I have seen this thread before, and figured it was appropriate with the season approaching. Who would be your top 5 if every player on every team were in their primes?

Nets ( KG, Pierce, Joe Johnson, D-Will, AK47, Lopez, Terry )

Hard to say though, can't account for players who haven't hit their prime yet.

True. I guess we could go with the best they have been so far.

I would go with, in no order:

Nets

PG- D-Will/Terry/Livingston
SG- Paul Pierce/Joe Johnson
SF- AK-47/Stackhouse
PF- Garnett/Evans
C- Lopez/Blache

That is just nasty right there.

Dallas Mavs

PG- Harris/Calderon
SG- Vince Carter/Ellis
SF- Matrix/Balkman
PF- Dirk/Blair
C- Dalembert/Wright

Lakers

PG- Nash/Farmar/Blake
SG- Kobe/Meeks
SF- Young/Johnson
PF- Gasol/Gadzuric
C- Kaman/Hill

Heat

PG- Chalmers/Cole
SG- Wade/Allen
SF- James/Battier/Beasley
PF- Bosh/Lewis/Haslem
C- Oden/Birdman

Spurs
PG- Parker/Joseph
SG- Manu/Green
SF- Leonard/Maggette
PF- Duncan/Diaw
C- Splitter/Bonner

I was really bummed to hear about his injury. He was on his way to an All-Star career, imo.

you forget about Rashard Lewis on the Heat. in his prime, he was pretty much a go-to guy.

Nets are overrated, pierce prime not even at elite level, he pretty much did nothing before KG and allen went there

Pierce was an scoring machine from 2000-2006 (roughly), he got his team (with Antoine Walker and pretty much scrubs) to the ECF against the Nets.

I don't understand where people get off dogging on PP like this. No one is saying the guy is a legend or in the discussion for GOAT. He's been a 22/6/5/1/1 for his entire 15 year career and probably has more game winners than any active player. Wtf are you talking about "overrated"? He has the resume set in stone for a top 50-60 player of all time.

Im with him in labeling Pierce overrated. Hes not this big shot maker people make him out to be. His championship run came with middling production and believe it or not, his FG% was 0 during "clutch time" (5 minutes or less with the scoring margin within 5 pts) IIRC. He had one good run but people talk about his teammates as if they weren't talented enough to get as far as they did. Look at what hes done when he didnt have strong defensive support and was pretty much the main star.

1) Miami
2) LA Lakers
3) Brooklyn
4) San Antonio
5) Dallas

Prime Wade was in discussion of best player in the league. Prime Wade with Prime Bron+Bosh+healthy Oden+ Prime Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis and other guys would be a really hard team to beat.
I say the only team to beat them would be prime Dallas Mavericks with Dirk, Marion, Carter, Dalembert, Harris and Ellis.

Why hate on Paul Peirce? The dude has been a perennial all star his entire career w/ countless playoff runs and a ring to show for it. In his prime, he was one of the best scorers in the league and one of the better leaders on and off the court.
Before KG and Allen, he never had the supporting cast to make deep playoff runs. However, he was very loyal to Boston his entire career and his patience payed off once they acquired both Allen/Garnet. They didn't waste anytime and accomplished their goal in winning a ring.
He's one of the best players on arguably the best team of all time. Enough said.

Paul Pierce being "overrated" is a valid debate, but to claim that "he pretty much did nothing" is ridiculous. Not every star player can say that he led a team to the Conference finals with a secondary option and nothing else.

On second thought, the answer is the Heat easily!
Lebron 30/8/7
Wade 30/7.5/5
Bosh 24/11
Ray 26/4/4
Rashard 22/7
Oden 17/13 (per 36min)
Beasley 20/8 (per 36min) TS% .528 (All during RC season)

This destroys any other team.

You mean Shaq Kobe and Phil, or Pau Kobe and Phil. When Phil, Pau, and Shaq arent there, Kobe misses the playoffs. True story.

Your smoking something. The Heat could score 110 on any team in history with that squad. Not scoring 75 is a joke. The spurs never averaged that in any season against regular teams. How in the heck can you say that about a team like the Heat with everyone in there prime. Having a prime Ray and Lebron alone makes 90 a given.

Prime spurs played at the slowest pace in the league. you add that it's the playoffs, it might be slower. seeing as how the spurs are more efficient, I'd give the nod to the spurs. TIM PrIME>>>>Lebron PRIme. Tim duncan nears a quadruple double all day.

buahaha. you got Ray Allen and Dwayne Wade. you can't stop these guys with Lebron either passing or getting to the rim. and plus, we know prime Wade comes with the refs on his side. so no, spurs got no chance.

I'm a huge Spurs fan, but Tim is not better than Lebron. The Statistics will more than back that up as well as the film. Secondly, please take off the Homer glasses. 75pts is ridiculous! If they were ever that type of team that could shut down like that, then they never would of lost. At one point the basically had a Prime Tony, Manu, and Tim playing together and they still lost to teams in the playoffs. The Lakers still gave it to them a few times. This 75pts thing is pure fantasy. Yeah first round of the playoffs I feel ya. Against prime Lebron Wade, Bosh, Ray is just a joke.

The Spurs were actually never the slowest paced, or even second slowest. They took their time, but generally there was a handful behind them and they came in around ~22nd.

The "Prime Tim >>>> Lebron" and "Tim nears a quad double all day" are both ridiculous and deserve no further comment.
