...this isnt the WWE

please dont do this. I'd understand selling jerseys with nicknames on them but actually wearing them on the court is a mockery of the league's seriousness. I get the NBA isnt as serious as NFL or MLB but I wish it was..

What's next? Having Twitter handles on there? Lol.

NBA will make this a street ball day dedicated to all the street ballers lol

The bench guys with no nicknames are going make up the lamest names ever

One of the stupidist ideas ever.

Game just isn't serious like it used to be, mainly due to the younger generation of NBA fans. Plus, the two primary teams involved are the main teams the younger generation has flocked to recently (aka bandwagon hoppers) so again, not really surprised, especially with the two teams.

The NBA is sports entertainment, emphasis on the latter.

Some of you guys are taking this a little to anal. This is strictly a marketing ploy that will help generate more sales and business. The NBA wont allow improper or inappropriate nicknames, this is a much better idea then an ad filled jersey

Goofy idea. Wade as three? i dont know about that, does he not even have a nickname? Maybe flash or d3 but just three i guess i never really heard him referred as that. Anyways i think this could kinda ghettofy the league.

so for the bulls i think it would be;
Rose- MVP
Butler-Buckets
Deng-Lieutenant Deng
Boozer- Booz
Noah-Tornado

Is it just me, or does it seem like NBA players today have no imagination? Most of their nicknames just consist on their initials and their jersey numbers.

What a ****ing horrible idea. I didnt think it was possible for the NBA to get worse.....

Chris "Caveman" Kaman
Steve "Cap Canada" Nash
Pau "The Spaniard" Gasol
Nick "Swagy P" Young

These would be funny as hell for the Lakers. But I say no,it could be a great financial move, but I'd rather see jerseys without the nicknames.

Kind of unclassy for being the top tier in pro basketball, but stll will enjoy it

This idea just doesn't make too much sense. What if you don't have a nickname? "Shaneo"? That's terrible.

XFL?

He Hate Me.

So I can picture the Heat's jerseys.

Velociraptor
Douchebag
Band-Aid

i like the idea of nicknames on back for sme games cause it's progressive, it's almost 2014. Sports is entertainment and nicknames just add to the entertainment value. Roger Goodell has taken all the fun out of the NFL so i'm glad the NBA wont follow the path of the "no fun league" nfl..

I think it will be fun until Corey Maggette puts "Bad Porn" on his jersey and it isn't properly vetted by the NBA. Then Silver will end the NBA nickname games and the traditionalists will be return to mostly complaining about how current NBA players are wimps due to lack of brawls and how the three point line is too modern for their taste.

Lebron and Kobe should probably be the only players allowed to have their nick names on their jerseys..

Great idea. Adds more spice to the game. The game is changing and there are more people enjoying it than hating. Jerseys with their nicknames? Remember, NBA is a business first and foremost. This is probably an agreement made between the player union so they can generate more sales for their respective teams and the league. I wouldn't mind seeing King James vs Black Mamba, or Three vs Durantula. Good thing Shaq retired, he would have made the corniest names. Ever.

Make it for the all-star game/weekend. Makes it so that there aren't just some random guys with special jerseys, it'd be all-stars only.

this is a professional league there is no need for nicknames on jerseys in real live games. they can still just make them and people will buy em. Im in Philly and when Raul Ibanez was here Modells sold t-shirt jerseys that said Rauuuuuuul on the back and with Ruiz they had Choooooch on the back and they sold good. No need for the players to actually wear it its ridiculous.
