Interesting to see KD and Rose both drop -1. One missed an entire season with a potentially career effecting injury, the other improved his defense and playmaking as well as became a more efficient scorer - effectively having his best season yet and establishing himself as the #2 in the NBA. That's -1?

@Hawk, in the parenthesis of the post I quoted it said Lebron was actually a 100. So I guess him at the very least. I'd assume 5 others in their history mode if that's the case.

Because the weakest part of his game is FTs and that's about it.

Derrick Rose should be a 41 because no one knows how he will play. ALso with the injury, he is probably really slow.

off-topic,

is there a 'shave points' options for drug dealers in this game?

Got nothing but love for Nash but how is he a +1 after having one of the worst seasons of his career. Harden and George are spot on. Kobe should be -1 and KD should be +1, maybe even 2.

Paul George is a fantastic up and coming player but he's not far from a 90 rating after putting up like 16/8 last year? Sorry but no. Guy is getting hyped too quickly. Although we do have to remember that the rating system weighs certain categories more than others. Dirk for example after winning the championship was only an 85 rating in the following 2K game but it's because the areas he's strongest in aren't bigmen categories. Yet in the game he still dominated.

So overall rating is very misleading.

NBA Live 14 looks like theyre making a comeback.

Hope they do cuz 2K got real lazy since 2k11.. I always liked Live's presentation way better anyway, hope they comeback with a good game. Their ratings have been better as well.

I dont get why they have a 99, that should be saved for a prime MJ and a prime MJ only imo. That way when they add in legends it actually shows how good they were. Like a Prime Magic Johnson should be a 97, prime MJ 99, and then all the current stars, like Durant, would be an 84 or something.. then a Jamal Crawford would be a 60..
Instead you have like 99 Lebron 99 MJ 99 Magic 94 Durant etc. Is Durant really only 5 rating points away from MJ???

NoahH

has anyone ever been 100?

Pretty sure 2k and Live only ever go to 99. It's not possible to be an 100. Back when Sony 989 Sports was making NBA games i think you could be a 100 in that.

How the **** did Marc Gasol get worse?

It's dumb because he had a resurgence last year, not a decline. Biggest flaw with 2K series to many people is the inconsistent or inexplicable ratings every year. For example in last year's game guys like Jamison had a 79 rating while guys like Redick+Dudley had 71 or 72. I'm using Clippers players as examples because it's the team I use and I made the trades myself.

Lol Blake Griffin shafted. Dropped from 87 to 85. Even 2k has jumped on the underrating Griffin wagon. He should be about an 87 or 88. Although if he has the year I expect they may get him to 90.

Not too many PF's released yet but ones that have been.

Pau Gasol- 81
Anthony Davis- 80
Anthony Bennett- 76
Glen Davis- 75

Paul George got bumped to a 90. Guys like Bledsoe and Jennings are an 82 and 83. 85 is low for Griffin who's a top 15 player and has a varied skillset.

Lol at not top 30. How many players are better than 20/10/4 with top notch efficiency and respectable defense (this last year)? Blake is probably in the 12-15 range as a top player and I expect him to make a jump since he finally has elite shooters around him to take the pressure off and an elite coach who knows what the ***** he's doing.

There's no 'underrating Griffin wagon' when he is an average player/above average player. If he gets a 90 the game would be made for kids 12 and under because they like him for his dunks.

Read some reviews today;

Kotaku says:

Gameplay and presentation is highly polished;
Great attention to detail, great broadcasting/commentary;
Very little changes to My Career, almost the exact same as last year;
Feels like the major changes to game modes are being saved for next gen;

Bleacher Report says:

Rookies that have been added look just like their real life counterparts, but some NBA vets and sophomores haven't changed in appearance from last year;

Path to Greatness is Stellar. More like an RPG, building your Lebron, his legacy and making "the decision 2013" you can team up with CP3 and D12 in New York, bring Kobe out of retirement and face off against him or join him, force Iverson out of retirement as a rival.

Limited changes in Association, only real changes are 1. players will be forced to play limited minutes upon their return to the lineup while they recover from more serious injuries. 2. The CPU acts more realistically in Free Agency.

Very limited changes to My Career, pretty much the exact same as last year.

Improvements to My Team, customisation is more limited than they let on.

"NBA 2K14's gameplay is so good, it could have afforded to drop the ball in other areas. Thankfully, the few slight missteps don't detract from it too much. Prepare yourself for the best simulation basketball game ever made."

Graphics and Animation: 9 out of 10
Gameplay and Realism: 9.75 out of 10
Sound and Presentation: 9 out of 10
Game Modes and Options: 9 out of 10

I'm personally really disappointed that career mode isn't seeing any changes, I play that the most.

Worth noting this is only the current gen version... I wonder if next gen will be vastly different or more of the same?

Stephen Jackson, the same player that shot 37% from the floor with an abominable PER of 8.09 last year, rates out as a 78. Yes, a player cut by the Spurs late last year has a higher rating than Chandler Parsons, Jeremy Lin, and Omer Asik. Gotcha.

2k ratings are trash. Asik at 70 is an abomination and Parsons is criminally underrated as well.

The gameplay is much improved! They've FINALLY provided different jump shots and not just the fadaway or standard. Kobe's fadaway is easy to do. The physical style of the defender & the way the bodies the ballhandler is a bit annoying, but still very much realistic. Now, im not one who cares for all the game modes. I focus on the gameplay, visuals, etc.

Computer be cheating like sonofa*****! But Im thoroughly pleased with it so far
