I'm ok with this

Hopefully that means we don't have to watch him on TNT anymore.

But if I was a Kings fan, no way I would want this. That would be like Reggie Miller buying a piece of the Knicks.

Yeah, I feel weird about it. The good part is that this is more motivation for him to help develop Cousins though.

Agreed on part one.

Agreed on part two...however, that depends on whether or not he keeps his nose out of front office affairs.

Did the article say how much of a stake he bought. Can't imagine it's much of one. So ultimately I doubt it means anything.

“I’m not worried about facing the Sacramento Queens. Write it down. Take a picture. I’m not going to talk about this all year. When I get back, there’s going to be trouble.”

Hopefully he can work with cousins to mold him into a star

This is basically a name move. Brings us recognition and a big name. He will try to help Cuz too. Not much about the actual team ownership part

LOL... I remember that one! That was the good old days when Shaq didn't give a **** about what he says on TV.

he felt bad for the franchise because of 2002, that's why he bought the team

Yeah, I feel weird about it. The good part is that this is more motivation for him to help develop Cousins though.

For the franchise it makes sense the same way it made sense for Jay Z in Brooklyn to be one of the faces, to help promote the brand, provide a celebrity "spark" to an otherwise dormant franchise, and make it "cool" to want to be a Kings fan again as the franchise tries to rebuild itself back to respectability. Shaq doesn't have to do much more than Jay Z did for to help with those things - sit courtside at the games, appear at promotional events, blast yourself all over the billboards.

All those years he was calling them Queens and now becomes an owner, kind of weird.

Really don't care who owns the team, unless it's the worthless Maloof family.

Hopefully it works out like his previous endeavors.

Funny, I just assumed that it was the LA Kings he bought, really surprised it's Sacramento, just doesn't seem right.

Yeah, Shaq is minority owner of 0.4% of the Kings. lol. he's just a figurehead for the franchise, like Jay Z was for the Nets.

Classic but true
Partial ownership of a team isn't new to players - I agree in terms of figure head but with the NBA and profit sharing, the Kings as bad as it is, as long as Michael Jordan doesn't touch the front office, will turn a profit and Shaq will make his money back ... and then some, good investment

Like Magic Johnson with the Dodgers?
