Spurs built a nice bench , I see Manu and Marco playing more Point because their backups suck . http://hoopshype.com

Nice pickup. People forget he was an all star a few years back.. I'm sure he's still got some gas left in the tank. If anyone can rehabilitate him it's the Spurs.

I believe he's headed for the Toros on a non guaranteed contract. They've had their eyes on Howard for several years, this time it looks like there was mutual interest.

As such, it is likely the next step in Howard’s journey might come not in San Antonio, but a few miles up Interstate-35 inAustin.

NBA rules allow a team’s final three cuts of the preseason to be allocated to the Development League club of its choosing. If the Spurs were to waive Howard before Nov. 1, they could place him in Austin – provided he signs a D-League contract – and monitor his progress there.

If healthy, I have no complaints with him playing sparingly behind Kawhi.

Manu & Marco should be the ball handlers for sure. Patty Mills has gotten himself in great shape and can really score the ball, so I'm hoping he gets the backup "PG" spot, but doubt he'd be doing a ton of ball handling and creating plays with not only Manu/Marco but also Diaw who is a pretty gifted passer on that 2nd unit

People forget why the spurs are always on top. They ALWAYS take vets on the downhill who are willing to play a roll. Come playoff time. they don't expect a serious dropoff because they have already experienced it. They expect 5-14 mins a game. If you get some new guy that has never experience the playoffs, it might overwhelm him. Plus, the spurs staff is the best in the nba. They know how to take care of old players.

Nice move. Let him get his game together in the D league and monitor his health. If everything is cool bring him on for the second half of the season push. No risk, high reward.

Josh Howard used to ball foreal. Him and Marquis Daniels were a vicious combo for Dallas back in the day....
