Hey everybody,

Not many of you know this, but i first heard of this place from jordanbulls. He used to be a mod at this place, not sure what happened. I just heard news that he has passed away =\ We used to be acquaintances. I don't want to go in to details about it, but you can PM me if you were a friend of his on here. Just wanted to let everybody know in case they were friends with him. Not sure if he even comes on here anymore. RIP

How can you be sad to hear somebody passed when you never met the person, don't know what they look like, don't know their real name, don't know the details of their passing, and don't know if they actually passed away.

I will admit I am not the most versed in social etiquette, and don't have a high level of built in compassion. Is it proper social etiquette to say you are sorry or pretend you are sad even given the above circumstances? This is a serious question BTW.

But on topic, I don't believe this story.

Eh - you grow to like and appreciate certain people on a forum if you invest enough time talking hoops (or whatever) with them. Being that he literally posted more than anyone, it makes sense that it would invoke a reaction if people thought he was dead.

I honestly don't like hearing anyone has passed away, even if it really doesn't affect my every day life. Obviously someone I know passing is going to be a bigger deal than someone on PSD, but I would be sad to hear anyone on here passing. JB is a guy I've spoken to on a personal level, who is young and got married in the past few years, and so have I, so I can empathize.

On a social level it would be considered rude to say "I don't care" if someone dies. If you don't care, then the polite thing to do would be to just not say anything and attempt to offer even the least bit of condolences to the person who lost someone. Even if it's a pat on the back and you move on. Now I am a minister and have done a funeral for a few people I barely member or have never met in my entire life. One instance I didn't even know any of the people attending besides the people who came with me to make it less awkward. In that setting, you try to offer encouragement and let them talk and cry and be polite and available but stay out of the way a little.

Hope that helps some. And never feel bad about asking an honest question. No fault in that.

I've been desensitized to mortality by the television and media, most notably the years of watching Kenshiro of Hokuto Shinken tell people "you're already dead".

On a standard social level, yes, it is improper etiquette to act as though you hold no value of life in general. I guess that is where sociopaths are born. But what I am specifically talking about is someone you don't know, never have seen, can't say that you know their real name, and don't know the circumstances or truth behind their passing.

I guess it never occurred to me that some of you actually do feel you "know" someone on the internet through forum interaction. I don't trust most things I read on the internet, so it is hard for me to identify with "knowing" someone in such a situation because their entire "life" could be a lie they made up for you. Now back to the topic of it still being "a person" who died who you at one time "communicated with" which we should all have some sort of compassion for, I can understand this a little, but still not enough to act like I am sad over it, maybe because I personally cannot identify with this still being a "real" person. Anyway, thanks for the responses.

I mean think about it some people date people on the internet without ever even talking to them on a phone. I don't think its out of the ordinary for someone to be a little affected from something like this. I didn't really get along with JB at all but I do hope he's ok.

I mean think about it some people date people on the internet without ever even talking to them on a phone. I don't think its out of the ordinary for someone to be a little affected from something like this. I didn't really get along with JB at all but I do hope he's ok.

You can date someone on the internet basically in this same forum-type interaction? No picture, no physical interaction, no way to fact-check what they tell you, don't know their real name..... Really?

Maybe I am old school and way out of touch... but one last thought...

Ok, this is diving into the deep end of trippy stoner-talk... but how do I know this is even a person? How do I know this is not a robot created by the government as a means of mind control via an automated response engine driven by highly advance artificial intelligence?

Do you think that's air your breathing?

People used to do that all the time on chat rooms. You never seen You Got Mail? Lol. ;)

My condolences. Always sad to hear of ones passing. JB was a great poster in that he used to give Chronz fits. He will be missed.

Someone join that travel site and let JB know we need confirmation of his life

Okay. So is this guy a dupe or isn't he? If he's not and this is honestly true, then I'm sincerely sorry to hear it. I may not have always agreed with JB, but he loved basketball, and we call can honestly say we've enjoyed discussing the sport with him. He's one of the most active poster not only in the NBA forum, but the entire site, and he would be truly missed by us, even if we never had the pleasure to meet him.

If this guy IS a dupe, that's a seriously ****ed up joke, and he and every single one of his dupes should be banned for life. There's a lot of people I disagree with on this site, but it takes a truly low life piece of **** to come on here and act as if someone else has perished.

CONFIRM YOUR LIFE. CONFIRM IT DAMNIT.

But what if he's just a nice old man from Houston who just happens to like Jordan and the Bulls as well. He would freak out and start checking his pulse to make sure he actually was alive.

JB always goes on long hiatuses before the season starts.

He's buttering up his wife before basketball season when he ignores her

I dont think you can explain empathy. In some cases it just naturally comes to you. Just like how you see a dog hurt in the street and you simply get knots in your stomach wanting to help that animal. That animal may not have any interaction with you nor any relationship with you but you just have an affect for empathy. Honestly when i saw this thread I would've much rather it have been a few heat fans that I've come to read about their stupidity on threads. I don't feel any remorse saying it because i don't feel like i should nor should i fake it. I think faking it takes too much effort and my opinion is that those here who have built a connection to this person whether fake or not have built some sort of relationship that neither you or i will understand and thats why most of us have the decency to shut our mouths and not question the social construct in this situation. Theres a better place and better time for it

Who actually makes a fake thread and then continues on the story (6-7 posts). It would be ok if you made the thread then left forever, but you actually thought it out. Get a life.

If Copper is JordanBulls, i will freaking laugh my *** off.

If not, than ban that mother ****er for life. Ban account and IP. I hate a lot of posters on this site but I would never wish death upon them nor post of their fake passings. Not cool or funny at all.

Please let this be the former so that this thread can become the most legendary thread on PSD. Either that or JB comes in to this thread and just going "WTF IS THIS ****!?"

That comment reminds me of what people were saying in the puppy strangling thread. For the record, you can be desentized and still have a strong empathy. Like I used to be drawn to tears whenever I thought of all the animal cruelty in this world, Im just as angered by it as I ever was, I wish I could still shed a tear for it but there are too many sick people in this world.

You're not the only one man. :(

Than again I love animals more so than humans so i might be biased. Especially cats.

Can any of the mods verify this?
The mods are just regular posters from around the world who happen to have the ability to delete posts my man. This might be out of their jurisdiction... I said this because they might have known him a little better since he was also a mod at one point.
