on, if the media will try to create a big story if the HEAT get physical with Rose, like how they try to do with Lbj & Wade, when they are running on the fast break.

All I want to know is if rose has a free layup, and if the HEAT tackle him to the ground, will fans jump on the hate HEAT ban wagon, and will the media be the cause of it.

But I do understand what you are saying... The HEAT can get down and dirty too, if a team wants to play that way.

I agree... I feel that there will be a backlash & the hate the HEAT parade stars up again (I hope I am wrong).

I'm not shedding any tears if something happens in the game I hope everyone is healthy but there is just as much of a chance Noah takes out Wade as someone takes out Rose. I can't imagine either team going there game 1 of the reg season but we'll find out.

If any player on any team tackles another player to the ground then it's probably a flagrant and dangerous and should be criticized. It has nothing to do with whether it's the Heat vs Rose or the Bobcats vs Tony Wroten. This whole thread - trying to pre-justify any dirty play and claim 'hate' about criticism that hasn't even happened is super weird.
I can say, though, that from an outsider's perspective, the media coverage of these things certainly isn't automatically slanted against Miami, which seems to be your implication.

I don't expect a physical game like last seasons playoffs between the heat and bulls. That was playoff basketball and the bulls were down players, so the physical play was elevated.

I do expect some physical play but neither team wants to get players hurt this early in the year.

And for what it's worth, Heinrich didn't tackle lebron in that famous highlight. He did what more players should do which is to get in front of lebron and take the charge.

I legitimately believe if the same type of incident happens that somebody falls on Rose's knee or something similar... he comes up limping, then goes to the locker room for the rest of the game, that some fans will riot outside the arena.

I'm not talking about Rodney King riots here, or even Lakers 2010 riot, but maybe something lesser.

Posey isn't on the Heat, but the coach when he was is still in charge of the team and making personnel decisions. KH playing agressive on LBJ is one thing. A tackling idiot in the NBA is another. Who's to say there aren't players on Riley's current roster who would take cheapshots like this? I think we've seen some links in this thread that prove there are.

OP post was extremely biased in the videos shown. Bulls are known for playing physical, and the Heat have had their share of physical moments against them. I really am hoping for a hard nosed physical game, but I will snap if I see Bosh flopping!

Looks to me from the video's and seeing them play is that the Bulls play tough, hard, and smart which annoy the Heat to the put of them doing stupid ***** in retaliation.

who cares what they say about the heat, miami is versatile enough to play whatever style they need to(especially if oden can log 10-15min come playoff time), and their toughness is underrated. there's always some bad blood with the bulls, but the heat players know how to handle themselves.

Yet you stay on topic with Asik diving for a loose ball and Asik isn't on the roster either. I would seriously love to find footage of dirty play's by Bulls players. Sure they play tough defense and get in your face a little but I have never seen a just a blatant dirty foul like Posey did their or example of Bynum slamming Barea to the ground. If so please show the video.
